Pickens being traded to Dallas?

so now we have these 3rd round picks:

Our own
Dallas
Comp for Russ
Comp for Fields
Comp for the revolving door at LT
Comp for Najee

no way we fucck this up, right? right?

Right now they’re predicting 1 3rd, 1 4th, 1 5th, and 1 6th. Where are you reading 4 3’s?

Also, remember that a comp pick is at the end of the regular round, so a 3rd is really like an early 4th.

The absurdity of this trade, if it's for a 3rd round pick, displays a thick-headed, irrational decision.
I get the arrogance of Pickens and wanting to get something for him before he walks, but the hubris of this decision is disturbing.

Will they average even 15 points a game this fall?

At least none of us have a monetary investment in this meltdown.

assuming your logic holds, and it seems likely, why the hell wouldn't they have done this a month ago or two weeks ago to grab a replacement wr in draft?

They just let the WR2 get empty AFTER the draft, and after FA.

Maybe there was an event we don't know about, but it is abundantly clear that the Steelers WR room has been a mess for a very long time, since Shades put Hines in the doghouse and let the Young Money bs run wild.

Maybe Aiyuk is available too?

This resembles a long term shitshow more than a well-planned professional approach.
I heard DK say this morning that the best that teams were offering for Pickens was a 4th. The Steelers decided to move forward with Pickens rather than accept that. That changed when the Cowboys changed the terms to a 3rd. That explains why nothing before or during the draft.

DK also made the point that the WR room is better now than it was prior to the 2024 season. That seems like quite a stretch. His rational is that essentially the Steelers traded Pickens for DK Metcalf and that every team in the league would make that trade including the Cowboys. It is a good take, but IMO the WR room was better yesterday than today and prior to the 2024 season.

Next year the Steelers now have two 3rd round draft picks and projected to get one more in compensation for Dan Moore. With three third round draft picks and approximately 11- 12 picks in next years draft the Steelers have a lot of draft capital for the 2026 draft.

A draft that takes place in Pittsburgh. Maybe we need to have a Steeler Nation Draft Party reunion. The ones that I attended The Steelers selected two HOF players, Big Headed Troy and Big Ben.

Agree in general except for Claypool who was traded for a kings ransom

Goven what wrs were going for at that point, had tgey traded him a year earlier they would have gotten more... remember, Chicago wasnt expected to be that bad when they traded him... it was supposed to be at best a midling 2nd rounder... we just got lucky that they imploded and that second was that high...

U must now use 2-3 of the comp picks and get a legit 2 asap at least in rnd 5 or 6 should have drafted a wr now is the time with sf looking to rebuild and in a standstill with purdy contract get deebo maybe Aaron is waiting to try to sign in sf where he felt he should of been drafted
Woods and Aaron is coming after mini camp Lazard Cobb as side pieces are not enough and we don’t have anyone proven after dk to play on the outside unless you use muth a lot as a se

I'm fascinated. All we do is gripe and moan about the divas, then when they get rid of one, we gripe and moan about that.

It was necessary. I like Pickens talent, but I'm tired of all the crap that went with him.
I don't think anyone has a problem with him gone, it's the timing and compensation that are more of an issue.
Add to the equation, just who will line up opposite of DK now?

A very talented wide receiver who makes circus catches for us on a regular basis wants the ball to actually be thrown to him more than once or twice a game. That makes him a diva? If I were him I wouldn’t want to play for this team either, just maybe the solution was to find ways to get him the ball more instead of getting rid of him. I don’t know I’m not an expert.

When a guy won't even block for his RB he has to go. He would sit down next to guy during the game and they would get up and leave. He had to go. Just wish they drafted a WR or two. Maybe they have someone waiting in the wings, but I totally doubt it.

Even if we were gonna go full tank... you trade guys to maximize asset value

Prior to the start of minicamp but after the draft is the absolute worse time to trade unless a mitigating situation forces it...
Watt next?🤔🤪

There goes our unstoppable offense posters were talking about. Metcalf on one side. Pickens on the other. I am sure Tomlin and Omar have something figured and planned out. 🙄

You watch. These idiots will now trade for another WR, and he will be a diva as well. No one on here will be surprised if that happens. They need another WR to truly compete for the WR2 position or hope and pray Roman is that guy with Austin as WR3.

No, refusing to block and fighting with a player during a play (among other antics) makes him a diva.

Did people REALLY think they were going to pay him big $$$$? Took a lot of heat suggesting they trade him instead.

I guess this is as good as place as any for the apology line to start.

Who wants to go first?
Didn't think they were going to pay him, but without a QB there was some slim chance (10%).

I was hoping they'd let him play out his contract and let him walk.

The comp pick we'd get isn't really all that much worse than what we got given the $$$ involved with WRs. Probably a 3rd but 1 year later. Don't have to do the pick swap.

What I was hoping for from Pickens was a 3rd in the draft that just past or a 2nd in the next draft. I get that he's in the last year of his rookie deal (with an increase in his base this year because of the proven performance escalator) and that he'll be due a big money contract soon, but I think he was worth more on the team than the return we got.

We just went through a year where we got screwed because we only had one WR (the only explosive player on the team). And we're walking into this season doing the exact same thing.

Hopefully we get a really big bump in the running game. Despite still having to run into packed boxes because we have one good WRs and then a bunch of replacement level guys.

Maybe there's another shoe to drop here. But that's what I thought last year and I'm not waiting around for the rug pull again.

I think we have our own 3rd, Dallas' 3rd, and a 3rd from a comp.

The Blocking thing likely did him in. ASmith and Tomlin want a ball control offense... hell back when we were lighting it up with Haley and the Killer Bs, Haley has come out abd said Tomlin told him how many points he wanted and mostly wanted long sustained drives... they just want to win playing 1990's football... not 2025 stuff... eliminating the smaller slot wrs, whom are usually replaced by an extra TE on running downs... our outside guys we acquired the past two years are blocking wrs... Van Jefferson last year, DK metcalf this year... Robert Woods... these guys are all top echelon blocking wrs... the guys they jettisoned DJ and now Pickens.. these were better wrs than downfield blockers...

They just dont give a **** about passing... its just there to keep teams honest...

In his 11th NFL game he exploded on the sideline, so much so that Cam Heyward had to baby sit him. Late to meetings and games, loafing when he’s not the primary, lack of blocking…anyone who didn’t think he was a diva didn’t believe their lying eyes and ears, apparently.

Glad this turd was finally flushed.

Comps dont get finalized till after tge season... if Moore gets hurt week one, his value will probably tumble to a 4th or 5th

If he got outright cut and not resigned it would be nil..
True, and the same applies to Pickens.
