Why must Ben force 1-2 passes deep over the middle of the field into double coverage? We were lucky one of these passes were not intercepted yesterday.

If he had Bryant or the sure-handed Miller, okay. But he doesn't.

Question is what the hell is he seeing to process making that throw?

That's what I'd like to know. For some reason he's forcing it like a rookie, and it's not like Brown due to his stature or Coates is going to beat 2 on 1 often.

That pass into the EZ when all you need to do is run the ball and end the game.. THAT is maddening! I looked at my son and told him this is where Ben drives me nuts because this is the type of situation he'll take a chance.. and he DOES IT! GRRRRR!!!! WTF? Game is OVER! Taking time off the clock is more valuable than a score there. They got lucky there was a PI.

Agreed!!!

How many playoff wins does Ole Ben have over the past 5-years!!!!

That last throw that drew the PI. That is still on the coaches. Ben is not the coach of this team. He is the QB. You call 33 lead no audible. Sorry. Who runs this team?

Ben takes his shots deep to make sure the defense can't cheat coverage underneath. Even if those passes aren't caught it puts the safeties on alert that if they cheat he's chucking it deep.

Ben also passed the Steelers from their own 10 yard line to deep into Bungles territory to run out the clock, on the road, with a 4-point lead.

Ben when we're successful the coaches when we aren't. We're not sure what the call was or who made it are we?

Higher Percentage Plays

I didn't like the toss up to Hamilton when we had the 3rd and 3 near the endzone.
Seems like sending 5 out and letting Ben read who is the most open for a direct
throw is a much higher percentage play than zeroing in on 1 guy on a high risk pass.

Also not a fan of those long bombs on 3rd and short that ben tends to throw. Seems
like going for the first down and getting a new set of downs is a more likely way of scoring.

Under 2 mins with the lead trying to kill clock and to run a play fake and throw it down field is a coaching decision, not a Ben call.
He completed like 74% of his passes for almost 300 yards a td and another called back by a crap call, and 3 drops, damn, how many qb's completed all their passes yesterday? King Brady threw into double coverage twice last week, one ended up a pick, and did it a couple times yesterday day, I guess he needs to work on that?

Ben likes to throw deep even if it means trouble. It's kinda what makes him who he is.

The coaches can call any play, but it's up to Ben's judgment whether to throw it or not and whom to throw it to.

If Haley blindly called a bomb to be thrown regardless of coverage, he should be coaching for Cleveland.

That would be Arians who while here said that he calls deep passes regardless of coverage, so OC's do that. Yes Ben does throw into double coverage some, that's 100% true, but so does every QB, they all do it in every game.

The call is 33 lead. Even an incomplete little lone an INT. You could have preserved 35 seconds for them. Sorry that was just stupid and if they let Ben make that call it is still stupid. That is the call run the play.

Ben has always done this throughout his career. I'm gonna say it's just a habit that he will not refuse to break out of

Fact is, 2 penalties were ignored in the end-zone that should have given the Steelers the ball on the 1.

Later they got the ball at the 4. You can't blame Roethlisberger for doing what he does. He threw good balls. You want Coates to come out of his slump, you've got to throw him the ball and let him go get it. Course it's up to Sammy to actually go get the ******* ball. They need to dip the ******* thing in steak juice or something, I don't know.

Going deep when they did caught the Bengals off guard as everyone was expecting Bell, Brown has become more and more of a decoy as the weather has gotten colder and colder. I believe the team needs to continue to establish BOTH Brown and Bell as legitimate threats on any down. That will help them both as the defense can't afford to key on either of them. When Ben threw to Brown, they had him singled up. The Defense was full-on keyed for the run. A safety dropped the moment Brown took off, but clearly Antonio had position as Kirkpatrick, who had been holding like a ***** all day felt he had to grab Brown and slow him up.

In fact the coaches probably TOLD Ben,"Take advantage of that numb-nut corner if you get the chance, he's holding ever down."

Ben has been told over and over what to do. But also told over and over to be himself. He is being himself regardless of play called. This combination is what makes him as good as he is. Does he ever make mistakes......hell yes but does he ever have success......hell yes. We win more than we lose and there's a reason most here believe him to be. Future HOFer, with out the cheating.

Salute the nation

If you lose when you should lose that is one thing. The two point attempt, the interception in the end zone vs. The Bills going to James and throwing to AB at the end after the two minute warning. These were all mind numbing calls from the bench and Ben. If you lose doing something like that that isn't about living in your fears. That is living in your stupidity.

My big concern is why throw to Coates. Coates has not shown he is in the game and never, never, fights for the ball. Coates had his chance this year and has blown it.

I realize you are being sarcastic. And he is a HOF player no doubt. He just does some amazingly stupid things some times.

I'm opposite. I know they were force feeding him yesterday, but maybe just maybe teams will view him as a threat and keep some heat off of AB.

I don't think there's a whole lot of confidence in the receivers right now, which is why he's forcing some throws or why his accuracy is off. Without a guy to take some of the attention off AB, defenders are able to blanket him and you don't have any experience or pedigree at the No. 2 and 3 spots.

I agree with this. Ben is best when he knows he can throw the ball around and his guys are going to make a play, and I don't think he feels that right now. The bottom line is that the receivers need to play better. And that STARTS with AB. I know the narrative is that we need production from 2/3/4 and TEs to take the pressure off AB and of course that is true. But we are still at our best when AB and Bell are breaking the defense's back and forcing them to pick their poison. It's not good enough to have Brown be a decoy and make a few key first down catches throughout the game. He still needs to get open often, and deep, for our offense to be successful.

The first possession of every single game from here on out needs to feature calls early to both AB and Bell, even if it's just getting them the ball quickly in space. I want the defense to know they are getting a heavy dose of our best players, and that they will have to give our other guys some space if they don't want to get killed by the B's. Coates, Rogers, Hamilton, Ayers, Green, etc. will need the extra open space afforded to them by Bell and AB dominating in order to work into a rhythm with Ben. As long as those guys can just play respectably and catch the ball when it's thrown to them, our offense should theoretically be unstoppable. Even if Bell is getting stuffed on the ground like he was against Bmore last time, we should be able to hit them with misdirection, screens, draws, and passes to Bell out of the backfield. Given his versatility, there are many ways to utilize him against an overly aggressive rush defense. And that's the only way Baltimore can stop him - they just have to aggressively run blitz and try to play downhill against our offensive line and trap Bell in the backfield. But those guys will overpursue or overrun plays - that's when you hit them with the aforementioned misdirection and what not. Again, given Bell's versatility, the threat of Brown downfield, and the open receiver(s) that should result in attention paid to those 2 (and Green over the middle), like I said, there is absolutely no reason why Baltimore (or anyone) should be able to stop our defense from scoring points. The only way that can happen is penalties, injuries, or Ben trying to do too much. That's it.
