Post Pats Expectations

Didn't change mine at all. They will still compete for the division. Their schedule isn't that difficult especially since the bungles are horrible and the clowns are over rated. That should be 4 wins right there. Then if you split with the rats that's 5 games. Then they have Miami after a bye week. 6 wins. They plays the Bills, Jets, and a bad AZ team. That's 9 games. They have the Colts at home without Luck and an average Seachickens. That should be at least 11 wins. They play 3 of the worst teams in the league. If they can't make the playoffs with that cupcake schedule then everyone should be fired.

Unfortunately, after what I saw last Sunday night I'm not sure we can chalk up wins that easily. The issues weren't physical, they were mental and the Steelers looked like they were in elementary school while the Pats were sitting for their doctorate in football. I hope I'm wrong and the brain dead mistakes will stop but they will have to prove it before I believe it will change. Your logic is sound for getting to 10 or 11 wins, but many things have to change and change quickly.

The team is led by Dum Dums. Starting at the top with the Deuce. Nobody can admit that they made a mistake, so they just keep extending them. The best talent walks away from the madness (IE MUNCH) mediocre talent walks away from the madness (IE James) and somehow that leaves a huge void???

The AB Plague that has been unleashed on the league was created by Coach Tomlin by going back to his lab, so to speak, if you will, one too many times. Does he own it?

The league, also run by higher paid political Dum Dums, folds it's arm as the AB virus flies to NE to play in Gillette Stadium (the most "Woke" venue in all of sports) because they see TB getting number #7 and they see this as a further repudiation of Spygate (Fingers Crossed)

Meanwhile they hire JZ to help the NFL get past the Kaepernick disaster despite his misogynist songs, (available on iTunes)

The media won't say boo because they like the NFL circuit, the parties, the lifestyle and will not write anything that threatens to cut off their access.

**** all this Bull ****. It does not matter.

If the league does not care about the integrity of the game, and the team owner does not care about the product on the field AND winning a Championship, then why should I?

WWF Bozo Bullshit.

Last I heard, we have an opioid epidemic in this country and people are dying from illegal drugs and have been going back to before Len Bias.

Can someone tell me how Patrick Chung is on the field and didn't tarnish the shield? Oh, I know there is precedent in the way similar cases were handled, but are they really going to suspend for weed and give the benefit of the doubt to coke?

Not to mention Kraft's shield-tarnishing connection to a human trafficking ring.

This is the point in the match where Jesse the Body Ventura bellows "Don't you tell me you didn't see nothin', McMahon!"

West coast teams are the Steelers kryptonite, plus losing to a bad team (Miami) wouldn't shock me with this teams brain trust.

Tomlin is Wayne Fontes with better talent.

I fear that the Steelers are going to have another slow start and at seasons end we’ll be looking back at how it changed their playoff standing. If I’m a betting man, I’m taking the Seahawks +4.

A potential matchup nightmare for Steelers vs. Seahawks

Now the Steelers face a receiver similar to Gordon who has tight end-esque size and strength Sunday. That’s the Seattle Seahawks’ DK Metcalf.

The rookie out of Mississippi had four receptions for 89 yards in his debut against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“He’s a physical specimen,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “He looks like a linebacker but runs like a wideout. He’s a talented guy. He creates some matchup issues. He’s freaky.”

No exaggeration from Tomlin there. Metcalf is listed at 6-foot-4, 229 pounds. All muscle. His physique was the talk of the 2019 NFL Combine. After he got measured, Metcalf shot up draft boards. The Seahawks selected him with the last pick in the second round.

Don't disagree with that. But I'm not going to judge the entire season on playing NE in NE. I don't think they'll win the SB but they aren't going to lose 8 to 10 games this year. Not everybody has NE's defense or ability to adjust.

Also Medcalf is a machine. I watched him at Ole Miss and he is a freak.

He'd look good in B&G, oh wait... we don't have a 2nd rd pick

How have your season expectations changed after that Pats debacle?

mine have actually changed very little, although that little bit that changed is pretty important. I still think the steelers will win the North and have one of the best records in the AFC and maybe make a deep playoff run.

what changed? I’m not sure they can beat the Pats. I really expected them to either win or have a competitive loss vs the Pats. I felt the offense still matched up well vs the pats defense and the steelers new speed on defense should have been able to deal with the Pats rub routes.

But then they played and the biggest takeaway is just how enormous the gap is between these coaching staffs. The pats obviously adjusted to what the steelers last did to them and the steelers looked like they were surprised that the Pats like quick rub routes.

It’s hard to believe this staff can come up with a plan that the Pats won’t see coming a mile away.

Yes, many many players had a terrible game and should be ashamed. But part of that was the ludicrous things they were asked to do, especially on offense.

I’ll stop there and just say that I now doubt this dumb team can beat the smart Pats in the playoffs.

The steelers best chance is to get the 2 seed so they would likely not face the Pats until the AFCC and could hope that the Ravens or Chiefs take out the Pats for the steelers.

having said all that, I think the steelers will smash the Seahawks this week....Unless the gameplan is to abandon the run and feature Switzer and Montcrief in the passing game.

Nice post.

This defense, without Sean Davis, looked like Charles Barkley in Larry Bird's gym shorts...turrible.

My expectations have not changed either...

They wouldn't have drafted him anyway. He was hurt a lot at Ole MIss and even suffered a neck injury. He's a long ball threat right now. He struggles with drops as well. Especially if he is coming back for the ball. But he will cause the Steelers fits because of safeties.

I think they sacked our dear Benjamin 9 times that game.

There is a lot of season and historically we get stronger as the season evolves. I'm counting on that and have faith as a whole, they'll step up.

Salute the nation

They ran that punt block defense 95% of the game...Ben got killed.

If one game changes ones mind, life is gonna really suck for that individual.

Losses happen, blow outs happen...It's only 1 game

It's not "1 game" in the sense that we've seen this horror movie since 2002 on defense. More recently, we keep hearing about "communication issues." We're talking more about the longitudinal history that suggests the Coaching Staff has no clothes. Tomlin had Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin in their primes , drafted defense in the first round 7 years in a row, and won 3 underwhelming playoff games.

The stress cracks and fatal flaws run way deeper than one game and necessitate changes at the top.

Its been a problem with the *'s for a long time. For us different coaches up and down the line, maybe same QB, but, maybe different, different everything on our side.

once constant on the other cheating with Ernie, Bill and Marsha.

Why would being 1-1 change your mind. We are still run by the dumbest coach in the league, right?

It’s much harder to make the playoffs starting at 0-2.

The margin of error between the playoffs or no playoffs can be just one game.

But since you asked, yes I think Tomlin is a big reason why we blow a game we should have won.
