Nice job Landry

Not saying he is ready to take over the team when Ben retires, but glad to see him show up Tomlin.
 
Hoping Landry is the starter next week, assuming BB can't go. It was refreshing seeing actual movement down field.
 
Id trade Jones tomorrow for a 3rd round pick... I still don't see what they see in him, but he grossly outplayed Vick. He had some brutal throws that the wrs made look great, but that's just it, we have playmakers at the skill positions...let them make plays...

Both Bryant Tds are a great example. the first had no business being a catch... the second was a good first down throw he turned into a huge TD
 
I wasn't surprised at all. I saw his play get better in preseason. As before that I was a big doubter.

But my opinion changed after seeing some preseason improvement.

I said all along three years in our system if he isn't ready to be a backup now, he never will be.

I am ******* ecstatic !

So.... Tomlin is an idiot because his 3rd string QB won the game? You Tomlin haters have no idea how tough it is to win a game against a better team with your backup. Tomlin just did it with our backups backup. 31 other teams would sell their souls to have a 3rd stringer get a win. Toughest thing to do in football.

I hated the vick pickup....but it is not like Tomlin made the decision himself.....

true Tomlin and Colbert deserve equal blame, but Tomlin gets the edge from me knowing he has liked Vick and wanted him since prison.

Back then I actually understood the want more, but not so after his performances before coming to the club...

Tomlin is an idiot because Vick should never have been there in the first place. He is old, slow, confused and terrible, I'm sorry that like Tomlin and Haley you don't want to admit that, but it's true.

Dude ... just, wow. Jones made a perfect throw on the 1st TD. Bryant is 6'4", the DB is not, so Jones threw the ball high, where only Bryant could make the catch - in terrible weather at the time. Just a great throw.

The 2nd TD was a great catch-and-run, but the key point is this - Haley has seen Jones and trusted he could put the ball where it needed to be. He was right.

Jones had a 149.3 QB rating. Trying to downplay Jones' performance is just crazy, dude.

Ive watched enough QBs to believe that you NEVER look at what the guy did in a midgame replacement. great ones can look like crap, horrid ones could have fatal flaws covered up by teams lack of gametape... if someone offers something of value, I snap it up... I saw enough fatal flaws in the preseason to have no faith that he will ever be anything in the league... and one game wont convince me otherwise...

his only redeeming value is that the coaches trust him enough to let him play, though given a few games that will probably lead to a multiple int game.


Sell high, buy low...
 
I was down on Jones and Vick. I think we can use more of the play book with Landry. But I would like to see him do it again for a whole game in a hostile environment next week.

I think you're selling Jones a bit short here. Yeah, he had some errant throws, but he basically came into the game cold.

The touch throw over the deep middle to Bryant could not have thrown any better, and Patrick Peterson had no chance to make a play on the back shoulder throw to AB down the sideline. The 3rd and short conversion to Miller against a heavy blitz was impressive too. He showed some things today against a tough defense that I didn't think he possessed.

It could have been a fluke, but he displayed some potential today,
 
Listen. im ecstatic for the win and Landry putting a stamp on this game..but lets not get carried away here. Its one game. And you need to understand that DC's in this league study film. Landry had no film but it only takes a few games for the league to figure **** out. Again, love the outcome and I hope Landry builds on this...confidence is an amazing thing in this game. But you cant fault coaches for going with Vick who was a veteran over what Landry amounts to a rookie. He looked horrible in the preseason....nobody...NOBODY expected Landry to play this well against that defense. Im gladly surprised.....GLADLY surprised.

So slow down on the criticism because had Landry come in and threw a pick 6 his first pass, this would've been a different outcome.

Way to go Landry....write a new chapter kid......
 
My position all along has been this... You have a third string QB. The first two go down to injury. Instead of letting the third stringer play, you run out and sign some washed up bum off the couch and play him. Why is the guy on the roster if you feel a guy off the couch gives your team a better chance to win? The only reason he played today is because they had no other choice. He made the most of it and played well. But it still doesn't explain why there is a guy on the roster in whom you evidently have zero confidence. I have felt all along he should have been playing for the simple reason that he is, and has been for several years, the third string QB. How do you ever know what you have in a player if he isn't even allowed to play when his number is up? A

Watch that first Td again... Bryant barely could get to it... you don't do that intentionally... that was Bryant's skill and size pure and simple... hitting Brown in the foot? the sideline pass out of bounds? he is a very erratic passer... watch preseason again... Im saying that there are a **** ton of bad QBs that look great right away... if you buy in 100% right off the bat you are a fool...
