Pittsburgh Re-Signs Zach Banner

Zach Banner released a video on Twitter captioned “Let’s get to work…” detailing his return to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He thanked Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin, and Art Rooney II during the video and said he has been focusing on himself and setting goals. One of those goals being winning a Super Bowl with the Steelers.

He will work his *** off past 2 years he was fined each day for being over a certain wieght target he’s going to be ready and extra motivated

We need to draft a legitamit LT who starts from the get go. Banner barely beat out chucs at right tackle.

I’m worried at this point. Banner has done what exactly to warrant a 9 mil contract? The guy was cut from a horrible 0-16 Browns team. I had read that Cool Shades told Banner he was counting on him as his LT. That’s scary! Hopefully he fights it out with Chuks for RT and our first round pick is a LT then we pick up a veteran center. Otherwise this will be an ugly season and bringing back Ben won’t make sense.

I agree with your assessment and they must not ignore an OT early but he must have shown them something last summer as a starting right tackle. The contract really isn't an issue. Hopefully he's working hard on his foot work for pass protection for depth at LT which can only help him at his eventual opening day spot on the "right" side.
 
That was a big signing that won't be super sexy, but now they don't HAVE to draft a tackle. They could go best olineman and it doesn't necessarily have to be first round either.
I really believe this is starting to round out to the Bama running back in round one if available. I'm thinking he will be my pick. I've been correct with Watt, Bush, and Claypool. Missed on Edmunds, but so did the Steelers.
 
I disagree on the starting T's positions SteelerSask, LT needs to be addressed with a DRAFT prospect that can start day 1. Banner can duke it out at RT and the rest are camp fodder or depth material. LT Doesn't have to be 1st round but sure needs to be early in the draft. Banner and Chuks came down to end of camp decision and unless Banner has totally blown up his skill set, he lacks in LT footwork / speed / in my opinion. If BANNER has gained ability during his recuperation period we will find out in camp but that is a BIG risk to wait till then. We need a book end at LT regardless of who is QB-ing.

Chile’s was not bad he has all the athleti traits you look in a lot just needs to play a bit more nasty, seriously if you want to draft Hudson is a clone of chokes size wise and 2 years more raw. So was cutting Vince what allowed this move

I have not looked closely at the crop and would not rule it out. That said a day one Starting left Tackle at 24.................... that is a big ask.
 
I just don’t think Banner has the agility and footwork to protect Ben’s blind side. RT would be his best position and should beat out Chuks again but for LT, I’m going after that in round one in the draft. And they better sign a Center. I’ll take my RB in round two where you will still find a good one. They got Lev Bell in round two.

Not so much with this class. You can get possibly a starter day 2. Just depends on that round 1 run. But I would actually be surprised if a capable one isn't sitting there at 24. Lot of solid talent there.

I didn't hear Tomlin say LEFT tackle, I was under the impression Tomlin just said tackle. If he is being named starting left tackle then BEN should have never been signed because it's going to take an escape artist at QB. If Banner is truly the LT then I hope and pray something magical happen durring rehab.

EDIT: I'll gladly eat my portion of "CROW" should Banner prove me wrong

I took this as meaning LT with Big AL leaving. At any rate, I'd love to see Radunz from NDSU drafted in 2nd round as a plug n play LT and Banner at RT. Draft the Wisconsin white water kid in the 3rd as a C. Boom Oline fixed!

So, reality is Coach T didn't even say TACKLE as all I read was answer. I hope Tomlin asks Banner, in all situation moves during the game what the answer is. (lol)


I know we need a step right in LT in the draft and I hope that happens.

Banner destroyed Chukes in the competition last year. If we had St Vincent, we all would have known it. He was fighting with TJ constantly. Why? Because they are both competitors. That and Banner has to diet to stay under 400 lbs...

I'm thinking he is a RT but would like your opinion on it. If he were to end up being LT and nails it then I'm happy to eat my portion of crow. I don't want him there unless he can truely play there and excell.
