QB Ben Roethlisberger,Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges

I think Lynch hasn't shined enough to overtake Duck.

RB James Conner, Benny Snell,Jaylen Samuels , and Anthony McFarland Jr.

I was wavering between Jaylen and Wendell Smallwood. This could probably go easily either way.

On the outside looking in (Kerrith Whyte)

FB Derek Watt Thall shall be only one.

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster,Diontae Johnson,James Washington,Chase Claypool,Ryan Switzer, & Ray-Ray McCloud

I think Deon Cain just misses.,

TE Vance McDonald,Eric Ebron and Zach Gentry

I think there will be no surprises here.

OL Alejandro Villanueva, Stefen Wisniewski, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Matt Feiler, Chukwuma Okorafor, Zach Banner, Derwin Gray and Kevin Dotson

Not sure the extent of DeCastro's injury so I keep one extra O-lineman

{26)

DL Cameron Heyward,,Stephon Tuitt,Tyson Alualu.,Chris Wormley, Daniel McCullers, and Isaiah Buggs

Big Dan skates by yet again.

OLB Bud Dupree,T.J. Watt,Alex Highsmith, and Olasunkanmi Adeniyi

Tuzar Skipper practice squad bound.

ILB Devin Bush,Vince Williams,Ulysses Gilbert and Robert Spillane

Special teams allow Spillane to stick.

CB Joe Haden,Steven Nelson,Mike Hilton,Cameron Sutton,Justin Layne

I am hoping Layne makes a jump forward.

S Minkah Fitzpatrick,Terrell Edmunds,Jordan Dangerfield,Curtis Riley, and Antoine Brooks

I don't think they risk trying to sneak Brooks onto the PS which leads to Marcus Allen's exit.

You can make changes until we find out the extent of DeCastro's injury. then I will give a lock down date.

Love it Slash, my only changes to your list are I think Marcus Allen makes it as a LB and we don't keep Brooks.

If Allen makes it, I think Spillaine does not and that leaves a slot for Tuzar Skipper.

EXCELLENT list and break down slash.

I think when Lynch got the chance, he didn't shine. He had a bad day at practice and unfortunately it was his spotlight time. If DUCK is the better QB than so be it.

I think SWITZ is still a question mark all the way down to the end and it comes down to if he is healthy.

Great analogy slash

I was thinking about this scenerio just wasn't sure about Brooks being PS exposed if they saw anything they liked about him in camp. I also was thinking with Allen sometimes with those position changes it is seeing if you have enough to stick and or it is seeing if they can put you somewhere else as they have seen enough of you elsewhere and not in a favorable light. If DeCastro is good to go this also opens another spot on my list for a D player. Which can go to Allen or Skipper or Elliott.

Great list. Wouldn't bother changing one or two guys that I might think (at best). I would say Skipper needs to beat out Ola. I can't see them exposing Highsmith to waivers and I disagree Cope, they cannot go with three inside linebackers. Skipper gets the PS if he isn't claimed. I agree Big Dan makes this roster. The dude will end up fully pensioned with the most ridiculously low snap totals all time. I know he has made tackles, but i can honestly say I have zero memory of like a stuffed short yardage play where I said Dan made that play, whether he made the tackle or not. I mean good on Dan. For whatever reason they keep him around.

OFFENSE (25)

QB (3) Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Devlin Hodges

I haven't been particularly confident with Lynch after he didn't do enough to get a look after they signed him last year...and that's when our QBs were awful. On top of that, there haven't been any reports of him turning heads in camp.

RB (4) James Conner, Benny Snell, Jaylen Samuels, Anthony McFarland Jr.

Tomlin alluded to the team signing veterans (Smallwood) to go to the practice squad. I'm looking for a player to replace Samuels, but I just don't see it.

FB (1) Derek Watt

I don't know how much Canada will have influence in the scheme, but if he does, Watt will get a surprising number of touches.

WR (6) Ju Ju Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, James Washington, Chase Claypool, Ryan Switzer, & Ray-Ray McCloud

McCloud has been generating a little buzz as a receiver and returner. They also have a lot of outside receivers making Cain less valuable as a No. 5 or 6.

TE (3) Eric Ebron, Vance McDonald, Kevin Rader

I believe Rader can make a bigger impact on special teams, which gives him the edge for me.

OL (8) Alejandro Villanueva, Matt Feiler, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Chukwuma Okorafor, Stefan Wisniewski, Zach Banner, Kevin Dotson

I think this is pretty clear cut, but as slash said, it could change with the extend of DeCastro's injury

DEFENSE (25)

DL (6) Cameron Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Tyson Alualu, Chris Wormley, Daniel McCullers, Isaiah Buggs

No surprises here.

(5) OLB T.J. Watt, Bud Durpee, Alex Highsmith, Ola Adeniyi, Tuzar Skipper

With Dupree in his final year, I am keeping an extra pass rusher.

ILB (4) Devin Bush,Vince Williams,Ulysees Gilbert, Robert Spillane, Marcus Allen

The wild card here is if Marcus Allen makes it as a hybrid defender.

CB (5) Joe Haden, Steven Nelson, Mike Hilton, Cam Sutton, Justin Layne

I'd think 6 would be possible here, I just don't know enough bout the other CBs.

