Olympic hockey

I was 9 in 1980 when USA won gold. Listened to the game on an old *** hi-fi in my bedroom. I’ll never forget that. Sunday I’ll be watching on a big screen in 4K in front of a roaring fire drinking Bloody Marys. 46 years ago to the day. I love Sid but this seems like destiny to me. USA!

I was a junior in high school. It was ana amazing night. Dad, my two brothers, and I were in the living room watching on the old black and white TV. It was one of the only times I remember all four of us cheering together. Dad, usually subdued and stoic, was yelling, reacting, etc. Then the count down and win. It was amazing.

One of my all time favorite memories of family.

USA! USA! USA!

February of 1980, I was 18 and a freshman in college. For me in California, the game began the middle of the day and I was still in class. Got home in time to see a news alert, telling me the US had taken a 4-3 lead. Game not broadcast live for some reason.

The game was on a Friday so a bunch of us gathered at a party that night, enjoyed the game as we imbibed.
