After the Pittsburgh Steelers practice on Tuesday, there was a conversation between a rookie offensive lineman and the team’s head coach. That rookie was Dan Moore Jr. who has been putting in a lot of time and effort into trying to become one of the starting tackles for the Steelers. Moore had a conversation with head coach Mike Tomlin and in Moore’s words, he was not told whether he would be the team’s starting left tackle to start the regular season.

With that being said, this does not mean that Moore will not be the starter during the first week of the regular season, it’s just that that decision has not been made yet.

With the first game against the Buffalo Bills being on September 12, the final depth chart should be implemented relatively soon with each player knowing their roles more definitively.

In terms of how Moore feels about his conversation with Coach Tomlin, Moore seemed to be okay with the decision, patiently waiting for his opportunity.

“If coach feels that, then that’s what the call will be. I’m ready for whatever comes at me. I’ve been preparing every day, I’m ready.”

There is so many other position battles that are taking place right before the beginning of the season and some would argue that the offensive line is one of the more important ones after new pieces are arriving and old pieces are leaving.

What do you think the offensive line depth chart will look like through the very early weeks of the season? Comment below!

Good read Zach and thanks for putting it together.

I think it is time to NAME the starters and get them some consistant snaps with whom is going to be next to them. Experimenting & lollygagging time has passed it is time to incorperate a game plan and starting OL.

They seemed to take a lacking approach knowing the severity of need for the OL so NOW is the time to man up and go.

Dan Moore Jr. says he has been working hard for anything they throw at him and it shows. Who hasn't seen he is near best OT (LT) in the bunch. Yes we may see rookie growing pains but he won't be a disappointment.

The only thing i can think is: Way to go coach - such a confidence builder!

I (maybe Dan as well) just have to wonder WTF was that little talk supposed to accomplish?

I think the concept of knowing who the starters are is a convenience - yes, they need continuity but I think Coach Klemm has the fellas pointing in thr right direction...
The new OL Coach seems to have his head down, his guys performing and to going about things in a professional manner.....and keeping away from the microphone. Nice job, thus far.

Maybe durring pre season but that's over. They definately need concistant snaps next to whom they will be playing with. DEFINATELY Coach Klemm has done a great job to point and will continue but the need for snaps along side each other far outweights Tomlin's hesitancy of what he will gain by the secrecy of not knowing the starters.

Coach Tomlin, get your mind made up and get these guys snaps together instead of contributing to your usual slow start with team still trying to figure out how fellow teammate plays next to him.

Thank you
