So, new here and here is my first thread. So we have a lot of angry, disappointed and other emotion going on. In a non sarcastic/facetious way, what would YOU do different right now? This question is not loaded and comes with no assumptions. Mostly interested in seeing ideas about where we go from here. Even with my emotional rage about firing coaches and this that and the other thing I understand that isn't going to happen. So, realistically, what changes would *you* make now that might help the Steelers? No, nuking the entire coaching staff or opposing teams are not legit answers even if we want that. How do *you* fix this year (I understand fix doesn't mean win a SB, just whatever you think is realistic and helps us now).

:)

no sarcasm? is that even possible here?

gotta agree with thesteelcity the play calling has been terrible let Ben run it and see if he is the major issue or if the game plan just stinks

FB,RB ,TE, Wide receivers better learn how to block well if they want to start.

I'd 100% commit to running the ball. That's a mindset they need to reestablish. **** all of this 3 yard passing ****.

The Steelers need to get their balls back.

Your passing game will open up again.

To be fair, it is the internet so you aren't wrong. But I don't intend to call anyone out. Just legit want to see what people think about what would help NOW that is realistic. Ni right or wrong answers, just like to see thoughts.

Honestly, I start Rudolph and I play defense with people crowding the line of scrimmage. Specifically I'd have Fitzpatrick in the screen of the TV a hell of a lot more. As bad as Ben and the offense the style of defense they play is only slightly less putrid.

For one Dan Moore needs to be BENCHED! He's our worst O-linemen and it's not even close and he's protecting Ben's blind side. He can't pass block at all and his run blocking is not good either. Next week vs Denver Von Miller has got to be drooling.....Dan Moore will not be able to handle Von Miller. I'm all for firing the OC and letting Ben call his own plays. It can't be any worse! The Defense needs to find a way to plug up the middle of that defense as teams are just gashing us in the running game. I'm not sure what is wrong with Stephon Tuitt or if he's just a BIG GIANT ***** but it's time to man up Stephon and put your BIG BOY pants on. We all lose family members.....life goes on! These Millennial ******* are ruining the game of football! For christ sake Brett Favre played the day his father died and played the game of his life!

What would I do?....sign Tebow

I think Ben doesn't trust the offensive line and that he's got the yips. He knows they're incompetent and he doesn't trust them or himself to make a play. Given the fact that there probably isn't a guy on the offense that would start on another team, they may as well play Rudolph and save Roethlisberger the concussions and destroyed knees. Maybe next year they'll start believing that a football team needs an offensive line.

So Tuitt isn't injured? I thought he was on IR. In any case, I'd start Rudolph. Ben simply cannot make the throws anymore. If Rudolph or Haskins can't do better then we can all three QBs next year and start with rookies and free agents. We can be 4-13 without them.

Honestly the coaching is horrendous. Whoever is calling the plays needs relieved of duty.

Commit to running. I form, 2 Tes, whatever, just stick with it for more than a play. The shotgun 2yrd passes is not working for various reasons.

Washington needs to be on the field more. Id say split Washington and claypool 50/50.

We used a 2nd round pick on a TE we barely use. Throw the ball to the TEs.....

Make Ben practice all week. Timing / accuracy is off. Could be due to happy feet, getting old physically, or just simply lack of reps. Instead of ben saying he needs to be better, how about trying to get better and practice

A lot more Derek Watt. Every time he does come in, everyone knows what's gonna happen. Have him in more and make some plays a surprise. Let Hass and/or Finney play some more center. Green ain't getting it done...don't want to bench him forever or completely discourage him,, but see what shakes out and maybe light a fire under his ***. Let Ben call his own plays and let him know it will be the hurry up. Use Muth more..he has good hands and is a big target. More ray ray..
He seems to be motivated more than others right now. Kick Claypool in the ***..
He plays soft and needs to catch the damn ball. Tell Cam, Haden and TJ you expect them to have a come to Jesus meeting with the defense, and the offense as well. Explain to the O that they need to sustain some drives so the D can get some breaks...if people get their feelings hurt, so be it. Something needs to be done. If this team gets to 5 games under .500, bench Ben and trot MR out there - at that point the season is over anyways- see what Mason can or can't do. That's all for now.

If you're ruling out firing coaching staff because it isn't going to happen, this thread is probably redundant, because anything else suggested probably isn't going to happen either unless there is a change in coaching staff.

Given the team is 1-3, the best the team can be after five games is 2-3, so your scenario is already a done deal. By the way given 17 game season and 7 playoff teams I don't think the season in over if they are below .500 at 5 games. In fact it's not over until the Steelers have lost 9 games (or it becomes mathematically impossible to reach the playoffs).

I'm not doing anything. The team as it currently stands is our best chance to get a franchise QB in the draft and that is necessary moving forward.

I would start the vets on the Oline. I would can Canada. I would can Klemm. I would bring in some NFL coaching experience as replacements to intern. I would have Ben run the up tempo offense with a short leash. If no improvement in three games I bench him. I move Sutton back inside. I look for a CB/G/T to bring in with starting experience. I try out a plethora of players at each position.

Can we add some volunteer practice time and see who shows up. I know these are grown men and that is somehow probably against union rules. But if any team looks totally out of sync it would be the 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers.

I am doing everything to Tom Brady bring in AR. My draft would focus in on rebuilding the trenches.

Anything would be better than the nothing burger they are doing right now as an approach.

The O looked like it had more potential last night than we've seen so far but the execution was still off. Maybe Canada stays another game or two but there were more than a few head-scratchers in that game but I think they go to Tomlin. I mean we need three scores, it's in the 4th quarter, he's going to go for it and then decides to punt, living in his fears. He has basically given up in games for the 3rd time now this season. ******* go for it. You're losing! WTF difference does it make if you don't try to come back? Go for it on 4th and 4 or 4th and 9.

I think I'd give Ben the keys to the offense to try to make chicken salad out of chicken poop. If it hurts Canada's feelings, oh well, they need a spark from their leader. They have little to no cohesion.

Welcome, btw.
100%

We are going to lose 15 games the way the offense is going. This is Roethlisberger’s last ride so win or lose let him play his backyard style football (which we should have the last 6-7 years) and take us as far as he can. Worst case scenario we lose every game and get a top 3 draft pick. Best case scenario we get an offensive spark and sneak into the playoffs.

If it was up to me.... the first thing I would do is fire Tomlin. Seems like a good place to start. Then as most are saying I would let Ben have a stab at running the offense.

I think you can sort of shore up the OL by putting JC Hassenauer at C and move Green to RG. Green is clearly not ready to start at C in the NFL. Playing guard gives him a chance to hear the calls, and gain a lot of experience to use at C next year. Start there and see if you can get some semblance of run blocking and pass protection.

There are a lot of good suggestions on this thread, and it goes to show how knowledgeable the people of this board are.

my offering is that this offense has no "wrinkles" week to week. a wildcat formation or something that teams didn't see on film. Third and short on a ciritical down and Haskins comes into the game, the opposing head coach burns a timeout and you pull Haskins off the field and just smile at the other sideline.

I guess I'm expecting a chess match from a man who plays Operation...I'm guessing that's why Tomlin looks surprised all of the time.
