Pittsburgh hotel and parking question

Just stayed in Cranberry on Saturday night. My son attended a Pitt football camp at the UPMC complex yesterday.

I made the mistake of trusting positive online reviews of the Red Roof Inn. 8/10 my ***...that place is a dump.

What were they charging?

There's a few I would avoid in Cranberry, Marriott North is probably the best in that area and not super expensive.

I think that is what my buddy mentioned.

It's not my money, but I'm not traveling to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game to stay in Cranberry. I'd pay more to be right in the action and stay closer to downtown or the stadiums.

When I stay downtown, I always use Hotwire or Priceline. Even if you use the option where you don’t know the hotel until you buy, all of the downtown hotels are of decent quality. Just make sure you choose the “Downtown” area only.

Jesus…I just looked at Hotwire for the night before the Ravens game. $309 for the cheapest on Hotwire. Ridiculous.

Yep, for a sporting event it's worth it to me. I've stayed on the outskirts (without choice due to sold out rooms) for big events and commuting in sucked as opposed to getting out and walking around.

I guess that's kinda my point. We stayed there too when we went way back when. It's 1100 usd for three nights now.

Have you tried VRBO or Airbnb? Probably spend a lot less.

Yes. Had a look. Close to stadium still super expensive. And not sure of all neighborhoods though you can usually tell from pictures of property.
