no matter how you spin it

If when you say a few key players away on defense you mean at least 8....then yeah. I agree. And this offense is to up and down from one week to another to call great.

I'm still high on the defense needing a NT if they are going to stick with Butler/3-4 for the long haul
A good safety is next priority
Hate to say it as a UGA guy but the team needs to can Jarvis and look at another OLB

Not exactly championships from the get go but as a coach set a tone, implement a philosphy, be aware of the clock, and rally up the troops when the team is down. Don't be buddy buddy with a player or four and expect them to cater to you come game day. If you have an elite QB and he's playing like ****. Sit him down, put a foot up his *** and make proper adjustments and ease the guy back into the game. If you have something that works keep it. If its broken dont try to fix it or keep rolling with it hoping for a miracle. Thats why so many people are pissed at Tomlin

This is the second time I've heard Tomlin during the week say I don't have to say anything to the guys about these games vs teams like this. The other was before the Tampa game last season, he shouldn't have to get them fired up, but he should keep them grounded and focused.

Keeping them focused yes. Thats where you should pull the guy aside if he's having a bad game and make him understand its football. **** happens move on and produce next play or whatever. Go over adjustments. Go over and workout some weaknessses during practice to improve the guys. It just seems theres a let down at the most unwanted time

you know, I'm 48 years old and over the last few years I finally thought I was getting beyond being pissed off as much. The Super Bowls in '05 and '08 did a lot to calm me down. But today was like the old days. I could piss naplam right now.

I thought I calmed down over the past few years as well, but this team is blowing a golden opportunity this year. The AFC playoff field is terrible and the Steelers are pissing away a chance at making a deep run.

We could win 30 to 7 and people would still *****. That said I will help Driver drive Tomlin out off town with Driver but the truth of the matter today is our players lost the game. As he said....they **** the bed today.

I like to see guys get their feet wet a little longer elsewhere before coming back. When looking at some of the recent moves, the Steelers brought in new, OL, RB and WR coaches and we saw positive results almost immediately. Granted a lot of that has to do with the talent, but the coaching helped.

Exactly

and the team needs those same results at OLB SS OLB and CB

then the next time the players play a lesser team

its the players **** the bed

how long until the coaches don't put them in the best position to win?

this guy does the same **** over and over and over and over and over

how does that still fall to the players?

Why are we running trick plays against a very bad "D"???? Why didn't we attack with our strengths??? Coaching needs to coach, not be smarter than themselves or out smart the smart.

Salute the nation

I could of sworn we did attack with our strengths and our QB threw two picks almost three if not for someone's toe being offside. For all the complaining about running it was the right call. Two high safety run the ball. Ben is our best player. And to me that dictates he be the best QB on the field every Sunday. Today he was not..everything we do is built around him. He has to deliver.

The strength is QB and WRs

It doesn't mean you have to throw and force balls down the field (on Ben)

but as a OC I would have told him lets keep it short and move down the field

as a head coach I would have made sure that message was clear to the OC

even saying everything we did the D was still substandard and the WRs dropped catch-able balls..........

The defense gave up 20 points today this game is on our "unstoppable" offense.

gave up 20 points to a third sting QB just picked up off the scrap heap......

both sides of the ball get blame

Not saying I didn't expect more from them considering Mallet was watching from a couch two weeks ago. But honestly they suck. Not a playmaker in the bunch. All the playmakers are on offense. Who all **** the bed.

I saw Mallet play a lot in college. I expected him to be pretty good at this level. Odd to me it took him so long, but he is also a head case.

A lot of mediocre QBs do well against the Steelers

Odd that you think he has arrived after one ok performance against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.

Eh, I don't think he has arrived. But I thought he would have played like this for the Texans. Of course, when you can't make it in time for the team flight....

I think da Bruce would have made a great coach looking back at it...

But honestly, who would have thought that back then?

His playcalling was so inconsistent that no one thought of him as head-coaching material.

He was available after his impressive fill in with Indy

Arizona smartly snagged him up..

The Indy audition did the trick for him

But I don't think I ever heard him mentioned as a possible NFL head coach when he was on the Steelers' staff.

Bruce is more of a head coach than a coordinator. I think his time with the Steelers didnt allow him to show those head coaching traits. That, and the fact that the Rooneys stay loyal to their guy. That is pretty impressive to only have three head coaches in the history of this league. Thats pretty damn impressive. I'm not a Tomlin person, but he is the guy and will continue to support him despite the mediocre pattern of this team. Someone within this Steelers organization has to have the football smarts and sit these coaches and players down and tell them what needs to be done

***** about the defense but through 3 quarters gave up 13 points? 13

We knew they sucked and so did Ben and Tomlin and Haley, and everyone else in the world but through 3 quarters they gave up 13 points. I expect my 12 year 12 year 20 million veteran Qb with a good running back, # 1 receiver, damn good tight end, and some good pieces around him to score more than 10 points through 3 quarters.
Just me.
