i really dont understand this whole thing. Other than a PR, CYA move by the NFL.

Why drag this issue up and basically sponsor a workout for Kaperdick, when the public has generally forgot about him and his Soc Justice horseshit.

Only thing i can figure is they want to give the semblance that they care and did everything they could so as not to avoid a law suit.

It also affords the Teams themselves the opportunity to show that they did due diligence and gave the guy a chance, by showing up at the workout.

I dont expect the steelers to sign him. But i do expect that colbert or someone will be there as a rep for the team. ESPECIALLY since we play tonight, Thursday, instead of this coming Sunday.

Highly unusual move by the NFL so I assume it is a requirement of the legal settlement between NFL and CK. There was nothing previous to the this that prevented teams from inviting him in for a private workout as he is a street Free Agent.

True. But this is a thing where a team can come in as a "look see" and not have him come to their city ,, there by riling up fans/ people. (i think.)

Talking heads said league provided a date, and then informed Kaperdick. Kaperdick requested a different date due to the quick date,, and that most teams are traveling on Saturday. He was denied.

Yep, I saw the request for a different date. I also saw they gave him a rather short notice to prep. This is exactly what big business does when fulfilling an obligation in which the business has little vested interest or benefit from completing. They put it out there with little regard for optimization of the event. They aren't getting fans riled up. They are checking boxes. The NFL likely prefers he would get on with his life's work and has no interest in making it easy for him or teams. If any team has significant interest, they will invite him to their own house for a workout and interview.

If he was truly interested in playing again he could have set up his own workout at any time. Probably before training camp would have been a good idea. He also could have swallowed pride an dplayed in the CFL easily and proven it on game film. There is little to no Black/ White Police issue in Canada. If you just love playing football, you have a ton of money, come play. And if your film is good enough there will always be an interested NFL team.

I am sure his agent tried to get interest in private workouts - team hosted and privately hosted and probably got zero interest. That would fuel his perspective of collusion. This is the only case that I am aware where the NFL hosted a private player workout as it is a function of the individual franchises. The NFL is providing ex coaches to run the drills, do interviews, and they are taping the event to make it available to all teams. This is just the NFL covering its obligations in whatever settlement was reached.

Sounds like this should have been on a Tuesday and not a Saturday on short notice. Not sure who's idea this was but if they want to get him on a team this isn't the way to do it.

Last I remember, he opted out of a contract in SF and was offered a deal by Denver but declined as he was seeking more money. And so he sits ever since

I know of an unemployed receiver he could throw to during the "workout"

I wouldn't put it past the attention ***** to contact Kaepernick and want "in" on the circus.

Look, I'm not a fan of the asshat but if you look at the Quarterback depth chart across the NFL there is no way that it isn't collusion. Kaepernick is a lousy Quarterback by NFL standards but so are half of the backups and tertiary players. He will end up on a team and ride the pine giving him a pulpit for his bullshit political views. I wouldn't put it past the Steelers to boot Lynch and bring him on board in the name of "equality".

he was going to be a Rat, then his girlfriend went off on a Twitter rant comparing Ray Lewis to an Uncle Tom and the Rats owner (Biscotti?) to a slave owner. Rats rescinded their offer.
So he goes to Seattle...and wants starter money to back up Russell Wilson.

yeah... he's done.

Who the **** would want to sign that gd circus. That **** will be 24/7. Guy hasn't even played in 3 years!

Maybe there is collusion maybe there isn't, but if I'm the owner of an NFL franchise there's no way I'm bringing in a second or third string has been to give him a stage for his political bullshit, not to mention the media circus and the possible fan backlash that would accompany it. Hoots theory IMO is closest to the truth. He won his settlement, went home, sat on his *** and nobody called then his name started fading out of the media spotlight and being the pathetic attention-grabbing ****** he and his miserable ***** of a girlfriend are they went back to their attorney and cried collusion again, setting the stage for this circus. I can't wait until he truly is gone and forgotten, he reminds me of a privileged, spoiled, little brat that cries, kicks and screams when he doesn't get his way.

I say it isnt collusion. I say its nobody wants that in their back yard. They dont want the baggage or the media circus, or backlash from the fans. If im Tombert, I'm Sticking with duck!

And i might agree about lynch.. But really i think the fans would riot.

Collusion would have to be the teams collectively agreeing not to do something. It is not Collusion if it is just common sense not bring him onboard and they all have the same opinion of him independently.

It has nothing to do with talent. If it was just a question of talent, he would be on a team right now considering the dearth of talent at the QB position in the NFL right now. Nobody wants the circus, the baggage, the nonsense. These days, it is hard enough to get everyone on your team pulling in the same direction without the stuff he brings. I imagine coaching in the NFL is a big enough headache. No sense adding to it.

He was regressing as a QB the last time he played for SF. Is he supposed to be better after a couple years of not playing?

Yes the point remains he was benched... i think the reason he isn’t on a squad is that teams don’t think he will accept the backup role graciously and will use the media to push to be named the starter wherever he lands... he is going to be a distraction from many angles...

I'll be clear - I think Colin deserves a shot, if he can complete the requirements.

There are many more 'wackos' that are US citizens who some of us have chosen to defend their rights regardless - he's just another number.

Far too long have we, as a people, taken offense to an individuals short-comings and never give that person a second chance to show the 'other side of the leaf'. I get it - it makes some uncomfortable; our athletes need to use the right platform to voice their opinions - the question is, "who's listening"?

Feel free to throw your tomatoes...

He got his shot and it came and went. Despite my general feelings for anyone who doesn't stand for the flag. (you are a piece of **** - go **** yourself)

I could care less if someone signed him or didn't.

Other associated players in his movement have jobs. he doesn't. After a year off most players decline. two years and so on? I could see why there isn't an interest.

I respect everyone's stance on the subject, but mine will not waver.

Lets be clear the NFL has its right to put its stakeholders and brand before serving the equal rights of an individual. Its a business and that's how they've operated historically. Jay-z partnership with the NFL played a role into creating this opportunity for Kap but its obvious that its begrudgingly. With that said "IF" Kap is an any resemblance to his super bowl appearance self he could start for a number of teams. Jets, Redskins, Giants, Jags, Lions (Stafford injury)... And would be more than qualified to be a backup.

He should get a fair shot and evaluation

Thinking that athletic ability is the only factor in hiring a player is naive'.

Bengals might go for him but that could endanger their #1 pick for Burrow, lol

Money driven league. World for that matter. Outcomes often reflect that. Regardless if we agree or don't.

I have plenty of opinions, and say none of them at work. I keep them to myself and still have a job.

Like it or not that is how the cookie crumbles.
