So, if we go 1-1 to end the season and the Titans lose to New Orleans and beat the Texans, we end up with the same record and conference record. There is no head-to-head, so who takes the spot?

I'm not really sure, I usually just go game to game. However, I'm pretty sure that ESPN has a playoff calculator you can use to run different scenarios, you could try that.

Titans get in. They have the tie breaker on strength of schedule. I don’t see us winning another game this year.

We'll beat the Jets. CAN'T WAIT!

So lets go 2-0. No problem

Gerry Dulac says he fully expects Mason to be the starting QB again next week... so yeah, we aren't winning another game this year.

I think the only potential playoff team the Steelers could possibly beat would be whoever the AFC South Champion ends up being.

According to DKSports Pitt has the tie breaker. Plus TEN plays NO who would be playing for a bye and finish up with HOU.

There is a 70% chance we still get in... SOS isn’t fixed... it depends on how teams people played and beat do... tge nytimes has a playoff odds generator that is team specific

We were never going anywhere in the playoffs anyway. I always saw us as one and done unless we got VERY lucky. That’s why I don’t understand complaints that “we haven’t beaten anyone,” as though we “are someone.”

Not sure about that just yet. They could have switched to Rudolph for a series or two last night and kept him on the bench.

Not sure what that solves. Seems like once we made the decision to go with Hodges, there’s no real going back (barring injury). It certainly wouldn’t be a vote of confidence for Rudolph.

If we go 1-1 and the Titans lose to the Saints but beat the Texans, they are in...if they beat the Saints but lose to the Texans, the Steelers are in

Yeah, I did the playoff machine, and according to it if PIT wins vs jets, but loses to BAL
and TEN loses to NO and wins vs HOU, they have to go the 4th tiebreaker (strength of victory) and it gives TEN the nod.

it's crazy. if we lose to jets, but beat ravens, it improves our chances (if we are 9-7)

lots of variables still with the strength of victory stuff

Strength of schedule is not the tie breaker in this scenario.

Overall record, head to head and conference record are the immediate tiebreakers between Titans and Steelers. And you can obviously excuse the head to head as they won't have it.

Steelers beating the Ravens or Jets helps in overall record and conference record. We as the Titans wouldn't benefit the same with a win over the Saints. That would only benefit the overall record. As long as the Steelers conference record ends up better than Titans, they'll get in over them.

The Titans. Basically, the Steelers HAVE to win at least one and the Titans have to lose both.

Pretty much Pittsburgh is done. The Titans play the Saints and I expect they will have a tough time with that game, but they may win. Then they play Houston, who will likely have the division wrapped up and may choose to sit some guys. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has to figure out how to score SOMETHING on the Jets, even though I expect the defense to to their usual great job. And it doesn't matter WHAT the Ravens do, the Steelers aren't beating them.

So, basically, pray for a Titans implosion. Had the Steelers won yesterday, they were virtually guaranteed a spot, losing however made it pretty unlikely.

If we go 1-1 and Tennessee loses to the Saints but beats Houston I believe in that scenario the 4th tie breaker would kick in, strength of victory. Each team then earns a score based on the quality of the teams they beat, the better the team the higher the score. Not sure who would win that one and I guess that may not be determined until after completion of the final game.

And will Houston be playing for nothing the final game and rest players? Lots of possibilities to consider. Of course, win out and we don't have to worry about these things.

oddly enough, if we beat JETS and lose to BAL
and TEN beats NO, but loses to HOU

we get in

at least according to espn machine

it depends on WHICH games are won to get to 9-7

That's incorrect. If we win 1 more game and Titans lose to the Texans, were in. The question is, will the Texans be resting players in that game?
