Oregon vs Indiana

How many of those recruits are going to stay and develop? A lot of these guys are going to a different school every year.

That's why they need guardrails. Downs, Smith, Tate, and plenty others stayed this year. The guys leaving must feel they don't have a shot to play in 2026.

Most of theirs followed Cignetti from JMU. They'll have to cast a wider net and when other schools get involved, the talent pool will be diluted.

Cignetti himself said they can't keep doing it this much.
On the flip side, a national championship or even just making the game will significantly increase their recruiting ability

You would think, but they've been good now for two seasons and have the 33rd ranked class for next year. USC, Oregon, OSU top 5. IU ranks behind teams like Minnesota and Iowa. Players want to go to the NFL, not necessarily win chips. Outside of Mendoza they're not going to have a lot of high draft picks year over year.

Cig is smart, he found a loophole in the system and exploited it to its max. I'll be surprised if they're still doing this in five years.

More importantly, Indiana got another donation from Mark Cuban and rank 8th in the transfer portal.
