But after seeing what the Bears gave up for him, and how much cap space he'll take up, I'm glad the Steelers didn't make the move. He's an outstanding OLB, but it would've really hamstrung us. Smart non-move by Tombert and Co.

While we're at it, gotta give big props to whoever was involved in fleecing the third rounder from the Raiders for Martavis. Absolute stoke of genius!!

The big thing, and Sean McVay admitted it in LA with Donald, is they can do it cause of no big QB salary.

A good point. If you have a QB on his first 5 year contract, and he's elite, you can afford to pay a top player or two max money. In this case Donald is worth it.

Case in point SEA. During their runs. All young bucks on original contracts and no real big money out to multiple players. As they started to pay them the core of the team was gutted and they are a shell of themselves.

Once the rams pay their QB the team will lose some of this high dollar talent.

We are in dire need of someone like that. Our defense doesn't scare anybody. I think it would have been worth it.

Don’t ever confuse Jared Goff as elite. Yes, he’s on his rookie deal but that’s where it ends.

So it comes down to your starter at QB still being on his rookie deal, period.

I'm not sure if he would have taken less for a chance to win a championship, but you can bet we were not giving up a first let alone 2 for a single player. Steelers don't do that anymore and haven't since Noll took over.

Bell is a 2 firsts type player as well (for the right team). It would have been an even trade. Though now, I would take 2 firsts for Bell in a HEARTBEAT!

Quite honestly if anyone wanted to give 1 1st rounder i would hope they jump on it

I'm certain that any team in the NFL, including the Steelers, would give up a first round pick to get a top five player in a position of need in their prime. That's the whole point of a first round pick, to try and find one of those guys. I knew it would take a lot more than that.

Hey Cope, how's Walley World?

Goff was elite last year and if he plays like last year will be in consideration for league mvp

you and what boatload of money?

hahahahaha, it;s not about any draft picks!

$141 million six-year deal with $90M guaranteed .....for a DL!

never happen in a million years!

hahahahahaha

I wouldn’t go that far. He had one nice season and threw for 3800 yards and something like 27 or 28 TD’s. Very nice numbers but he has to do more on a consistent basis to be considered elite.
Guys like RGIII, Dak Prescott, had nice rookie campaigns but it was far too early to say elite.
We shall see!

Mack looked liked he was born to play in the black n gold as is Donald for sure... I don’t think price too high bears have three best qbs in division mack one of best qb hunters in football. Imagine in our defense with him right in the middle between watt Dupree iron head 2 and tuitt. Me personally I would prefer a defense first, a good defense is a good offense, ball busting running game, good servicible qb. this primadonna qb, crappy bend down break, “look at me I’m a mad genius” laboob style defense just ain’t western PA football. Well see... if we don’t get to sb I think it’s time for house cleaning no doubt....

While Mack would be a dream come true, where were the Steelers getting the ridiculous amount of money for his contract? It isn't even about draft picks, it's about money that the Steelers aren't even close to having.

Who didn't want him here? The situation wasn't right.
