Other draft needs

I think he is signed through 2020 as he signed an extension. Unless I'm not remembering correctly from what Cope told us. We don't need a corner this year, maybe next year.
Coach is right, not sure how many years Bell has left due to his previous injuries and the unbelievable amount of touches are catching up on wear and tear. His wheels are about
to fall off and we should rather trade now while there is value but only if correct terms are reached.

Salute the nation

Correct, Haden is signed for 2 more years.

1 ) Its the Clowns. Hardly a rival.

2 ) I'll take Barkley and 12 million in cap space

3 ) How many good years does Bell have left?

So it comes down to this, Barkley and ANY one in free agency, or two very good players a 5 Million each, or Bell.

So if we sign Bell to a contract extension and then trade him to the Browns we would have to eat his BIG signing bonus he would demand. Never will happen. So how much extra money would we have in your scenerio? Barkley and $12 mill in space? Really?

Talking about the draft a week before their playoff game...hahahaha.... The whole point of the draft is getting to now and that last man standing confetti game.

Steelers most pressing need this offseason is at ILB. Either via Free Agency or Draft I wouldn't count on Ryan Shazier ever playing again....despite what his father seems to think.

They also need RB if Bell leaves in Free Agency, TE too. A good OL & DL in the draft is never a bad thing either!

Needs are going to be dependent on if Roethlisberger comes back, Bell is extended, and Shaziers health.

At this point I’m going to assume Ben comes back, Bell is signed and likely overpaid, and Shazier is out.

Personally, This is what I do. I offer Bell the same deal if he doesn’t accept I’d trade him to the Browns for their #4 overall and draft Barkley. But for for this I’ll pretend he is extended.

RD1- Roquon Smith ILB Georgia
Not Shay but he’s the best option at ILB this year. Fast, instinctive, good pass defender, tough on run support.

RD2- Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma
James and McDonald are serviceable but the Steelers are still looking for elite. Ben misses that safety valve of Miller and the teams plan on replacing Miller with Green backfired.

RD3- Jordan Whitehead S Pittsburgh
Whitehead is a dual threat playing offense and defense. He’s fast, instinctive, and good in run support.

RD4- Jaleel Scott WR New Mexico State
6-6 mismatch nightmare and red zone threat.

RD5- Martez Carter RB Grambling
Shifty back, great speed, hands and elusiveness.

RD6- Blace Brown CB Troy
Tall CB good production. Played big vs big competition.

RD7- Nic Shimonek QB Texas Tech
Has a live arm, good size, and upside. Good project or PS player.

Vance is our TE. He is on the payroll until 2021, and he is a talent with no negative aspect if we decide to cut him. Zero dead money. Great trade by Tombert.

He’s not elite. He’s not Miller. He’s serviceable. Andrews could be that game changer at TE that Ben has been missing.

I like Roquan Smith but he won't be there at 32.

Maybe, maybe not. It’s January and lots can happen. He’s also listed at 6-1 225lbs. If he’s 6-0 220lbs or runs a 4.6+ forty he’d drop to the second round or third.

I don't think Cleveland is that stupid. Why would they want an unsigned Bell who has had some issues over Barkley on a 5
year rookie contract. Even if they could sign Bell, which I don't think he would sign with them, they are 3 or 4 years away from
the possibility of being good and Bell will be nearing the end. If they want Barkley they likely have to use the #1 on him, I
don't see him getting by Indy at #3.

It's likely Steelers replace Mitchell with their #1 or #2 pick. Pick and play worked with Watt.

Asinine.

Bell has PROVED he can run in the NFL behind our OL. What has Barkley proved in the NFL???

That's it!!!

Nothing

In case you didn't notice Bell wasn't happy with his last contracts and took shots at the Steelers

In case you didn't notice, he wants 17 million a year.

In case you didn't notice Running backs do not last long in the NFL and Bell has a high amount of carries on him. Logic says he will wear down soon.

In case you didn't notice Bell is still an off the field risk.

Most people who scout for a living will tell you Barkley is an elite level talent.

Bell greatly benefits form our OL, Ben, and the receivers, yet his yards per rush are catch are pedestrian. Other players have replaced Bell in the past with near equal results.

So if you decide between Barkley and 12+ million in cap space ( You can get ANY free agent or two very good ones ) vs. Bell vs another franchise tag deal, to me is an easy call.
.

Better than Ezekiel Elliott? Evaluators around the NFL think so. The Penn State running back is emerging as a generational talent and is being viewed as a true franchise player as the league goes back to the future with power-running offenses

Since your on the 5th-grade level, I try to make it easy for you to read.

You have no clue about the shelf life's on NFL RB
, when to trade a player possibly disgruntled player who thinks he worth 17 million a year, or how to manage a salary cap.

For the first time in years we had cap space, and because of that, we were able to acquire Haden. A game changer.

I'll swap Bell for the best RB prospect in years, and 12 million in cap space. Maybe you should watch Barkley play before commenting. Barkley is an explosive runner and pass catcher, and far younger.

Why do the Browns trade for Bell? Bell is 25 going on 26. Should still be elite for 2 years and very good for 4 years. Browns have 0 marketable players. The Browns have $110,000,000 in cap space. They need to spend money so giving Bell 15+ million not a big deal. How many first round busts do the Browns have? Justin Gilbert, Johnny Football, Mingo, Trent Richardson, Weeden, Phil Taylor etc.... they trade for Bell they have a proven commodity.

Now could Barkley go top 3. Sure but my guess is Browns, Giants and Colts 2 of 3 go QB. Maybe all 3. Then you gotta remember Barkley though elite has to go against Chubb, Derwin James, Orlando Brown, Sutton all whom are elite as well. So even if Barkley is taken a Derwin James at Safety is still a need. We could still come back in the first round for a Ronald Jones or Damien Harris.

They better start thinking about the OL. If/when Ben does retire, that line better continue to be really good and stay that way. They don't want another patchwork line like the late 2000's.

Coach, all your points prove that Cleveland would be stupid to want Bell over Barkley.

Yes, Cleveland is stupid! Bell is Browns first pick and say Bell, they could have a new QB and Bell. Enough for the fans to get some hope. In in rounds two and three the Browns could go WR and OL.

My deal would be for the #four overall pick, if Barkley is on the board.

All the video game like trade scenario's, think to yourself out loud for a second, do the Steelers operate this way?

Be realistic and realize this team does very minor trades when it does make a trade. The Bettis trade was our last major trade, 20+ years ago.

Bettis wasn't even a major trade. He was not liked by the current coach and was not starting. That's why we stole him for a 4th rounder. Excellent scouting and recognizing a player that would excel in your system.

I doubt they are so stupid that they would trade away a high 1st round pick for a player with no long term contract in place who is also a suspension risk.

Coach you prove why you don't have a job in the NFL...

I'm pretty sure even a dunce like yourself could draft better than the Browns. Well maybe not, but I could.

A job in the NFL? I never applied. Why would I, my last name isn't Rooney, Haley, or Colbert and I would need over six-figure to re-locate.

Let's see if I can add some football content to your nonsense.

For those unaware ( you and you ) Kevin's son Dan Colbert's son Dan is one of the Steelers scouts. I hear the kid is a grinder.

Art's son Art Rooney IV didn't make it with the Steelers; he's at NFL films now as a Producer.
