Pre combine mock

Round one:: CB Peters. Best playmaking CB in the draft. I like him here for now unless he has a bad combine or more character issues that come out

Round two : OLB Orchard – Good vs. the run or pass. Very productive and instinctive. Stood out at the senior bowl practices and game.

Round three: FS D. Smith – A playmaking safety. Our starting safeties had zero interceptions, and few passes defensed.

Round four: CB Grant – Doubling down on the corner spot. Not sure if McCain can hold up as well as he did in 2014.

Round five: OL Shepard – Quality lineman from Alabama. Could be a RT or G.

Round six: RB Cobb – We need a back up for Bell

Round six, Comp pick: TE Boyle. A house of a blocker with good hands. Impressed at the senior bowl.

Round seven: NT Walton – Tolling for a find. Our NT’s are average at best.

I actually like this mock a lot. I like Peters but think we may take someone such as PJ Williams instead, due to character concerns.

It's a long off season. Mock drafts change when more information comes in and free agents come and go. Can we have a pinned Mock Draft 2015 thread? This way all the traffic will go there.

I mock the mocking of this mock. Seriously, no way we take Peters unless he falls to round 3 or lower. Like the FS Smith pick in round 3. The guy i really want at this point is OLB Marcus Golden. I dont know if hes high value enough for first round and doubt hes still there at our pick in #2.

Why don't you consider taking Peters that high? I'm not sure his character issues are bad enough to pass for a lesser talent.

1 NT/DE Eddie Goldman FSU
2 CB Jalen Collins LSU
3 OLB/De Za'darius Smith Kentucky
4 S Kuris Drummond MSU
5 RB
6 NT Terry Williams East Carolina
6 WR
7 DE

We've been burned lately by guys with character issues. Assaulting an assist coach is a huge red flag. IF we draft him in the first round and he does indeed turn out to be a scum bag it will set us back big time.

^^^ We've been burned by guys with no character issues too. I'm not going to debate as to why but here is an article in usatoday that states the "choking" thing never happened.

The kid admits to being immature and upset about Sark leaving for USC too.

How have "non character issue" guys burned us?

Rainey, Ta'mau and Blount all could have contributed to this team. Adams too, though wether him being on the field is a positive is suspect. A case like Archer isnt realivent: thats a case of the team burning them selves by overrating his talent.

The facts are that Peters was suspended for one game for going "ryan leaf" on the sidelines. There were other issues leading up to an altercation with an assistant coach. Did he choke him? Who knows . . .ive heard claims that he did, that he didnt, either way there is enough red flags around the guy that gambling our 1st round pick on him is just that: too much of a gamble.

There are other good corners in the draft, hopefully we grab one of them in the first 2 rounds. I would like to see us trade back and get OLB Marcus Golden and CB Rollins from Miami. Id have no problem rolling the dice on a guy like Peters, just not in the first round for sure.

If the red flags are false, then Peters is gone in the top 10. That could actually help us by pushing Trae Waynes down closer to where we pick.

^^^ Roethlisberger...no character issues in school...becomes "character issues top 5" gets suspended 6 games.

Pouncey...no character issues...throws drug parties with brother every off-season (per Richie's texts revealed as part of "bullygate"...wears suspected gangster and murderer support hat at b-day bash.

Mendenhall...no character issues...becomes Bin Laden sympathizer...later gets suspended by coach MT for other indiscretions.

Just sayin' Peter's dad was a coach...a coach he grew up learning from and listening to. Some of the worst kids to try to coach are the ones who have someone else they respect more (like their dad) whispering in their ears that their coaches are "doing it wrong" or "using them wrong" etc. He owned up to his mistake. His coaches back him up and continue his scholarship and have spoken highly of his efforts in spite of his immature actions which got him thrown off the team. At least he's not had drug issues or domestic abuse issues like some other highly regarded prospects.

ok, i understand better what you meant. We cant know what we dont know but in the cases of the players i mentioned (and now Peters) we do know. Buyer beware . . .not worth the risk in the 1st round IMO.
