The defensive line coach of the steelers provided a great deal of insight regarding the development of college players in his comments. One of the things he mentioned in his comments regarding players and their lack of technique is due to the time college coaches have with these kids many times three years, they only focus on what the kid can do when he arrives and do not spend time to develop them further to a great degree.
This would explain to me some of the comments about why a kid is raw or not polished in his game. It makes a great deal of sense when you think about it and realize the advanced skill set of the nfl player is not being taught at the college level.
