Odell Beckham,Jr

NFL refs have a bad habit of not blowing the whistle, thereby letting a play linger, when it's clear the runner or receiver's forward progress has stopped.

That's what happened on this play. When the Bronco came in and blasted Brown - when it was clear Brown was wrapped up and not moving forfward - I said to Mrs. Ghost, "That's a late hit! Except since the whistle hadn't blown, by rule it wasn't a late hit.

That isn't to excuse Wallace. But it's another example of how God-awful NFL officiating is.

What happened in the Panthers-Giants game with Norman and Beckham is yet another example. If the refs had been on the ball, they would have nipped it in the bud before it got out of hand. You warn each head coach, and if it continues you start tossing players. It isn't rocket science.

I heard it on the radio today and was going to post but you beat me to it. Apparently a Twitterverse battle leading up to the game this week also.

In addition, I saw video of a PS player (not even in uniform) wielding the bat out on the field talking **** towards the G players, sideline. WTF? Not sure I can even condone the use of the bat as a prop, at least anywhere other than in the locker room but WTF is a damn PS dude in civvies carrying it out on to the field and talking ****? THAT is something the NFL should be looking at, imo.
Not defending obj.....he was a complete ***. But as I said earlier Norman and the Panthers aren't blameless.

Re: the bat excuse......

There is no way that Beckum Jr felt in immediate danger... no one was going to come out during a game with a bat in front of 60,000+ people and hit him.... At best he felt his manhood challenged and was trying to prove a point or get vengeance... neither of those are even slightly an excuse... I don't care if they said that he was a ****** and they were going to kill him during the game... his actions deserved a suspension... probably for the rest of the year, though I didn't think the league would even suspend him for a game...

Actions are always worse than words... despite whatever PC crap you hear these days

The Steelers last two or three games have been very chippy. AB has been at the Centre of some of it. They need to be on notice. If we have learned anything about the Goodell NFL it's that it is reactionary. The refs are now under the microscope for this **** and you will get thrown out. These last two are crucial. No **** for brains mistakes. Play hard to the whistle, walk away after.

Here's my thoughts on Wallace's hit. I'm not a fan of the guy, and I feel he's the weak link on the line, however, I wasn't upset at the late hit. It's like playing a game of hockey, your team is down, and they take a shot at your star player. Bang the enforcer makes a big hit and starts a fight. It lets the other team know you're not going to roll over and take their ****. It also means you will protect your star players. Broncos didn't try that **** the rest of the game and we came back the whole way. Wallace's hit set a tone for the offense, that they weren't going to roll over, and damn if they didnt!

Is it possible Cody Wallace earns a suspension if this happens again? How many fines has he received this season already? Thought after a certain amount of fines for the same infraction a player was suspended.

I liked Wallace stepping up for his teammate as well, though, would have liked to see something other than a late hit because of the penalty. It was DeCastro last week when it looked like he was raking the eyes of a Bengal's defender (Burfict?) under the pile. Not ideal, but when the other team is taking shots at your teammates, you don't want to see them sit there and take it. The Steelers linemen have always been excellent at this and will never back down if someone takes a bad shot at Ben.
