Official Prediction thread Steelers vs Chefs

Not going to make a pick .. EVERY time I did last season, we lost. Last week was my first time making one this season .... Sooooooooo (and yes, I know it sounds like some superstitious b.s. but ...)

I'm beginning to think Haley's play calling combined with no going 4 wide, seldom is ever allowing Ben to no-huddle when the game is close, and not using an FB, and barely if ever using play action as made us easier to prepare for.

Andy Reid is a very good coach and Kanas City over achieves with the talent he has on offense. Smith does not make many mistakes at QB. RB Ware can run and catch, and they have a decent TE in Kelce.

Defensively Kansas City has 8 interceptions, and Peters, in particular, is dangerous to challenge. So winning the turnover battle here is against the odds for us.

Our defense is has a completely flaccid pass rush, and the DB's are very young and inexperienced with tackling issues.

But we are at home with a lot to prove and tend to play our best in these circumstances. And we've got Ben.

I'm calling a loss at home. I did not like the execution or pride vs the Eagles at all and I think opposing coordinators are figuring out how to beat us on both sides of the ball.

I hope I'm wrong, 3-1 is so much better than 2-2 with back to back losses.

Our saving grace is Ben, Cam, AB and the Steelers have too much pride to let the stench from last week linger. The Chiefs will be very tough to beat, but we will somehow inch ahead in a narrow victory.

Not gonna lose two in a row, right God?

Visiting Chefs - 20
Rejuvenated Stillers - 33

We do have Bell coming back, as long as he doesn't get pulled over on his way to the game again.

Men of Steel - 27
That other Indian team that isn't from Washington - 16

Our pitiful pass rush is again exposed, DeCastro is again destroyed by the great Chief ST and Ben throws 2 costly picks/

Alex Smith rarely goes downfield. The Steelers have been playing almost like a prevent most of the time. It seems this strategy works on the assumption that the steeler offense will put up enough points that the opposing offense will try to keep pace and make mistakes trying to go deep.

With Bell back, the offense won't just be AB or nothing like vs the Eagles. I see the steelers scoring some points. Alex Smith rarely throws deep. The Steelers defensive strategy will probably be more aggressive since they are less concerned about getting beat deep.

Last week was a reality check ...

Was it a "wake the hell up" kind of reality check?
Or was it a "oh crap were not as good as we thought we were" kind of reality check?

Its either going to be one or the other boys and girls..

"Wake up" game - Steelers - 27 Chiefs 16

"Oh Crap" game - Chiefs - 24 Steelers - 13

Can I make two predictions?

well of course is one or the other. go with your gut, choose one

I think this game and every game going forward will depend on whether or not the Defense can get pressure on the QB. They failed miserably last week and were absolutely shredded by a rookie making his 3rd NFL start. Do that again, and Alex Smith will probably get similar results. Wentz isn't great(yet), but the Steelers defense made the guy look like Tom Brady and Joe Montana's love child. Smith is more than capable of doing the same thing to the defense if there isn't any pressure.

Add to that that our offensive line has been shaky at best the last 2 weeks and I think things are going to get worse before they get better, even with Bell back. Until the Steelers prove they can can get some pressure on the QB, be average at run blocking and give Ben some time to throw the ball, I believe they are going to struggle.
