October 25th Steelers will be in Paris

There are a many obscure thought experiments regarding WWII history. One is if America never entered the European theater or Pearl Harbor never occurred, could Russia have won the war? Basically, was America’s formal entrance the tipping point for the Allied powers? Myself, I’ve always said Russia could not have won the war without active U.S. involvement, but, I’ve heard some people take the counterpoint in the argument. Without going off on an unnecessary tangent, you should get my comment.

Thank you for reminding me of my Russian woman fetish, I nearly forgot. I’ve always preferred robotic, hearty women who look like Boris Yeltsin.
I think the tipping point was US full war determination, participation and supply of Russia. But the war basically ended on the Eastern front where both sides lost millions of soldiers. 3.5-4.5 German soldiers or roughly 80 percent of their casualties. Plus prisoners.

That’s kind of what I was getting at. The scenario most people don’t account for is what would Japan and Italy have done if the U.S. war effort didn’t extend beyond lend-lease and similar efforts. The U.S. kept Japan and Italy occupied. If Japan would’ve pumped the brakes on their imperial ambitions, I don’t know how the Russians and British would fare against the Axis’ combined efforts in this hypothetical scenario.

They would have been done and world would be very different now. Shocking and lucky the Nazis didn't tell the Japanese to pump the brakes till after they finished Russia and UK.

Looks like you might be taking transit for 6 months. Ford,Dodge,Toyota, etc all American cars companies huge advertising on NFL. No fast food for you…..no pizza. No on- line gambling,Apple products……throw out that iPhone, pad. Airlines, major insurance carriers….,little blue pills,God forbid the Steelers advertise upcoming games on their schedule. This game has somehow gotten more appealing for me. My fellow football fan is about to change his lifestyle.

I remember when, not too long ago fans on here were boycotting the NFL if they played Lift every voice and Sing before the games.
How’d that work for you?

“Europe doesn’t want American football there”
Huh. They sell out in minutes. One game adds 75 million to local economy…..conservative estimate. . The revenue to the NFL is huge. TV and advertising is huge. And of course the driving force. On- line gambling.

The NFL is a multi billion dollar industry, and just like any other business they are reaching for other opportunities .
Europe has no interest in it... it didnt in the early 90's.. it didnt with the heavily subsidized world league... it doesnt with the currently flailing EFL... The NFL gets Novelty spikes in attention , mostly from Fans here, when they do this.. but when they tried to establish one team in an area, like they tried with Jacksonville, intrest fades over time...

As for the anthem thing.. thats just politics... who cares what stupid pandering they do pre game... this is affecting my weekend schedule.. the slew of weird non sunday games were bad enough, now getting up at some super early hour on Sundays? Its a pain in the ***..
I just think they will add the 18th game and everyone plays one international game per season.

What NFL player will want to move to a Mexico franchise ? That's preposterous as Kramer lawyer would say
They really pushed Mexico city till the crime thing got real bad... now they really want that goofy euro division.., no other sport does that, and for good reason..

There would be no free agents that would want to sign with the European teams.

I’m not hinting at the issues that would arise in the profession itself. Just relocating to another country is a culture shock. You’ve got issues with logistics, language, culture, healthcare, different laws, etc. Heck, European taxes are generally higher, good luck selling that. It seems like a big one. The list is extensive and that’s before you get into the issues regarding professional athletics. If international is the plan, there’s really only one logical move. Again, the best differing course of action for most parties would be to take the existing schedule, make the seventeenth game international and add a bye week. Just like the old schedule, season ticket holders and fans get their eight home games. It’s as favorable to all parties as possible and can be revised if it doesn’t elicit the desired result.
