Cheatham Norrils, CB. Toledo. 5'11" 191. A SPARQ standout, and by standout I mean 93rd percentile. that means only 7 percent of NFL CB tested higher than he did in workouts. He boasts a 40" vertical, an 11" Broad Jump and an insane 6.62 3 cone drill. He has a good size frame to go with that.
He was a four year Basketball player in High School, he has great ball skills and is known for being physical and a competitor. His sophomore season he made 3rd team All-MAC and was an academic all-American nominee. Didn't put up big stats his junior year or get any recognition.
His senior year he redshirted due to a mysterious viral infection that mixed with Pneumonia to become life threatening. He spent months in the hospital before recovering, he lost 30 pounds and was in no type of football shape.
He worked hard, noting that he looks at life differently after his illness, and made it back for the 2015 season.
Week 2 he earned MAC defensive player of the week in Toledo's upset of #18 Arkansas, in which he recorded 8 tackles and 3 pass defenses (including 2 really important ones in the last 2 minutes).
He went on to be named First team All-MAC while helping his team to a 10-2 record. He ended the season with 66 tackles, 3 interceptions and 12 passes defended.
His NFL Draft profile lists a lot of strengths, build, athleticism, ball skills, physicality, tackling. His weakness is his backpedal and tendency to get overly physical. They project him best in off man and zone heavy defenses.
Seriously, Cheatham Norrils is my initial front-runner for the UDFA/Camp invite that makes the team. We have 4 corners and 3 safeties that are safe bets to make the team. He can take one of the other spots.
