Nice job Landry

Lets put this in perspective... The steelers gave Jones EVERY chance in the preseason to win the backup role... when he was abysmal until facing 4th stringers, they brought in Vick, which was always a questionable move for this O... even after he struggled and was using a third of the playbook that they could use, they still let Vick play... After jones made that Td pass, and threw the 2point int... the staff had such confidence in jones that they ran a draw on third down near the in the red zone...

I don't know if they just are so biased towards Vick that they were willing to run a handicapped O or that is because they are so petrified of Jones' decision making process based on the preseason and practices...

so we're supposed to believe that the Arizona defense was game planning to stop Michael Vick and while Landry Jones was a lesser talent that no one on the Arizona coaching staff had ever heard of, that the Arizona defense was inept and clueless in trying to stop Landry? Did their secondary forget how to cover? Did they only practice one way to tackle? Was there some super-genius gameplan installed so as to limit Vick's awesomeness that somehow couldn't contain all of Landry ******* Jones?

Yes, Landry came in and was for all matters lights out. He was in command of the offense. He was setting players up pre-snap where they needed to be. He was making his pre-snap reads and finding his open receivers much, much quicker than Vick did. The throw to Brown on the sideline was EXACTLY where it needed to be. It's a designed back-shoulder pass. The camera showed Brown and Jones discussing it and laughing. The pass to Bryant in the end zone, as Cope said, was high ... and where it needed to be so that ONLY Bryant could make the catch. Haven't we heard that statement before - "he put the pass where only his receiver could make a play on it" - in regards to other QBs? The game-sealing pass to Bryant was ... right on the ******* money. You simply cannot detract from Jones that Bryant eluded his coverage so effectively that he was able to run untouched into the end zone. Because if you can, then how can you not exonerate Vick for missing Brown wide-*******-open and behind the defense in the first half?

When Landry came in, Arians should have been licking his chops and suggesting how to beat him to the DC.

Instead, Haley opened the playbook up. WIDE. He gave Landry some confidence-building completions, then amped up the play-calling. Landry ******* responded.

To downplay that is asinine.

but, i expect NOTHING less than the oh-so-cerebral arm-chair brainiacs on here so quick to dismiss anything Steeler positive.

Rodney Harrison can suck it. Saying we wouldn't win ANY games with Ben out. That we would go 0-5. **** him.

Weird. I have seen them run that exact play even when Ben is in there...Go figure.

Landry Jones...APOLOGY THREAD.....OBVIOUSLY....

OK so I'll be the first to start it! Landry I'm sorry I thought you were a wasted pick in the 4th round three seasons ago! I wondered why oh why after your preseason performance you were still on this frikkin roster wasting a roster spot as I'm sure many other Steeler Nation members felt the same!

I'm man enough to admit it I was wrong! You have a Pedigree about you, that much is clear, and you have exceeded my expectations....OBVIOUSLY!

Congratulations and welcome to the NFL Mr. Jones!:herewego:

I hated the fact they kept him on our active roster and not on the practice squad. Not that I could ever believe he would of done what he did today. I just figured he couldn't be worse than Vick has been in his time playing.

Do you honestly believe we would have gotten the same result had Vick not been forced out of the game? Honestly?

Personally, I think 8 pass attempts through 2.5 quarters tells a story that says the coaches had no confidence in his ability to throw the ball. IF that is the case, why put him in there? I never wish injury on any professional athlete, but in this case I am glad Vick was injured, if indeed he was. I am of the opinion the Steelers would have lost had he remained in the game.

Here's the thing ... It's unknown and unknowable as to what the result (win or loss) would have been with Vick in the game for the entire game. It did not look good. What is known is that this team is 2-1 without Ben. A place that four weeks ago seemed almost impossible to think about. And it's been Tomlin guiding the team during that stretch. Circumstances have changed, we've lost other players to injury, adversity has mounted ... and yet the team is 2-1 over the last 3 weeks. That's "season saving" stuff right there ... especially with Ben set to return soon.

So, whatever it is that the "dumbass" is doing, I hope he keeps it up until Ben gets back and we can get the offense back to full strength (minus Beachum).

