Here are guys I am hoping McCarthy brings in
1. Joe Brady. He may or may not be out in Buffalo. Just send him dahn 90 to 79south and he’s home.
2. Antwaan Randle El. We know what kind of player he was. He’s been with Ben Johnson for quite a while. If there is anyone that knows the flow of a game and gets it, this guy.
3. Brian Dabol. He may or may not get a head coaching job. He is a damn good coordinator and would pair well with Howard if he is the guy
4. Frank Cignetti Jr. I loved his play calling at Indiana. Can he do it at the pro level.
5. Kliff Kingsbury. I think this guy can also get the best out of Will Howard if he is the guy

Interesting list here.

1. Joe Brady makes some sense.
2. Randle El is assistant head coach and WR coach, I think he has that first title to possible prevent a move to another team. Not quite sure how this one would work.
3. Hasn't Daboll been pretty bad over the course of his career? From 2019-2021 he had the Bills ranked in the top 10 in yards and points. In 9 other seasons as OC/HC, Daboll's offenses have ranked in the top 15 in either yards or points just once.
4. Cignetti would give big Matt Canada vibes with that jump from D2 to the pros.
5. We'd never pay Kingsbury, I'd be cool with this move.

I'd still take a swing for the fences and lure Nate Scheelhaase over as OC... as him to this list!!!

I asked A I to give me a list then I asked it to give me two it thought was the most productive. So we know they won’t bring in either. But it is as follows:

Offensive Coordinator Pick — Jordan Traylor (Vikings, QB/Assistant OC)

Why him:

  • Vikings offense has been quietly elite in efficiency metrics — top 10 in EPA/play and explosive plays.
  • Traylor has been instrumental in scheming around their QB, making the passing game look more dynamic than expected.
  • He’s not already an OC, so he’s a legitimate next-step candidate.
  • He combines modern concepts (RPOs, play-action) with adaptability to a roster that isn’t fully stacked — exactly the kind of OC Pittsburgh could use to inject creativity.

Upside for Steelers: Could turn a mid-tier offense into one that stretches defenses and maximizes WR + QB production.

Defensive Coordinator Pick — Karl Scott (Seahawks, DBs/Passing Game Coach)

Why him:

  • Seahawks’ secondary this season has been a top-tier unit in pass breakups, coverage efficiency, and limiting explosive passes.
  • Scott has developed young DBs into NFL starters, showing strong teaching + schematic ability.
  • Already interviewed for DC positions elsewhere — league sees him as future coordinator-ready.
  • Fits a Steelers-style defensive culture: physical, smart, adaptable, capable of aggressive schemes with multiple looks.

Upside for Steelers: Could transform the secondary and pass-rush schemes, making the defense more unpredictable while keeping fundamentals strong.

💡 Takeaway:

If I had to put my personal “highest impact next-step hires” hat on:

  • OC: Jordan Traylor → creativity, QB maximization, modern passing concepts
  • DC: Karl Scott → proven secondary performance, ready to scale to coordinator, fits Steelers culture

These two feel like the best combination of performance track record + realistic next-step promotion without already being an OC/DC elsewhere.

Bring in Steelhaas! And then in 3 years force Mccarthy to retire and promote Steelhaas to HC.
This was my first thought when I read it is McCarthy. Lure Steelhaas as OC then give him the inside track in a few years to become HC. Maybe this was in the cards.

Lot of good options which we will see absolutely none of them.

I can’t set myself up for any great expectations for Art to shell out cash and be competitive to lure top coaching talent to this staff.

I fully expect a Ken Dorsey type of candidate as the next OC…Art probably already allocated 80-90% of his staff budget to get an experienced HC

The man really isn’t a good owner.

Why would he move laterally from a championship team to a cluster **** organization with Scrooge McDuck as the owner? What does he say to himself, "I can interview for a head coaching job making 8-10 million per year, or go to the Steelers with no established QB, under a fat **** who calls his own plays which limits my ability to grow as a coordinator, and make 2-3 million a year less than what I make now on a championship contending organization."

Take off the rose colored glasses, guys. Do you know why we got McCarthy? Because both Rams coordinators told Rooney to pound sand. The Steelers aren't the Steelers any longer under Art the big deuce. I've said this over and over, and I'll continue to say it, the Steelers that we know and loved died when Mr. Dan Rooney passed away. The only hope that I have is that Dan Jr follows in his Grandad's footsteps and focuses more on football than profits.

Art has had stability at HC for almost 2 decades

Dude breaks up and gets out of long term relationship and goes on a couple dates before he gets married again and doesn’t even call up a couple of palette cleansing hot chicks before settling down with an old hometown girlfriend from HS.

What a dipshit.

Art Can’t even be patient enough to interview a couple up and comers having success under bright HCs that are employing modern day NFL concepts….winning concepts good enough to still be playing in late January

Can Dan take over already and get the dipshit out from behind the wheel?

"3 head coaches in 50+ years" has become as meaningful as "never had a losing season."

Who cares? Start competing for championships again.

No they really didn’t. Those two Rooney interviews were just that they had no intention of hiring either.

Omar and Andy and Mike all hung out in Detroit way back when. This is a Mike and Canada buddy buddy situation. Nothing more. They masked the process when there really was predetermined.

I'll tell you why Art went with McCarthy! Art is a unintelligent football owner who only cares about optics, money, and basic winning(from his perspective only). Art could not possibly interview up and coming coaching minds, because he would not be able to understand the concepts they are talking about! How can we expect him to make the best decision when he can't understand what they will do and how they will do it! With McCarthy, he will trust his experience without all the new shiny terms and concepts being thrown around.

McCarthy 100% came prepped for this interview telling ARII exactly what he wanted to hear.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I like this hire, it signals a break from stodgy tradition and a willingness to try something new. Guessing he doesn't coach more than 5 years here, his primary job IMO is to identify and develop the next franchise QB.

I would take IUs OC now, Mike Shanahan. He is young and seems to adapt when things aren't working. They had trouble with Miamis DBs so they went to back shoulder throws for example. My first choice would be nathan scheelhaase, but I think McCarthy will be the Defacto OC anyways

You know he fibbed in his interview with Dallas right?

They wanted Mike anyways that interview mattered not.

Those that care about those stats are those that are not Steelers fans.
But who cares. LOL

Art 2: “what makes you a stand out candidate for our new HC job”

MM: “ I have a brand new Steelers winter beanie I can wear year round”

Art2: “you’re hired”

Salute the nation
