Franklin has done Jack **** with that offensive line, Hackenberg still has the worst throwing motion in all of college football, and the defense got slashed.

Not just the offensive line either. Hackenberg just stands there and takes sacks. No feel for the pressure at all.

Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!

That is all.

Leaving the game now. The shock on the faces of the Happy Valley crowd was just priceless. Sweet sweet victory. HOOT!

Terrible coaching. Just terrible. And Hackenberg would be on the bench, too. Bitching on the sideline after missing a wide open guy deep in the first half and that pick. I really don't care one way or the other, but I just get tired of watching some college football. It seems to be now more about fooling someone than just outrunning, hitting and blocking the other team.

I just hope Franklin hasn't ruined Hackenberg. I feel bad for the kid. A true freshman under O'brien and he looks like gold; Franklin's shop takes over and the kid is taking hit's non-stop. Unbelievable!

Personally, I think Hackenberg has all the physical tools but is mentally soft. The entire coaching staff needs to replaced as well. James Franklin is the Mike Tomlin of college football.

So, he has great shades, cliches, once coached in winning program, makes friends with the players and lets his QB get the hell kicked out of him?

This isn't a bug surprise. Temple has a good team and a very good defense. They returned a bunch of starters which always makes for a tough first game.

the design of the offense is terrible. They only threw 1 pass longer than 15 yards until the final drive. The OL is such garbage that you don't have to blitz. Temple got a sack on a play where they only rushed 2.

Sometimes Hack holds the ball a bit too long but that's mainly because nobody is open. When you only have to rush the front 4, it means you have 7 in coverage every play. Many of these plays, nobody is open so he holds the ball.

Feel bad for the defense. They did a great job but eventually got tired and gave up points after countless 3 and outs by the offense. They have good starters but not much depth and lost 2 LBs to injury in the game. That was when Temple started moving the ball.

They are starting a JUCO transfer at LT and he got abused in his first FBS game. Of course, a smart coach would have seen that and helped with a TE or a back, but not this offensive staff.

Not just beat - they got their ***** kicked. Their QB looked like Landry and their defense looked like the Steelers in preseason.

couldn't stop laughing

Too soon?

Too soon?

Never too soon to celebrate the Buckeyes!

Franklin sucks. I was pretty confident going into this season, but after yesterday's performance they'll be lucky to win 5. Franklin has ruined Hack. The kid should have transferred when he had a chance. What a friggn mess that team is now.

As a mild fan of PSU, I must say this was a kick in the shorts. They have not lost to Temple in 40+ years. The coaching was horrible. The OL a joke. And the defense was not very good either.

Franklin's place is coaching bad NCAA teams with middle of the pack objectives. PSU has been a good to great team for decades. He needs to go, but won't because he has too much money left on his contract.

I heard they hadn't lost to Temple since the beginning of WW 2. Almost 75 years ago.

Penn State has been a middle of the pack team with higher aspirations for at least a decade. They have not been GREAT for a long while. That said, the coaching was abysmal yesterday.

Yeah, well Bill Cosby has more victims than Jerry Sandusky, so there!

This is sad.

I have bought into Franklin up to this point but it breaks my heart to say I am questioning his game management skills. I am also questioning his decision to retain John Donovan as his offensive coordinator. I suspect, given Franklin's CEO-like approach to the team, his penchant for public appearances, and his insane recruiting ability, that he runs his team largely like the Steelers do - allowing the coordinators to run their sides of the ball.

It's hard for me to point the finger at Franklin entirely when I look at the defense and see guys flying all around, hitting hard, and shutting down Temple until they had to stay on the field the entire game and undoubtedly had their morale kicked in the teeth by the horrible offense. Bob Shoop is a far above average DC, so what I do not understand is how he can continue to allow John Donovan to ruin the offense, ruin Hackenberg (who is a vastly overrated QB but not nearly as bad as he has looked under the Franklin regime), and lose games for us over and over again.

This is not sustainable.

I don't know why people are surprised. Losing all those scholarships was going to take a toll, everybody should have known that. It was predicted that it would not happen immediately, but 3-4 years down the road. Well, here it is.

Now that is not to give Franklin a pass. Whatever he was doing yesterday sucked. Terrible. I don't think Hackenburg is all that much, either. I know the game plan sucked, but he has zero pocket awareness.

I don't know though - nobody can convince me we didn't have vastly more talent on the field than Temple yesterday, so I'm not buying the "sanctions/scholarships" argument. The defense was flying all over the place playing angry. They clearly were aggressive, had a plan, and made the best out of the talent on the field. The other side of the ball couldn't do any of those things. The offensive coaching should be ashamed of themselves

The offensive staff is trying to put in that damn pistol that every team in college football seems to do now. But that isn't Hackenburg's game. Who knows what it may be, but that ain't it. I don't know, but is PSU pretty young out there? That's what I mean as it pertains to sanctions. You are probably right with talent, but Temple had a very experienced team. I don't know the experience level of what was on the field for PSU. I think not as much talent but experience can sometimes beat more talent/less experience.

If karma is punishing kids and coaches and even administrators who had nothing to do with anything, then I guess you are right.

Yeah I'm failing to see the correlation there. Great way to sound like a jackass though

Yeah, karma that's it - by rewarding Bill Cosby's alma mater.

You aren't really comparing a single alumnus who did bad things in his post-college life with a group of university employees who systematically covered up someone raping kids on school property, are you?
