Yeah but that SB run he was gold. Always be fond of him for that.

Absolutely slash but also because he got shot in the butt,....... He had that ONE FAMOUSE line.........."they shot me in the butt" which made him famous in STEELERS lore...............

I got this, they shot me in Denver !

Gildong and Peezy are not far off.
Peezy stands out for the emotional rally when he was a player
Porter was way better than Gildon, Porter was one of the more underrated Steelers. He was good in all areas, pass rush, run defense, pass coverage. I think when he retired, he was the only LB in NFL history to have 50+ sacks and 10+ ints. Having said all that, he's a ******* *** face for trying to get camera time and attention with this bullshit.
The one guy that none of these guys mention or blame is Tomlin, if these guys don't like Ben calling them out, then where is Tomlin he's the coach, why he isn't he demanding better from these guys?

Porter is a thug and a loudmouth. I blame Tomlin 100% because this guy wasn't even 1% qualified to be a coach in the NFL and should have never been around this team after he retired except for pomp and circumstance bullshit reliving the good ole' 2006 Super Bowl.

Everyone here knows this. Porter's IQ meter is below low. Is he coaching in the NFL now? Of course not. He might be barely qualified to coach high school yet our great leader thought highly enough of him to inspire and lead impressionable athletes on this team? It's a joke.

Bringing in players like Vick. Making players like Porter coaches. All signs of just plain incompetancy from Tomlin. We will never be anything under this guy. Ever. Rant over. I can't stand Porter.

None of them mention Tomlin or his leadership ever. hmmmmmmm.......... I wonder why?

I'm assuming they can't speak bad about Tomlin(any player).
I think Tomlin has more authority along with a few coaches and owners in the nfl.

You speak negative, good luck finding a job in the league.
I wanted to think it was a locker room culture thing.

But I think it's a league wide power thing.
As long as they make money.

As I recall, there was scuttlebutt when Porter left as a player that the FO didn't want to saddle the new HC with such a strong and polarizing personality in Porter the player.

Seems that Tomlin and Porter also had a very negative synergy together as coaches from Porter going on the field to the rumored unseemly behavior at high school games.

I suspect many of the former player, talking heads on NFLN and ESPN going after Ben share some secret, Prince Hall handshakes with Tomlin and thus respect the symbolism of the office and organization if not the HC's performance to a man.

Very much agree, and will not get involved with race baiting here, but to think the race of the players and the coach and the fact that no one ever seems to talk about him..............pretty naive not to consider.

Yeah Joey I've watched this team closely for a good 25 years. Like every game. Lloyd was better than you, Kirkland was better than you, Chad Brown was better than you. Now look at your ring finger and ask why you have one.

Ummm, so was Ham, Lambert, Harrison, Greene, Farrior, Russell, Woodley, Merriweather, Cole, Bell, Holmes, and a few more. Oh and Gildon.

Porter had his moments, but he was more mouth than production and he was never mean, like the better LBs are. Even his sacks were not violent, more like laying a QB down, not blowing him up.

What? Have you even seen him play? Porter almost always tried to strip the ball. He didn't want to fly by the QB and let him get away. So he intentionally tried to hit, wrap up and strip the ball. That's why he had 98 sacks and 25 forced fumbles. I don't give a damn about violent sacks. He went after the ball instead of flying by the QB because he wanted a highlight on sports center.

You act as if the two are mutually exclusive: You CAN offer violent hits AND strip the ball too. Lloyd made strip sacks all the time and was voted - by his peers - as the most feared player in the league. Just because dumb *** Dupree runs by the QB all day doesn't mean others can't apply hard hits AND strip the ball.

Maybe that's why Lloyd only had half the sacks as Porter? I also don't give a damn about "most feared player". Worthless IMHO.

Former players and even former great players doing this crap just tarnishes their image in Pittsburgh and to me, I don't care if they ever come back to Pittsburgh. Joey is just showing himself to be a whiny ***** disgruntled former coach. He's mad his sorry *** got ****-canned.

Peezey needs to accept that he was the scapegoat for Tomlin and shut up. Ben had nothing to do with him being shown the door, and Ben didn't need to apologize for calling out Brown acting a fool.

Excellent point. And let's pretend for a minute that Ben is out of control. Who is responsible to keep that in check......

Only in Pittsburgh is the Captain not responsible for the ship. Missing the playoffs with 8 Pro Bowlers in a weak sister Division usually gets people fired. In Pittsburgh, it probably gets a contract extension.

As said by others (Deljzk for one), Porter should have NEVER been a coach on this team. He had NO credentials but more importantly, he couldn't coach. He used his job as a bouncing board to keep himself relevant in the young players mind. He was sort of living out beyond his playing days by keeping the power over the new guys by acting like he was great and they bought into it. PEEZy needed gone but even at that, Tomlin fell short by not explaining to Joey why he was being non-renued, in plain to the point language and if this was done properly, PEEZy would be silent right now. There are other coaches on this team that NEED replaced and I'm pretty sure Tomlin isn't extended yet due to a wait and see how this season plays out.....................

They played Lloyd to do much more than rush the passer; he was great at EVERYTHING. If you think Porter was a better LB than 95, I got some swampland to sell you.

Porter better than Lloyd? Smoke some more shizzie be piss pots.
