By Jessica Costello SteelerNation.com Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Justin Hunter, has been eyed and tried by the New England Patriots. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Patriots are working Hunter out, since the lack of wideouts is becoming noticeable. Hunter caught seven passes in 12 games with the Steelers the last two […]

I think Justin was (secret spy) cut just to get on the cheatriots roster. I do know that the STEELERS, mainly coach tomlin, has sent a discrete non-detectable transmitter with him. We should be receiving intel soon and will use it to our advantage. Also this year, Coach Tomlin has come up with lighter air to fill our footballs with. It will give better grip and we should fumble less. Also our kickers should be able to gain nearly 7 yards average due to less overall weight of the ball.

I got a feeling they're going to talk Gronk back into playing.

New England likes route runners with good hands. Hunter is anything but

Hunter is part of the Sith equation. “Always two they are” (Ernie and Belichick)

That's a dead wrong assessment of Hunter. He had excellent hands, body positioning, and route running. He just lost snaps in a numbers game, being the only WR who didn't play ST. He was either inactive, or starting if the other Z went down, which happened. Then Hunter got hurt. End of Playing Time.

Gronkowski got off steroids and looks like he hasn't pumped iron in a long while. He will get broken in half if he plays like that. He would need 3 to 6 months to bulk up again. **** Gronk.

He missed a lot of games out hurt as it was.

I don't know...he was mediocre in my book; but, that's a fair assessment, Cope...

I hear you Berm, worst part was he was a practice all-star, on the field it didn't transition as readily, but he didn't have a lot of opportunities. If anything, I'd say being injury prone is a more proper assessment of him.

So you're calling him Limas Sweed??? Nice!!! LOL

Fixed that for ya...

SORRY Berm but 81 was way closer by saying the 200 lb. thing. Gronk has lost a significant amount of weight. They (whomever they are) are saying he was at 270lbs play weight and near 210 nowA days.

Either way, there isn't a very good chance he ever comes out of retirement.

I thought he ate Pop...my bad...

You know, he may have had limited opportunities, but he had opportunities. A few catchable balls went through his hands. He catches those balls and well, things may have turned out differently

You have to seize the moment when given whatever opportunies that come your way.

Don't fumble it away

Which Hunter are you talking about? If you said Hunter Renfrow, I'd agree with you.

The X Steeler Justin Hunter did not run good routes, nor did he have good hands. If he had both, he'd be featured in the game more often.

If you want to discuss the Z position and how the Steelers treated it, I'm all ears. It also involved position flexibility, which Hunter had none. He was solely a Z, as was Coates, as was Bryant, as was Washington. None of them played ST, so the Steelers would only enter a game with 5 of 6 active receivers. Guess who'd sit? The backup Z.

This meant, if you were the backup Z, you were either inactive or starting. Healthy players in front of Hunter, and him getting injured when he got his chances, define his production.

Cope,

He didn’t run good routes or show good hands. He didn’t get open like Coates or Bryant could either. With little versatility to his game and being a back up, he was cut. It’s not like Hunter has X or Y skills. If he was good at either the coaches would have given him a chance in those roles.

He was picked up for virtually nothing for a reason and was cut with limited interest in the news.

Let's call it what it is...Hunter, Bryant, AND Coates, all underachieved for their own specific reasons. All different reasons, but I failed to live up to the hype of the BIG RECEIVER with speed Ben has always wanted...

Let's hope Moncrief stops this revolving door...

I sure you saw this when watching the games, right?
