Hey guys,

What a freakin nail-biter. If I don't have to go the hospital for heart problems, I'll be doing the podcast on Tuesday at 2pm.

Thoughts, questions and quips?

I already got a good one from Hoot's PM. Hopefully we have a lot to talk about. It's Rats week!

What approach do you see the Steelers taking against the rats?

Reviewing history of the rivalry—can date it back to 2001 and when Ravens/Steelers rivalry really began

They’ve played in postseason 4 times, Steelers won 3 and 2 were classics

Played head to head for division title on line 4x. Steelers won all 4 & 3 of them on the road, and 3 won in final 2 minutes

Finally got a chance to listen to the Joe Thomas podcast.......great job as usual and thanks for posing my question

Stop the run........ is this the primary focus against Lamar and the Ravens when formulating a game plan?

have a trivia question. Who is the only unbeaten team left in the NFL?

The Ravens have one of the top scoring defenses in the NFL. Is that a product of THEIR weak schedule? Teams they have beat have a .285 winning percentage even after factoring in Cleveland's .714.

What changed in the second half vs the Titans. What defensive adjustments did they make that made it harder for our offense?

also

ON the road vs the titans we won the toss and took the ball to start the game. Will we do the same thing vs the ravens on the road? (if we win the toss)

If Robert Spillane leaves MLB Station and presses the A gap at the same time Lamar Jackson speeds to the 2 hole on a QB draw, how many minutes will Lamar be out cold?

edit: granted, this is probably a better question for Drunk Cope.

1) I think the STEELERS have beaten the Ravens three time in one season. How significant is that and how often does that happen throughout the NFL vs other teams ?

2) Take away their # offensive strength, what is their #1 strength offensively

3) Not a peep about Lamar being MVP this year, what kind of a season is he having ?

4) Who is in the Come Back Player of the Year conversation and is Roethlisberger a leading candidate at this point of the season?

5) Bud Dupree or JuJu, either player has depth as back up and which one of their departure would be less felt

COPE, you the MAN and thanks for doing these

The focus has to be on the RPO offense and how the defense can keep from giving up big runs and also defend against the pass option in the middle of the field. The Rats love throwing to TEs and this is the game where we will first notice Bush is not on the field. Do they drop Edmunds down to play man on TEs this game?

I can't guess the answer but I saw Edmonds down low once yesterday or so I thought. Coaches will come up with something and I trust them enough to be the right things. Hell our "D" scheme is the best or near best in the NFL so they should have something for those ratbirds.

I'm thinking a very good game by two very stubborn teams with a STEELERS close win.

Yes, especially since I'm confused about your holes...

Gaps are A, B, C, D. Position numbers are defensive and a 2 is lined straight up on the guard. A gap is between the guard and center.

I've thought I've seen D'ang neared everything but now I can add another to my list,..............

"Hole Confusion"

edit: now that I am at my destktop:

C----B----A-----A---B----C
---T----G----C----G----T
-5----3---1-----2----4----6

BTW - classic 2 hole is between OC and RG. There have been many variations. PSU used to number holes straight across from left to right if the play went right. But they would flip the numbers from right to left if going left. Some coaches do mark the Linemen rather than the hole itself as you stated. I think that became more popular with the advent for zone running. But, either way, the Left A gap to the defense is the 2 hole for the offense.

So, once again we see a difference in nomenclature. There is no universal standard - varies from coach to coach.

another edit: Re-reading your post. I think you might have been thinking of the defensive techniques for numbering. I was flipping the field on you since Lamar would run to the 2 hole (offense perspective) but Spillane the A gap (defense). Lamar would never run to the 2 technique. that would be silly unless he also plays MLB.

Who do you expect to be the offensive star this week? (I know, missed the podcast. Still a question I'd like to see considered though.)
