QB & RB draft board

Cam ward needs a great offensive line or he will need to speed up his throws tremendously in the NFL. Not saying he can’t just saying that’s going to be a huge adjustment.

Besides Arch manning and his 900 yards passing hype I don’t think next year will be much different than this year. 2-3 first round picks and then a few day two guys. Anything can happen I suppose in a year but I don’t think 2026 is going to be a 2004 QB draft.

I had Matt Corral as a day 3 pick. Dart has a rocket arm and great accuracy. In 2017 I had Pat Mahomes as an elite level QB. I heard the same stuff about him. System QB, one read, won’t translate to the NFL.

Stop there — that is NOT what people were saying about Mahomes. He was a gunslinger who took too many chances, they said.

Dart’s arm does not compare to his, either.

You’re the first person I’ve seen describe his arm as “elite”. He’s a one read guy with a good arm, but he’s tracking to Matt Corral 2.0.

Dart threw the ball 58 mph at the combine. Mahomes was 55 in 2017. 58 mph is elite. Many years 58 would have been tops and every year that’s top 2 or 3 in the draft class.

And Mahomes played in the “Air Raid” Texas Tech offense that produced massive numbers but had yet to see a Quarterback transition to the NFL from that. So, yes it was a major concern.

His game speed doesn’t match his Dr. Pepper challenge speed. With his lack of ability to process, he’s going to be an INT machine in the NFL, I am afraid.

Doesn’t matter if it was at the combine dropping 60 yard dime or vs LSU. Dude can chuck the rock. I’m hoping we trade up to get him.

I’m not seeing round 1 pick for Dart either. Most of the “reporting” I have seen is mid to late 2nd or early 3rd. I guess we will see in a few weeks.

I definitely could be wrong. And if you would have asked me in November I would have said a day two pick. It wasn’t until January where I started watching film. And the more I watched the more I liked.

I’m on the Jaxson Dart wagon. If he’s there at 21 I feel it’s a no brainer but I also don’t think he’s there at 21. I just think he’s going to be very high on a few boards and someone goes and gets him. The one good thing is there’s not a ton of need a QB. There’s teams like Carolina and New Orleans who could draft him but the board from 10-20 really doesn’t have anyone who needs a QB. My guess is Seattle will be interested and a team like Cleveland, NYG, Tennessee or even Las Vegas try to move ahead of us by pairing their early 2nd and some other picks to get him.

But if he’s there I am all in on him.

not really a fan of the top guess in this draft...or the second tier either

would much rather the Steelers survive a year with wilson (**** rodgers) and try to make a play for one of the guys next year

one of the few Coogs, I am going to pimp this year (after the Big XII pro day) will be Donovan Smith

he has the size and the physical traits to make a good nfl qb

he can make all the throws and is a dual threat. He is fast enough and is a strong runner. In my opinion, UH spent too much time calling designed runs for him rather than their RBs

He had a bad season last year, part of it his fault, a lot of it crappy OL play and lack of top WRs. His top two guys left for greener pastures Brown to miami and Golden to UT

he problem is his footwork can be shaky, leading to over thrown balls and a bad tendency in tight games to stare down his receiver leading to picks

I would not take him until late, if he is there in the 7th...roll the dice maybe he can be the first QB the Steelers develop

I would love to see the Steelers pickup Mellott as an UDFA from Montana State, but move him to RB. The kid earned the nickname TD Tommy for a reason.
