Pro football talk, final power rankings for all 32 teams

Steelerfan81,

Ben was drafted and stated in 2004.

We lost to zero losing teams his rookie year.

2005

Ravens 16-13

2006

Falcons 41-38
Raiders 20-13 (2-14 Raiders)

So, for three seasons with Ben, Cowher lost to just three teams with losing records and two games were very close. AN average of just one loss a year to losing teams. In addition, Cowher is 5-1 with Ben in the playoffs.

How often on average does Tomlin lose to teams with losing records with Ben? A lot more than once a year on average. What's Tomlin's playoff record with Ben? Yep.

Thank you for helping me illustrate my point.

Bill Cowher losses to ****** teams that finished sub .500

1992

Bears - Lost 30-6
Browns - Lost 17-9

1993

LA Rams 27-0
Browns 28-34
Seahawks 16-9

1994

Seahawks 30-13

1995

Jaguars 24-7 (expansion team)
Patriots 41-27
Ravens 31-17

1997

Cowboys 37-7
Eagles 23-20

1998 we sucked but

Lost to 3-13 Cincinnati 25-20
5-11 Lions

Skipping 99 cause we sucked still

2000

Browns 23-20
Jaguars 34-24

2001

Jaguars 21-3
Bengals 26-23

2002

24-6 Texans (expansion team)

2003

Browns 33-13
49ers 30-14
Jets 6-0

2005
Ravens 16-13

2006
Falcons 41-38
Raiders 20-13 (2-14 Raiders)

And we lost to around 10 8-8 teams.

So you omit the 1999 season, but count the 2003 when they were equally bad?

Also, the Steelers beat the Patriots in 1995.

Cowher had only one season with a good team that he lost more than two games to bad teams (1993), while Tomlin has had four such seasons, including three where he lost FOUR games to bad teams.

This is not even counting all the games in which the Steelers struggled and barely won against bad teams under Tomlin. The Jaguars game last season and the Packers and Colts games in 2017, without Rodgers and Luck, are some of the more recent.

There is also that stat floating around where the Steelers are embarrassingly bad under Tomlin in regular season games where they're favored by 10+ points.

All of that with a far superior QB than what the Steelers had under most of Cowher's tenure.

The two are not even remotely comparable when it comes to playing down to the competition.

I love the Tomlin has lost to too many sub 500 team argument. Because the converse is also true:

Tomlin has one of the best records ever against teams over 500.

Well he would have to have one of the best records against over .500 teams if he has the worst against below .500 teams.
Otherwise where would our wins come from?

Well I'm ready to skip the rest of them. Last 10 seasons have been a ****** letdown, on par with Marvin Lewis. The arrow is not pointing up either.

On par with Marvin Lewis? Tomlin needs to go, but he's better than Marvin Lewis. YDKSAF!

Ya this thread is on to something here..... except we have an exceptional qb we are seeing a complete repeat of the cowher years. Losing at the end of the season, losing games we should be winning, getting out coached, over reliance on over achievers, free agents subtractions of critical players, on and on... goes all back to the passive/aggressive nature of art2 going to do it his way.
