They literally did everything they did last offseason -- and likely this one -- merely to meet their new, lowered standard, no doubt to quiet the media and fanbase.

"Not just the receiver room, we weren't good enough. We didn't win a playoff game. We didn't reach our goal so every position group needs looked at and if it's not good enough we have to be better in all those groups."

I get going all in on a season or two with an aging roster, but JFC, you do that in order to compete for a Super Bowl, not just to wash the stink of an ignominious streak off of the franchise.

Also, you'll notice in this article about the draft, Omar largely talks about contracts and cap space. He's not involved in personnel any more than I am.

I think he might have a slight edge over you in involvement of personnel

We are only looking at a 7 to 10 win team. Depends on who is qb. But we ain't no playoff team.

The new Standard. It's really sad. By the time they have their next franchise QB, all of these recent signings will have to replaced yet again. They're doing everything in their power to maintain a 10-win ceiling, which only pushes them farther away from getting that QB.

Interesting article. We are in the bog of not having a franchise QB, like too many teams. We are nothing special.

I threw in two cents because it was all I had. The rest was used paying $4.69 per gallon.

That comment highlights my biggest critique regarding Khan. What exactly is his vision while building the roster?

Yea. And because of that many have lost interest in the team. There used to be many more conversation specialists here. Some don't post anymore. Others might chime in during the season. But overall the interest level in this team has diminished greatly.

They went from Bradshaw to Ben without a franchise qb. Had some rough years in there.
But had some great ones also

It's sad they've changed their standard to just getting to the playoffs and winning a game. I understand you need to put one foot in front of the other, but the Pittsburgh Steelers standard is to WIN THE SB, period! That is the standard every year.

Steps. ..
1. win games
2. make playoffs
3. win playff game
4. superbowl.

2024/25 seahawks won a playoff game.
2025/26 seahawks won superbowl.

theres a progression to things..

Steelers have been on step 2 for 9 seasons.

Due to revenue sharing, partially or fully guaranteed salaries and absurd profits, the modern NFL is not as competitive as it once was. The penalties for losing have been significantly diminished and winning isn’t as incentivized as it once was. This effect permeates every level of an organization. In the last forty years, only one NFL team has operated in the red. Clarification, in recent history, in one fiscal year, only one team has operated in a state of loss.

Regarding the quotation: Meh, I’m a small goal guy. Small goals lead to big goals. If you don’t follow the right process, think critically, you get lost in the big picture. Sometimes, it’s a multi-year endeavor. Think about it like playing a game of poker, your stack and cards matter in relation to the other players at the table and the pot. Every year is a hand. Going all in every hand isn’t a good idea. If you don’t handle it strategically, you can end up in a worse scenario before the cards are dealt for the next hand.
