Now we know how the team feels about Markus Wheaton

Does anyone think AB not being happy about his contract had anything to do with it? If he holds out next year the Steelers might be in a better place to hold firm if Bryant, Wheaton, and Coates all are doing well.

We are never going to have 2 highly-paid WRs on the team. That means guys like Wheaton and Bryant will walk (or we re-sign one of them to a big deal and let Antonio walk) if they reach their potential. We've got to keep finding these stud WRs year after year if we want Ben to have weapons for the remainder of his career.

One other thing they could be doing is planning for turnover due to retirement, trade, injury, or if guys get to expensive to keep. If the only thing needed is to keep the pantry stocked with a new player every year or so they are doing well. Somebody said this guy might be another type like Bryant which would not be a bad thing. Having two guys that are deep threats will definitely allow more options in the pass and the run game.

Between the tight end position and Bell the Steelers may never need to put more than 4 wides on the field to really hurt other teams defensive alignments. With guys that are fast and can get open quick they may finally have real threats in the quick passing game...pass thrown in under 4 seconds. Most pass rushers take more than that to get to Ben.
