One Down: Pouncey

Wasn't pouncey hiking high last year too. For a pro bowl center that's inexcusable.

There is no move yet. Reading comprehension not your strong suit.

Ben was crying when the two were talking and Pouncey HAS NOT said he's playing in 2021. Try adding 2+2 for a change. Dale has pulled back a bit on the reporting, but like I said I don't see Pouncey saying I'm playing in 2021. If he was, I'd expect to hear that. Did I miss that link?

We need the cap space. Pouncey's play has declined and he was awful in the last game if you were paying attention. NO WAY is Ben worth 41 million next year. 25M, okay play one more year. Otherwise have your day with the press and retire.

This teams needs a reload. You might be with me on Tomlin at this point. Congrats. I say replace him now, or let him play out his contact next year. A losing season is upon us. I'll take a better head coach, and the higher draft pick in 2022.

I suspect the ankle surgeries and leg surgeries have caught up to him. these things often have long lasting effects.

Even when healthy the Big DT/NT's owned him. He has been having deep snapping issues for years. Not quite as bad a this year. Ben had to field way too many of his snaps. I also haven't seen him pull much at all and that used to be part of his best stuff. IMO, an over rated and over paid player for years. When he was out in his prime, a guy off the street came in and I dint see much if any drop off in play.

my point was the lingering effects of past injuries would have a an impact to his decision to retire or not. I said nothing about his performance or what the team might do.

Whatever was said on the bench is after game emotions. Sure it might all come to pass, but who knows what right now. As far as Tomlin goes it does not matter what you or I or Joe blow wants...it is what Rooney wants, unfortunately that probably won"t be what most of us want. It is what it is.

Lots of people like to hike high. Snapping high is a different story and yes he has snapped it high off and on for awhile. I would say from my personal experience at the position he was trying to get off the ball too fast compensating for him getting older and he lost focus and was too tense before the snap. The shotgun snap for me was bit like shooting in that you to be calm and focused or it had a habit of going all over the place. I much preferred the traditional under the center exchange. I was lucky to have the experience of being taught at my HS by a special visit from the PSU O-Line coach my freshman an sophomore year at a "camp" we did. Snapping the ball correctly is an art and is different with each QB.

Pouncey and DeCastro have a combined cap hit of 30 million this upcoming season, hard to see paying them that.

I think we keep DD and lose Pouncey. DD was banged up, healthy he is worth it. Put Dotson at the left guard for a year paired with DD then move him over when DD retires.

His snaps the past couple of seasons had gotten shaky, like he’s trying to position himself to block before he snaps the ball. He’s has been the same domineering center he has been. He was one of the 4 Steeler great centers.

It definitely wasn't for clicks because it's buried in the article and the headline has nothing to do with Pouncey.

I see Lolley is backpedaling, but he was very definitive in the words he wrote in the article despite no quotes from Pouncey. If it isn't true, it was an irresponsible line from Lolley.

They tried to back peddle so fast on this. He didn't state that it was his opinion, he stated it like it he knew something and said Pouncey was done. I'm not a fan of Dale. He's not very friendly to this web site even though our relationship with DK..

$12M of that has already been paid.

Savings for cutting Pouncey $8M

Not worth it to cut DD. $5M savings and a gaping hole at RG.

Trust me the Steelers will use a high pick on a center. They rate centers higher than anyone else on the OL.

I don't know if anyone saw Ramon Foster's article, but he texted Pouncey the day after the game and Pouncey said he was 50-50 on retiring. It seems like once that starts to creep in your mind it may be time to retire.

Yep, when you start mentioning it, you are already on your way out the door.

Yeah, and considering his cap hit is like 15 million, possible he's "asked" to retire.