Way to make Tomlin look like a stupid ***** on National TV. He blindly went after Vick, and NEVER gave you a chance.

Way to stick it right up his ***.

I thought he stuck it to the hundreds of posters who have been calling for him to be cut the last 2 years. But I'm sure you weren't one of those.

I wanted to see Jones in there last week and the same this week, that's how bad Vick was. While I don't know if Jones is a viable backup, he did something that Vick couldn't do and that is get the ball in the hands of his receivers.

True, but Vick "off of his life's achievement of this season" was not going to win this game for us. So Tomlin was FORCED to bring in Jones. You can't change that fact.

Guilty as charged. And glad to be proven wrong ... for now. I'm hoping that this is a sign of improvement from Jones and that he builds up it ... But, I'm also hoping that Ben is healthy enough to give it a go next week.

Nope, can't change that fact. Just as you can't change the fact that Jones was available to bring in because Tomlin kept him on the roster when many (myself included) would have rather have seen him gone. Facts are facts.

I seem to remember Tim tebow ripping up a defense that basically was geared to making him beat us through the air ... and he did... didn't make him worth a damn at the QB position... Maybe Jones becomes a real starter in this league, or a quality backup, but a few passes in the final quarter of one game shows absolutely nothing other than he didn't totally **** the bed in his first action... bear in mind, he did throw the pick on the 2 pointer, he wasn't flawless and he did get a much much more wide open plan than vick did... Vick threw 8 passes up to that point...

Im just saying lets not enshrine him yet... yinze all sound exactly like the Cleveland Browns boards after one of their scrubs has a good game early in his career.

Correct, but I'm willing to guess if Jones was on the practice squad the hate for him would of been all but been non existent. Tomlin could of just added him to the roster then.

The thing is if they truly don't trust Jones, it sure as hell wasn't reflected in the play calling.

I fully expected them to go full turtle after taking the 12-10 lead, handing off to Bell every play, but Haley called the game as if Ben was in there.

Funny thing about this post is that even keeping Landry on the roster makes Tomlin look rather smart when many (including myself) wanted him released more than a few times. Landry had a good game and provided a spark to the offense. I'd give him the chance to start over Vick next week because he earned it.

4-2 and getting Ben back soon!

My point was, Landry wasn't "good" enough to take over when they went to their 3rd QB option. Landry was pushed back when they went after the dog killer. Make no mistake, if Vick would have continued to stink up the joint and finished the game with a loss, Jones would have been pushed back AGAIN if Ben did not start next week. By FORCING Tomlin's hand, Jones FINALLY got a shot to prove himself. Without being FORCED to play Jones, I do not believe Tomlin would have done it.

*Nominated for Post of the ******* Year

Thanks...lol.

I will go on record that I wasn't sure we would be 4-2 at this point without Ben. I knew we would lose one or two, but not all of them. I knew going in to the Baltimore game we would lose- they kept it close, and it most certainly was winnable, but not with Vick at the helm. I didn't think we would string together 3 wins like this, but it's a great feeling. And again. Rodney Harrison can eat a bag of dicks.

I found this post to be very sexy for some reason.

Something about a outspoken Steelergirl that is attractive. Especially one that is on point and accurate...

I think it was desperation after Vick... he really mustn't know a lot of the playbook or something... I mean we were running the O like Ben was in there, which again, with the playmakers we have teams HAVE to respect them... Im fairly certain Jones isn't a long term solution, but Vick fit the O so badly... that back shoulder throw to Brown wasn't the best move... if Brown looks back early, that is broken up or picked, its such a risky throw I am amazed they called it at all. Vick NEVER throws that kind of timing pass regardless... they don't call it and if they did he never risks it unless the Cb is absolutely beat.

Im going to get blasted because I think the wideouts made Jones' statline, and that he still isn't a great option, but what people wont realize is that's OK... this teams playmakers are so good we don't need the superstar QB to score... (its unstoppable when he is in there though)... they just need someone who has the confidence in the wideouts to make great plays from ok plays, and who the staff has confidence to call the whole O with....

That's why we should have gone to one of the lesser name dinky QBs available over Vick... while they aren't bombing it down the field, they will get the ball to the guys in space who can make plays like Brown Bryant, and Bell
