No Sweeping Changes per Tomlin

Trade deadline is long passed. Obviously NO ONE on the team can reliably catch the ball, so who are you going to replace them with?
I'd play McDonald more and Ebron less, and Snell more than Connor, but that's all I got.

Confluence, your statement "I would imagine some panic in the FO and owners suite has led to an open exchange of helpful ideas..." is part of the problem. The truth is it is only in your imagination - there is no panic in the FO; there is the sure knowledge that they can put a mediocre product on the field and people will come anyway. I don't think Dan Rooney would have allowed this mediocrity to go this far but the retention of Tomlin after these December melt-downs should tell you all you need to know.

Tomlin is assured of another non-losing season. Mission accomplished for the New Age Steelers organization. Their hood ornament remains as shiny as ever.

Just give everyone a bye for two weeks and go in rested
Not like they can play worse on offense
Maybe a little time off is what’s needed.

let ben call his own plays

Why does this idiotic idea keep coming up. I’m going to quote Arthur Moats - someone who’s actually played on an NFL defense. He says that an offense has an advantage when you run no huddle for short spurts. You basically exploit the personnel that a defense has on the field, but the you’re calling from a limited subset of plays that are part of a particular package.

If you tried to do that long term, the advantage swings to the defense, because you have limited your playbook, and they can predict/capitalize on that.

The idea that Ben can pay attention to everything else going on in the field AND analyze the defense and make the proper calls is ludicrous. Defenses are far too complex for that. So you have multi-tasking Ben matching wits with a defensive coordinator whose only job is to analyze what the offense is doing and make adjustments. Who do you think is going to win that battle?

This idea is almost as crazy as thinking you can totally retool your offense in the final two weeks of the season.

It's one of the reasons I'd love to see Fichtner up in the booth. You can see so much more from up in regards to what the defense is doing.

I would sit Ben for the last 2 games.

11-5 with Ben playing hurt is much worse going into the playoffs, than 11-5 with Ben getting 2weeks to heal up.

They are in the playoffs, does it really matter what seed they get?

What do you expect from Tomlin. He’s the same end of the season loser he’s been for the last decade. Yet , posters want to talk about how great he is during the beginning and middle of the year.

Clown has won 3 playoff games the last ten years.

Would he be able to scramble those same six plays better up there ????

Salute the nation

What sweeping changes would you make at the end of a season? The concept/thought of making sweeping changes right now is pretty much idiotic. What sucks now is that our vets won't get any rest in the last game of the season.
Exactly...

Tomlin et al have gone 0-4 to start last year, then 8-4 to close last season, then 11-0 to begin this year before the current 0-3 slide.

Much of the reason for the 19-4 middle run (0-7 in rest) was the vast improvement on D post Minkah trade....the pieces all fit together.

The real issues in losses last year and this year are all on O, with Ben directly responsible for 2 of the losses in the combined 0-7 period. Regardless of Ben, or receiver drops, we all see the lack of a run game, poor OL play, and a lack of creative play calling to fix the Run/OL problems as fundamental to any further success this season.

The Steelers are 11-3, can win the division and do some damage in the playoffs, but only if the O can contribute 20 points per game. I would imagine some panic in the FO and owners suite has led to an open exchange of helpful ideas, including a "WTF, we know we cannot win without Ben; lets put it all on Ben's broad shoulders for a few more games, because he is the key to any success" pressure on coaches.

Ben certainly **** the bed in the first half last game, and he actually looked fearful. The Steelers need to give him confidence, every confidence, so that he can lead the O. Maybe it works, maybe not. But it is the only reasonable way forward with an 11-3 record and fast closing window with a HoF QB.

The Steelers did very well with Ben's sandlot playcalling. Why not emphasize this by helping an up-tempo, no huddle approach that plays to Ben's strengths, rather than whatever that abomination of a gameplan was Monday nite?

Lets go Steelers!

The reason for the late in the year collapse is because Tomlin and Company implement changes in the OFFSEASON. By the time the end of the season rolls around, the other teams have made adjustments to neutralize what the Steelers are TRYING to do. When the Brain Trust does not have the ability to make adjustments during the game or season, they lose.

I respectfully disagree.

This offense has been mid-pack all year. JC's production has been up and down. The OL has been patchy, at best, and Ben is not seeing wide open receivers (when they're not dropping balls).

I kinda dreamed about the offensive play when Ben threw for the league high, 2 years back; it's time to dust off some of those plays and bring some of the school yard football back. I also think we need to dress Dobbs each week and their throw in some wrinkle plays he can use his legs on. Every successful team, on offense, has some sort of threat with a mobile QB.

Not sure what we'll see today but I'm praying it'll be better than we've seen the last 3 games.

Can't go get Guinness until 11am so there's that...
