Lets start with CB. Who's that projected 4th or later round CB that you think is better than the experts are saying?

Deiondre' Hall from Northern Iowa is my guy. Let's check the boxes. Production: 11 ints the last two years and 6 last year. Oh, also had 82 tackles with 5.5 being for a loss and 3 forced fumbles. Oh, and two of those picks he brought back to the house. Size: 6-2 200lbs 9 3/4" banana hands and 34 3/8" long arms. Yes, 34 inch long arms! The dude has the length to cover those tall receivers of the NFL. Workout numbers: 4.68 forty but improved to 4.55 at pro day. Vertical 37". Broad jump 10' 7". 3-cone 7.07. 20 yard shuttle 4.06.

I think that 40 time hurt him and some will say that make him a safety. When I watch his tape he looks like a 4.5 guy. I also think he fits well in the zone scheme.
 
Agree on Hall, I hope they're considering him around rnd 4.

You've got to think they're looking at OLB/Edge rushers, ie college DE's that can transition to OLB in our system, like they always do. Initially, I thought a guy like Charles Tapper was strictly a 4-3 DE, but then he ran a 4.5 40 (at nearly 280 pounds!) and that got me looking at his tape again. If they don't go with someone like Calhoun or Spence early, maybe Tapper can be that guy a couple of rounds later. I also think they haven't eliminated Alex McAlister, who'd need to add weight and strength. Further down the board a guy like Stephen Weatherly hits all the marks in what they look for at the position.

I LOVE Justin Simmons as our safety pick, he's been all over the board in mock drafts, as high as rnd 3-4 as low as 6-7. Who knows if he'll linger on the board to become an excellent sleeper pick. I think Sean Davis is a nice prospect that may linger a bit on the board, thus he may be considered a sleeper if he's not drafted early.

I also like some of the late round OL guys that would give Munchak some horses to work with, including Nembot, Valitai and Pierce Slater.
 
Not a CB but my sleeper pick is Jatavis Brown from Akron. LB/SS type. Would be a special teams demon and could play that deon Buchannon type role for us in our nickle package.. If we get a dominant NT in our base maybe able to play next to shazier in our base
 
If we are going to play the nickle as much as 70 percent which we did last year. Don't under estimate a guy who is strictly a pass rusher. Hand down only pass rusher who we doesnt have 3-4 outside LB experience or needs too.
 
Not sure if sleeper or head scratcher but there is a possibility they take a WR rnd 1-3.......

Joe Thuney, OL, NC State. He started at every position on the oline for the wolfpack at one time or another. Similar upside to a guy we drafted in the 7th round a few years ago . . .Kelvin Beachum.
 
Lee from OSU if he slips to 1-25 and the Steelers believe he can convert to ss. Might have Troy/Carnell Lake potential.

I wouldn't say it's a head scratcher. Wheaton is still on his rookie deal, but that is coming to an end very soon. He needs to step up to earn an extension. Coates is in his second year, and he'll need to step up as well. DHB was signed for another 3 years, but even he knows he's a 3-5 WR at best. With Bryant's suspension and no guarantee he will get reinstated, despite the talent we think we have, it's not nearly as deep as last year. And with their success picking WR in the 3-6 rounds, I think its a very good possibility we grab another one.

I agree with what you are saying, but the head scratcher part was intended as if they took WR in rounds 1 /2 /3 as to the pressing needs we have right here right now. I believe FO is making a run for SB, not distant future. Right now, thew receiving Corp is strong enough for a SB run. I don't doubt a WR may be chosen, just not in first 3 rounds.

CB Ryan Smith North Carolina Central, they bought him in for a visit so he could be a late round pick
 
QB Dak Prescott in the 4th or QB Brandon Allen in the 6th. This doesn't represent my opinion of these two, rather the interest the Steelers have shown in them. Maybe if neither they snag QB Vernon Adams in the 7th or as an undrafted.
 
I also love SS Justin Simmons, but I'm just astounded by the little value being shown towards him as well as SS Kevin Byard? I love both these guys.
 
For safety, since ianv2012 took Simmons who I like, I will go deeper and say Michael Caputo S from Wisconsin. He's a hard-nosed tackling machine. He reads and reacts with the QB, takes good angles, tackles well, plays thru injury, and is a leader of the defense. Probably a 7th rounder who plays 6+ years in the NFL.

Which spot? 1st? 2nd? I just struggle to see the Steelers taking a chance on a guy who is questioned for his lack of work ethic and motor, plus off the field issues in the 1st let alone the 2nd. If they do want to take a chance I don't see them even considering Nkemdiche until the 2nd, and even then I think I'd rather have Javon Hargrave honestly.
 
OLB Dadi Nicholas VT

Dadi stats dipped in a big way going from 18.5 tfl and 9 sacks to 7 tfl and 2.5 sacks as a senior. He still seemed to get pressure just couldn't find his way to the QB. Seemed like he struggles with strength and will need to hit the weight room. But is quick off the snap, natural pass rush moves, and good enough speed to turn the corner.
 
DE Dean Lowry

Smart kid who has good product in the big ten. Nice size at 6-6 296 but does have shorter arms for a 6-6 guy at 31". But looking at production he compares to Joey Bosa this last year. Day 3 guy who reminds me a little of Aaron Smith.
 
NT Vincent Valentine

True 3-4 NT. Eats up blocks and can handle double teams. If left alone with the center he takes his lunch money and throws him aside. Not much of a pass rusher but that's not his forte he eats up the blocks to allow bothers to make the big play. Again likely late round guy who can be a good situational football player.
 
ILB Nick Kwiatkoski

Kwiatkoski I feel is a solid second round prospect but he's rated as a 4th. He has awesome production, great feel for the pass defense, and in a weak ILB has better than average workout numbers. I feel he is a poor man's Luke Kuechly.
 
OL Isaac Seumalo

I think Seumalo has awesome versatility and can pretty much play anywhere on the line. I think he's best suited for the interior and could backup all three spots. He has quick feet, great technician, seems to never be out of place or off balanced. To me he's a perfect zone blocking interior lineman.
 
OT Fahn Cooper

Everybody knows Jeremy Tunsil but Cooper played well in his place during injuries and suspension. Not the physical specimen Tunsil is but he's 6-4 305lbs with 34.75" arms and big old banana hands at 10". If he wasn't overshadowed by Tunsil I feel he'd have starts at LT and been a solid second or third round pick. But I feel he might slide to round 5-6 according to draft niks so I feel he'd a steal there.
 
TE Ryan Malleck

Malleck is nothing spectacular in terms of size, speed, production but he does everything well. He sits in soft spots in zone coverage, has good hands, and blocks well. Probably not going to be the next Gronk but a starter who gets the job done I could see. Or a very quality #2 TE.
