Shawn Oakman, ex-Baylor DE, arrested by police in Waco, Texas

Former Baylor All-America defensive end Shawn Oakman, the school's all-time sack leader and a potential mid-round choice in this month's NFL draft, was arrested by police in Waco, Texas, on Wednesday on a charge of sexual assault.

Police said Oakman, 23, was served with a search warrant for his DNA and for his cellphone.

"Immediately after the execution of those search warrants, Mr. Oakman was served with a warrant of arrest for a charge of Sexual Assault," Waco police said in a statement on Facebook. "He was taken into custody and transported to the county jail without incident."

Oakman was being held in McLennan County jail Wednesday night, records showed.

Oakman was accused of sexual assault stemming from an April 3 incident.

Baylor, required by federal law to immediately address allegations of sexual violence involving students, did not examine a sexual assault report made against two football players for two years.

The woman, a Baylor graduate student, told police that Oakman "forcibly removed" her clothes, forced her onto his bed and then sexually assaulted her, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by ESPN.

According to the affidavit, the woman had a sexual assault examination performed at a medical center.

The warrant said Oakman, who graduated from Baylor in December, admitted having consensual sex with the woman.

The woman told police that she met Oakman at a Waco nightclub April 3, and then returned to his duplex with him late that night. The woman told police that she left his duplex after she was sexually assaulted, but left her underwear and an earring there.

Police searched Oakman's duplex, according to the affidavit, and collected two comforters, a fitted sheet and a flat sheet from his bedroom.

Oakman had 128 tackles and 17½ sacks in three years at Baylor. He started his college career at Penn State but was dismissed in 2012 for allegedly stealing a sandwich and then grabbing the female store clerk's wrist.

His arrest Wednesday is the latest in a string of sexual assault allegations against Baylor football players. In August, defensive end Sam Ukwuachu was convicted of sexually assaulting a Baylor female athlete in October 2013 and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation. Baylor reached a settlement with Ukwuachu's victim in December after she filed a Title IX lawsuit against the school.

In 2014, former Baylor defensive end Tevin Elliott was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting two female students in 2012. Two other women testified at his trial that he sexually assaulted them, too. Last month, one of Elliott's victims filed a federal lawsuit against Baylor for not protecting her Title IX rights.

except for the raiders, bungles and ratbirds....they will probably take him early

and Crackboys. their "D" was decimated.

Oakman is from Philly. He started at Penn State and was kicked off the team for stealing. He tried to steal a hoagie and when the clerk caught him, he assaulted the clerk to get away.

That incident alone could have been explained away as immaturity. This current incident could have possibly been seen as he said she said like Jameis Winston. But put them together and it's a pattern that will cause lots of teams to take him off the board.

Seriously, does ANY good news EVER come out of Waco, TX?

Avoid that city people...

Knew that was coming. The allegation was already out there.

I know this is a sad story and all, but I laughed hard as hell at this. Who in the hell tries to steal a hoagie, of all things?!?!

Did he go into a Wawa/Sheetz and just leave without paying?!?

If I recall, it was at one of the on campus stores where you can pay cash or swipe your ID. He gave his ID to pay for like a pack of gum or something and had the hoagie in his bag. The clerk called him out and was keeping his ID to call the cops when Oakman shoved him down and snatched back the ID.

Not the sharpest tool. How do you expect to get away after you handed the clerk your photo ID?. As if being a 6 ft 7 black guy in State College PA would not have narrowed the suspect pool enough.

As for Sheets, I don't know how they don't get robbed blind every day. You order on the machine, then you can pay your ticket, and they just hand you a bag of food and you walk out. The person handing you the bag has no idea if you paid. The clerk at the register is busy with other customers and likely isn't paying attention to whomever is leaving with food. It's chaos.
