Below is an article from Steelers Depot laying out 6 candidates. Personally I think the name to maybe Lee an eye out on is Caldwell. I also think another name that not mentioned would be Anthony Caldwell.

I'm open to a lot of ideas at OC.

I like the idea of having former head coaches on the roster. The Steelers were at their best when they had Tomlin, Haley, and Munchak on the staff. There's a lot of value in having multiple coaches with head coach experience.

Kromer is an interesting name just because he's working under an offensive guru. Anyone under McVay, Reid, or Shanahan is worth a look because they know how to run an effective offense for today's NFL. You want to see a coach in here who is going to elevate the talent and get the most out of their players. I'll go as far to say the Steelers had the worst offensive coaching staff in the entire league last season. They didn't utilized their receivers to fit their skill sets. JuJu averaged under 10 yards per reception, Claypool was on the bench in favor of McCloud and Washington, they completely eliminated their own run game, and allowed defenses to easily attack. The short passing game allowed defenders to sit back and wait for the short passes. They didn't even need to rush the QB because they knew the ball was coming out fast. The Steelers have talent. They have good building blocks for the running game. DeCastro is a former All Pro, Dotson was a highly rated run blocking guard (ironically that was his weak point with the Steelers, hmmm...). Obviously you have enough talent outside at receiver and they'll probably keep Ebron for another year and can sign a blocking tight end for a lower cost. This team was putting up nearly 30 points per game early in the season. You get get an intelligent offensive mind into the coaches' room and I think we'll see some dramatic improvements relatively quickly.

I looked over that select list and Kromer is the guy that sticks out...some weird baggage there though.

My guess is Canada gets promoted and I'm fine with that.

If the guy w/ the child abuse issue can get past our screening - he'd be my frontrunner...
I cannot understand how the team is any better, quickly, by bringing in baggage. That may not be fair re: second chances, but the new OC is going to be under a microscope for a long time...

Im just really surprised that the talking heads didn’t link retreads like Whiz or Gailey here... Usually thats tgeir first move lol

As a fan of Wake Forest sports- that is a big negatory on Caldwell. BIG.

I could understand bringing either of those guys back, matched with Ben, for a SB run......kinda like we thought 3 years ago when Haley took his wife up to the Factory of Sadness.

Hope some other options come up besides what's being talked about so far. If not, Canada would be my choice.

And if your OC candidate is best know for blowing the Super Bowl by passing into the End Zone for an interception on a 2nd and goal from the one with 26 seconds left and one time out and Beast Mode as your RB.......scratch that name off your list and fire the guy who put his name on it.

We have enough heartache already

If we hire any of those jackasses you might as well have kept randy ***! We need a big personality that can impose his vision of football on Ben. We’ve been hiring foot massagers for Ben we need someone thats going get a running game going that can carry the team so 1) we don’t have to depend on Ben to carry us 2) that can prepare us for the day Ben walks. We don’t need a coach that complete pisses Ben off but a guy to build a running offense that complements Ben. The holy grail is a coach that can do for Ben what mike shanahan did for elway his last 2 years at Denver. Build a nasty *** running game around a dude like Terrell Davis that can stand on its own putting Ben in a complimentary position rather than a carry the whole fuking Franchise and city on his back! We have more than enough talent to Super Bowl defense with tweaking is good we need some Youngbloods in the O line but it’s not bad and have a future HOFer in claypool. Bring in OC and line coach like we did in munch that can get running game turned around in a jiffy Ben will do rest! Go Steelers!!!

Speaking of Russ, there is another QB who struggled late in the season that no one is talking about.

just confirmed Canada promoted to OC now need another fresh mind for qb coach

I don't mind Canada and I think he can bring a creative approach. I'm just not sure how it's going to work unless Roethlisberger plays under center. If he doesn't, Canada won't be able to fully implement his offense.

I don’t know about this... I think it’s going to look like a lateral move. Canada jumps from job to job, I think he’s overrated in his creativity. All the motion stuff goes so far. Can he scheme up mismatches and get guys open? I don’t think he’s too great at that and if he was, I’d have to think he’d be retained by teams and promoted. I’m not a big fan of this move.

You're correct although we don't need to worry about this anymore...