S (5) Minkah Fitzpatrick,Terrell Edmunds, Curtis Riley, Antoine Brooks

There have been positive reports about Riley and his experience should find him on the depth chart as a top backup. I would probably put Dangerfield in if Allen doesn't make it, but he is just limited to playing special teams.

Canaday has battled an injury and I always think they're open to replacing Berry, but we shall see.

With no games to loo look at and no trip to camp, we are all just shooting from the hip and guessing based on reports and previous seasons. Of course, that works in the teams favor in some cases - no other team has any Preseason game film or scouts in other team camps to get eyes on camp surprises. So, a guy who is impressing in camp may well be someone you can stash on the PS without as much risk as him being poached. I also assume that the Steelers are going to keep as much continuity so expect some conservative roster decisions. Guys like Switz and Dangerfield are guys they know. Late round pick or UDFA's are gonna have a hard time knocking on those doors this year. So, with all that said, my complete finger in the air swag....

Offense: 25

QB(3): Ben, Mason, Duck

Reports I read from Dale at DKPS is PL has not done anything to displace Duck. Problem is he does not have an NFL arm. He is a great story and seemingly a great guy, but he just doesn’t have the arm. Alas, there is nothing coming out of reports or camp or even last year to suggest Paxton was doing anything special. At this point in Lynch's career...well...hasn't seemed to have flashed anywhere yet adn he was a first round pick.

Truth is, I almost went with "Not yet on roster" for the third stringer. That is to say, we might pick someone up off waivers after cuts next week. Problem is, this team is very conservative with things like that and with no pre-season games I don’t see them going outside.

RB(5): JC, Snell, Samuels, Mcfarland, Watt (FB)

I believe Trey Edmunds played quite a bit of ST last year, so would not shock me to see him on the roster. Maybe the expanded 55.

WR(6): Ju-Ju, DJ, Washington, Claypool, McCloud, Switz

I dont’ like Switz. I get he is quick, but has just not been impressive to me on offense or ST. But, he does have a relationship with Big Ben. I’d rather see a Cain get a shot over Switz, but that may be an ST decision.

TE(3): Vance, Ebron, Gentry

Just don't see any boat rockers here. The first two guys are going to be exciting duo to watch this year. Between injuries and no pre-season games, not sure Radar can knock Gentry off the list here.

OL(8) : Big Al, Fieler, Pounce, DD, Chucks, Banner, Wisniewski, Dotson team kept J.C. Hassenauer

Derwin Grey gets the OL hat to the expanded 55.

Defense (25)

DL (6): Cam, Tuitt, Wormley, AluAlu, Buggs, McCullers Team kept Davis

Big Dan slips in again.

LB (9): Watt, Dupree, Highsmith, Ola, Vince, Bush, Gilbert, Spillane Tuzar

Tuzar is definitely a bubble guy. He is the 53rd man on my roster so could easily be dropped for another ST player. Not sure how much ST time he has had.

CB (5): Nelson, Joe H, Sutton, Hilton, Layne[/B] team kept James Pierre

Dale says Pierre has caught eyes but a small school prospect and no preseason game tape, good chance they can stash him on the PS.

S(5): Minkah, Edmunds, Riley, Allen, Dangerfield

Riley been getting some good ink in the press. Allen is ST guy and versatile. Dangerfield could get some push from Brooks, but I think the team will be conservative here and go with the guy the know in Dangerfield and put Brookes on the PS.

Specialists (3): Berry, Bos, Canaday
They aren’t going to upset the apple cart here. Berry is not just punter, but also holder. With this limited offseason, they aren’t going to inject any change with these guys.

He's kind of that "insurance" policy that never gets cashed in, not that I want him to have to be the "cash in" part.

Can’t see them listing Allen as a LB. think it’s more or less testing position flexibility as he played better in the box in college. Kind of like Hilton working as backup safety, he’s not truly changing positions... just there in an emergency situation. Spillane is all but a lock to me. He may not play a ton meaningful defensive snaps unless there is an injury, but he is one of those sneaky beasts on special teams.

According to ILB coach Olsavsky, Allen is already in the LB room. I think it will come down to potential on D paired with ability on ST between Spillaine and Allen.

they been experimenting with 3 safety sets for years. that puts one safety in box. if a guy can play that hybrid role plus ST he is pretty valuable. may cast trey Edmunds (rb) the st slot. I assume mini watt will play teams.

Impressive you still managed to misspell a name you quoted. Anyways the word in training camp was Gentry had a good camp not sure he is on the bubble we'll see.

Definitely bubble guys, no preseason and not seeing any camp to note has an effect on all of it. Majority of roster predictions I’ve noticed are very very similar. Wonder if Pierre showed enough also to sneak onto the 53 and bump somebody like Tuzar off.

Can anyone remember a pair of players continually sticking around who have done less than Big Dan, and Switz?

I made a couple of switches. Given the Steelers have two legit tight ends this year, I don't think they need 6 receivers so McLoud is out. I also decided to go with the higher upside in Gentry over Rader at TE. With the open spot, I added James Pierre because he is the only unknown to have flashed and I wanted to add a sixth CB to my roster, so he gets the spot. Since my original post, I also read that Brooks had not made an impression so I put Dangerfield on the roster. Although it's been reported he's already been released, I still would've predicted Skipper on my final roster.
