Preseason Game #2 - ATL vs. PIT

Dangerfield getting closer to making the roster, 2nd Int

Well....
A.) its preseason... what do we need to see more of... the rb that is assured a spot or how the potential 3rd string QB handles the pressure of a 4th down game

B.) when they telegraphed they were dropping into coverage there should have been an audible
 
Conner"s had a nice game but he was drafted for short yardage. Bell runs to up right and Conner"s looks to be the same. When we were 3 and 1 why didn't Tomlin see how he was on short yardage. At least in fourth quarter we saw some good hits and coverage by secondary. Dangerfield was head and shoulders over Cockrill and Burns coverage.

completely different positions you know? the first Int he was in zone coverage and the pass when straight to him. The second one was a reaction play but if the receiver hadn't clancked the pass he wouldn't have had a chance to make that int

Conner kinda reminds me of Wille Parker. I think he'll turn out pretty good as he settles in. He got the jitters out in the 4th qtr.
As for the other standouts today: Matakevich was constantly near the play. More reps will keep him around. TJ Watt looked decent too.

Second team: All Chickillo. He made the most of his reps. Liked his energy today.
Third team: Trey Williams made the game interesting. 5'7 and carried his height well.
Bart Houston and James Conner had a solid 4th qtr. Promising looking depth this time
 
It's only preseason.

Like to see the guys doing the small stuff first. I think the starters and the team overall will improve. Secondary was still awful today. But plenty of time
 
That middle zone just kills us. I'm hoping the young linebackers can close that gap this year. Of course a great consistent pass rush makes everyone else look better. I hope more man coverage has been woven into the fabric.
 
still worried about the secondary and the middle of the field. i like dangerfield too and Aleen did ok in his time to bad Ducre got hurt making a great ST play.The issues with Williams is he done on the list of RB and will they keep him for his punt return skills?

I liked what I saw from Coates, catches in the middle with drag routes, sure hands in traffic and inmediately going for YAC
 
I liked dangerfield in previous years and I would think he has to make the roster now, but who knows. I just hope we find someone who can replace Cockrell he is not starting (slot CB) material. He got abused on a slant route by the goal line and also on a simple deep route + a few other ones. He just does not have it anymore.

I'd rather see the running back who may be in that position during the season get that carry over a QB who will be bagging groceries in three weeks make that throw.
