Patriots' overtime coin-toss "mistake" stinks to high heaven

No one is saying "scared."

But would they lose a game if they thought it could improve/enhance their positioning? Sure.

I mean, it's the Patriots. I don't put anything past them.

Why not lose in regulation if you're going to lose? They actually had to score to send it to OT.

It's been talked about for weeks on here. Some were saying how nobody wanted to play us in the playoffs. If that isn't "scared" I don't know what to call it.

And again, how does it improve their playoff position to lose a game? It doesn't... that's just analysis being stupid. The only way they "improve" their playoff position is that people think they are afraid of the Steelers. It makes no sense any other way.

Because that makes to much sense. Why play your HOF all world QB in a game you are trying to lose? Oh I mean "not wanting to win"... which is exactly the same ******* thing.

Why would anybody be afraid of the Steelers? They are a fake team. Put together a good string, and then lose at the most important time. It's all bullshit. It's like shining up a car and making it look nice, but the engine underneath is ****.

And guess who the Steelers will be playing in the playoffs this year?

Yep, NOBODY.

I guess that punk-*** nobody team got its wish. Hoo-boy, watch this beat-down.

who gives a **** what they did or didnt do..they are going to the playoffs and we are sitting at home cause we could'nt beat a 4 win team with their 4th QB who had only been with the team for 12 days..

None of it would have mattered if the sorry *** steelers took care of business today.

Exactly. I guess the Steelers were also in on this Pat* plan by playing like absolute dogshit against the Rats.

Bellicheat put a quick bet down on who would kick to start overtime, or it's something weird... Def not trying to dodge us tho

Belicheck isn't dodging anyone. He's setting up his team for an easy playoff route. From a who's hot who's not playoff perspective

Who would be scared of this defense? Brady would've hung 500+ yards on the defense we trotted out today. Maybe he was scared that his arm would get tired?

Ryan ******* Mallet had a career day today, think about that for a minute...... now try again to convince me that the *pats were afraid to play us

And doesn't the team with the best record play the team with the worst record? So how does losing help you in the playoffs? By making you play a better team?

If Belichick intentionally lost to keep the Steelers, who's secondary he could slice and dice with ease, out of the playoffs and allow the Jets to get in who by the way consistently get into Brady's head and jam his receivers, then he's an idiot. And wait until week 17 to clinch home field? What if Brady misses the game because of a fluke like a serious illness?

100% agree this was done on purpose. They don't want to play us again. If they had watched us v the Rats, maybe they would want to play us again though. Bottom line, we had control of our own destiny and left it to another team.

Why in the **** would he be afraid of a team he always mauls. The Jets actually can beat them and have won in Foxboro in the playoffs.

They explained it on ESPN this morning as Slater was supposed to pick which way he wanted to defend but instead declared they wanted to kick. Which in turn let the Jets pick the direction they wanted to defend.

"

"coach told me we wanted to kick...I asked him like 3 or 4 times"

what Slater said last night.

just fwiw....which is nothing.

It's not the Steelers they were ducking. It's just the pure arrogance that they think they are smarter than everybody else...so don't question their motives..."you're not smart enough to understand".

I honestly don't care; all we had to do is beat a pathetic 4-win Ravens team, and their fourth QB of the year and couldn't do it. I just don't care if Pats threw their game or not; we shouldn't have allowed them to be in position to end our season, but we laid an egg....a dark, dirty, pathetic egg.

The pats**** did the same thing a few years back during a Denver game (2013 I think). So the idea that they never do that is just wrong.

With these arbitrary college OT rules, I can see the option to kick. In college you want the ball second in OT because what your opponent does first, will dictate how you play on your possession. If they fail, you play for a FG. If they get a FG, you play for a TD. In the NFL, they may have been playing to hold them to a FG, so they can come back and score to win.

Not the best strategy when the TD option kills the ability to get the ball back.

Belicheat's strategy is that if he kicks off the defense will get him the ball back in much better field position. He didn't think they'd score at all let alone a TD. His offense was struggling as well and he wanted to give them better field position to work with and only needing a FG. If he receives they need to score a TD.

I don't agree with it but I understand it.
