Post combine and diva mock draft

If I had a heavy bag in my garage I'd be re-arranging the stuffing out of it, but since I don't how about a post combine and diva mock draft.


1 ) Corner Back, Greedy Wiliams. I'd like Metcalf, but I think he's off the board at this point. Williams ball skills, height, and speed, and instincts are things you can't coach.


2 ) Inside linebacker, Mack Willson. An instant upgrade from who we have starting, Wilson is a 3 down linebacker type.


3A) Wide Receiver, Terry McLaurin. A taller speed WR is exactly what we need.


3B ) Defensive back, Isaiah Johnson. I like him at free safety or corner. The new theme at DB should be speed and playmaking ability.


4 ) Inside linebacker, Ben Burr-Kirven. Ultra-productive with eye-opening combine numbers.


5 ) Kicker, Cole Tracy. The best of the kickers in the draft, at least he has confidence.


6 ) BPA DL/Edge

All corners are question marks. Maybe Baker is the safest of the bunch. I took two corners early in this mock.


Williams has height, speed, hands and playmaking instincts. When the ball is in the air, he acts like it's his. I'd trust Williams deep, on the on the sideline, and he's the type to jump a route or make a QB pay on a bad throw. We have not had a corner like this in many years.


I tend to wonder if Qb's stayed away from him last season? Can any LSU fans tell me how often he was tested? If the answer is not that often, it makes his passes defended and interception total for the past two years even more impressive.


The NFL is a passing league. Our DB's aren't good at creating turnovers and it's costing us games. We need turnovers.


Is he a little weak vs. the run? Sure, he's also just 21 years old with a December birthday. He can get stronger.


In two years starting Williams has 8 interceptions and 19 passes defended in the SEC. He has room for improvement. When it comes to turnovers I'm greedy, and this man can get them.

See, I want to believe that Coach watches the games and provides us with analysis from his viewing. We, on the other hand, who watch SEC football RELIGIOUSLY, KNOW that Greedy Williams is NOT A SHUTDOWN DB and he only has elite speed.

Coach, please, sir, do not watch the highlight reel of the kid - go back and watch 2 or 3 games from LSU over the past 2 years. You'd only be bringing in another Artie Burns IMO.

Here's the thing - Baker has all the tools that Deion Sanders had EXCEPT his speed. Pair this kid w/ Hayden and now we have two top shelf corners. Once we solve the ILB problem - the defense will be special again...

About 6-7 games a year. Usually, the marquee matchups, depending on what my plans are on Saturday. If I don't see the game, I usually catch up on the highlights or box scores for the teams. Where I live the Florida Gators get too much attention! Not that I'm anti Gator, some of my best friends love them. I just feel they are overexposed if you will.


I do believe in the SEC and Big Ten.


As for this draft game, it's too easy. For example, I highly doubt we could get Jamel Dean in round six! I do like your first two picks.


Renfrow doesn't have a big catch radius by the way. However, he's a quick son of a gun who knows routes and gets the most out of his ability.


Grandson opened some eyes at the senior bowl with his wide speed rush, but unfortunately, he's a one trick pony and very weak vs the run. A specialist pass rusher only if you will.

I still think ILB is our biggest and most glaring need. I go White or Bush in Round 1, if either are there. If not, I can see the Steelers drafting Wilson in Rd. 1 if they want to reach for a ILB. The could go CB but I don't like that pick in Rd. 1 unless White and Bush are gone. I can even see them going WR in Rd. 1 as they always say they will take a top skill player over almost anyone else.

In Rd. 2, I go best CB available. I can see the Steelers looking WR here as well.

In Rd. 3, I go best big and fast WR with good hands. I'd even take a 4.5 or 4.55 big WR with good hands over another WR under 6 foot.

With our 2nd 3rd round pick, I go straight BPA. Although, I would personally like to see that be OLB, another ILB (yes, double dip at our biggest weakness since Vince W. is barely a starter and getting older), or even one of the top TE's if they are still available. If James is gone and McDonald goes back to being injury prone, we need a 2nd TE.

Much like what he thinks about a player’s Senior Bowl/Shrine Bowl and Combine performance takes precedence over meaningful games played in college.

It’s funny, Coach is head over heels for a corner who Deion Sanders, the epitome of a non-tackling defensive playmaker, criticized him on a live broadcast during the combine as having poor technique.

What is the odds the Steelers could identify a lockdown corner and then develop him?

Too late IMO in Ben's career to be playing dice.

They are ****** at drafting corners so you go the free agent route. Two if you count Sens which wouldn't cost a lot.

If any position needs to be solid for a run it is corner. A rookie might take you two to three years to develop if they do at all.

At least with a free agent corner you know what you are getting.
