I'm hearing that the Pats handed the Steelers their ***** from the outside media because the Steelers scored late to lose by 7. WTF do these people watch. I'm not an if ands and buts were candies and nuts person. I don't add up all the lost points and say they should have won. THEY DIDN'T. But by the same token they were not handed their ***. They competed better than I thought. They simply cannot win in Foxborough. They should have had 7 before half instead of three. The ridiculous play calling around the goal line should have been 7 instead of three. The field goal kicker should have made one of the two missed at least. That doesn't add up to a win. And maybe this team could never win in a playoff in New England. But they can beat teams that match up well with the Pats.

The Steelers had the advantage in all stats except the most important, scoring.
A little more preparation and organization on defense, and even moderately coherent play calling on offense, and we'd have walked out of there with a win. Unfortunately, their coaches play chess, while ours play checkers.

No it was an *** kicking. They doubled us up until the garbage time TD. The Steelers played poor defense and didn't punch the ball in on offense, they got the *** kicking they deserved.
I think the Pats**** were their typical average early season selves. The Steelers were in the game, despite a horrible defensive performance. If Scobee makes those two FGs and Heyward-Bey doesn't step out of bounds for no reason, that's 10 points right there. And don't tell me the Pats**** would've played differently. At least on offense, they are always trying to score. They don't "let up". They played a little differently on D, I suppose, on that last drive. Statistically, the Steelers competed. If they can get even a little better on defense as the year goes on (play Boykin!) and the big offensive guys stay healthy and away from weed, they might be a decent team.
Besides not having an answer for Gronk, missing two FGs and the defense not able to get off the field in the second half, it wasn't as bad as it looked in reality. The garbage TD is not guaranteed if the game was closer because they sacrificed time for a meaningless score. But, yea, it was just a slight spanking.
It was between not good enough and horrible.
But I firmly place the blame on coaching.

* The inability to identify a SS problem in the offseason and sitting on their hands with it doing nothing.

The Steelers earned the loss, but I agree that it wasn't a complete domination by the Patriots. We left a lot of points on the table with a number of mistakes. Let's not pretend that New England's defense was any good either.

All good points. I really didn't watch closely enough to pay attention, but how much of the new defensive system did they implement? This reminds me of when they tried to use the ZBS on the OL and spent all offseason working on it only to dump it during the year. I also hated how they used so many guys on defense. There is a reason the starters are the starters and the backups are the backups. Let your talent rise to the top and play them.

If the Brady had hit those 2 WIDE OPEN WR, If they don't go to a prevent defense, if the Steelers had better coaches blah blah blah. The fact is that everybody on this board has used the "garbage football score" to say that another team was really beaten worse than the score looked by the Steelers. It was a garbage TD against a prevent defense. It was 28-14 with 9 minutes to go in the game. Then it was 28-14 with 3 seconds to go in the game. The Steelers don't score until 2 seconds are left. Reverse the teams and everyone one here would count it as a good win with the score made to look like the game was closer than it really was.
Really hard to see what they implemented as there was so much confusion, but yeah they played a lot of different people, and few and far between seemed prepared.
Keep in mind also New England was without what three corners from last year and three O-lineman and still were prepared to play.
It is early but Butler needs to do better moving forward.
Or the Steelers will be a explosive O just missing the playoffs, or being one and done again.

Considering the Cheaters interfered with the Steelers radio signals, even 28-14 isn't too bad of a showing considering we couldn't communicate play calls to our players on the field.

Did we deserve to lose? Yes
Were the Pats the better looking team? Sure.
But were some of you expecting that we were going to go to Foxboro and blow the Pats out? Losing to 7 or 14pts on opening night against the champs, at Foxboro is getting spanked?
We played the defending champs on opening night (where the defending champs have like a .900 winning %), with Brady looking for vindication, with a new defense and coordinator.
Yet we still led in most categories (except for the score of course). Take away some self inflicted mistakes and this game is much different. I wouldnt call that a spanking.

I wasn't talking about the score. That last TD was pointless, I don't understand why they worked so hard for it, the game was over by then. But that doesn't change the fact that the Steelers were on the move all game long, even when it was 28-14 with 9 min left they were still within reach of winning based on how they were able to move the ball. If only they could've found a way to finish drives.
But a blown coverage here, and a bad play call there, coupled with the missed FGs.... They definitely earned the loss, more so than having been taken to the wood shed, which is how their games against NE usually go.

I don't think the pats**** are that good. Their defense isn't that good. I think the Steelers could have won but gaining yards isn't the way to do it. You have to score point. The offense didn't do that so they lost. I don't think they were in the game after the last pats***** TD. The Steelers had scored 1 Td up to that point. The other 8 points came from a 2 pt. conversion and 2 FGs. So thinking they were going to score 2 Tds in less than 9 minutes isn't realistic.
There are always "if they had done this or that" in every game. But it works for both teams. If Brady hits those two wide open WRs then it's a blow out. It's always easy to do that. I thought the game would be high scoring. But it didn't work out that way.

I have said this before, but the Pats only needed to score 28 points. They pretty much shut it down. If we had scored 40 I bet the Pats would have scored 50. Bottom line is our "30 point per game" offense scored 14. You can blame miscues, poor play calling etc etc, but they still scored 14 points against what people say is a bad defense. The defense was like Keystone cops out there, missing tackles and blowing coverages. We did not totally get blown out, but I would consider it at least a light spanking.
any way we look at it, we are 0-1 and need to get better. The Niners are up next. I'll go with the 24-hour rule and look forward. While they played better than I expected, the D didn't disappoint in being Gronk's *****. 28-14 or 28-21, a loss is a loss.

It really is comical to me to watch people attempt to use the Stats to say that colossal goat **** of a game that the Steelers played was not an *** whipping. Yeah buddy they really moved the ball between the 20s. Couldn't punch it into the end zone or kick field goals though. And hey they had a time of possession stat locked up. But it really didn't take New England that long to score on our defense what with leaving Gronkoski completely uncovered and all.

Or take away the radio cheating........................... OUR Efense would have been better and the O would have been slightly better too!!!! Maybe not enough to win the game, but definately enough to make it a no "garbage time" game.

I see a few debating the degree of a loss. I seen teams fold against the Pats and come back and whip their ***.
The game fell short on everyones expectations. But it was just that one game.
Now the coaches can focus in on taped weaknesses (seeing how they couldn't figure it out in the offseason).
And tweak as they go.
I do think when Bell and Bryant is back in the lineup, they will be better at finishing drives.
And then maybe they have a clue who they should play on D....more or less.

Once again stats don't win ball games maybe fantasy football games. We left points on the field but N had their way on our defense just look at the plays after the half, I don't think one play was less than ten yards. What Tomlin and the coaches do at half I still don't get. We did not get blown out but it counts as a lose.
Funny thing to me is that only coaching is being blamed for this loss.
1. The PLAYERS had all off season and training camp to get in the defensive playbook and LEARN THE ******* PLAYS/CALLS. Apparently, as evidenced by the chinese fire drill we saw several times, they didn't do that well enough.
2. Scobee missed two FGs. What were the coaches supposed to do, run out on the field with surveyor's equipment and line the ball up perfectly for him?
3. DHB fails to make sure his feet are in bounds on a TD pass. Seems like a mental mistake by a player ... Should the coaches have had to remind him of something we all are taught from biddy league on up?
4. Our starting and reserve DBs failed to record even a single defensed pass.
Seems to me that at some point, no matter how much the coaches prepare them, no matter what the game plan, PLAYERS have to actually perform/execute. Ours didn't and the Cheats' did.
