I have confidence in this kid.......after the miss yesterday he didn't allow it to bother him....it was great for him to kick his first game winner.

I do like how Tomlin is handling him too. When its in that questionable range (50+) we can go with our gut instincts and play the percentages obviously, but hes earning his pedigree and we can only be happy about that going forward.

I like how he responded too. Many young kickers would have their confidence shot after making two mistakes (missed FG and kickoff out of bounds), but he rebounded nicely. Kid's a keeper!

I like him a lot. Very accurate. Good leg, and hits money kicks.

Pleasant surprise. Never draft or trade for a kicker, just go with the buckshot technique...bring in 3 young big legs and keep the hot one

His worst game so far with the missed FG and KO out of bounds. But, he bounced back and kicked the game winner. If he continues similar to what he has done up until now, he may have a job come next season

let's keep it in perspective. i'm fat and old and i could've kicked that "game winner". at least wait until we see how he does in the snow. but yes, he does have promise.

Perspective you say? Well, yes, let's put it in perspective ... You say you could've kicked the 18 yd FG ... Fair enough. Boswell is 1-1 from 1-19 yds out. He's 2-2 from 20-29 yds out ... not bad. He's 4-4 from 30-39 yds ... pretty good. Even though he missed yesterday, he's 3-4 from 40-49 yds out ... Nice. And he's hit his only attempted FG of 50 or more yds. All together, he's 11-12 for 91.7% success rate. Impressive.

Now, for some perspective. Josh Scobee was a veteran kicker. He was 0-0 from 1-19 yds. 2-2 from 20-29 yds. 1-1 from 30-39 yds. 3-7 from 40-49 yards and 0-0 from 50 yards or more. Overall Scobee was 6-10 for a 60% success rate.

Boswell's longest make was from 51 yards. Scobee's was from 45.

Using Scobee's performance while with the Steelers to put Boswell's performance into perspective says to me that Boswell is having a pretty good year so far.
As you said though ... the change in weather will allow us to see more of what the kid is capable of. So far, I'm pretty happy with not having to cross my fingers and beg the football gods every time it looks like the kicker is coming out.

Yep...until he misses one. That last one he hit was gold. :)

The young man from RICE is doing a fine job so far. After what this football team has been through so far this season it was about time we caught a damn break with a kicker. I like him and wish him the best of success and many years as the Steeler kicker.

I'm not nervous when Boz lines up to kick, so I'm fine with him!

I think the last kicker I wasn't nervous about kicking was Gary Anderson

i was hoping he'd miss one (hopefully an inconsequential one). Just to get it out of the way. Remember when Gary Anderson missed his first kick of the season in the MIN-ATL NFC Championship game? No thanks.

Nice having a kicker like this kid. Been far too long in between for that feeling.

Now, for some perspective. Josh Scobee....

you think scobee is an accurate litmus for kicking success? poor argument. but again, boswell is getting the job done, so i'm cool with him. but tried and true? not yet.

Scobee is a good litmus test for the Steeler kicking game this year (It's really the only litmus test for a Boswell comparing him to his immediate predecessor.). Would you rather Scobee still be taking the kicks or is it better with Boswell?

I felt pretty confident with Norm Johnson, but I agree with your point. I like Bos a lot, and IMHO, I feel less nervous when he goes out there to kick than I did with Suisham.

boswell, is there any doubt? never argued otherwise. i'm just waiting until he faces more adversity before making an educated decision on his long-term worth.

Fair enough and until we have that information we can only form opinions on what we have seen and so far its all been good with Boswell.
