Nice job Ben!

Nothing like a Praise Ben thread to be overtaken by gloom & doom, "but they survived, so it's cool".

I'm not so sure Ben deserves much blame when the offense is sputtering, because he was balls out great when he was commanding that offense. When the O is predictable is where he looks slow and has questionable throws. Let him run with this offense and continue to grease all it's parts. It looked like a machine when the chains were off of him.

We score 40 and some one still tries to ***** and complain? The entire offense deserves credit, Bell wasnt having the best game stats wise, but man did he take on that blitzing LB on the play Bryant dropped a TD.
That no huddle was fun to watch

Dilly Dilly!

I hope Tomlin can see if he wants this offense to flourish and Ben to remain happy and have fun he should throw this into the game plan. Not on the third series we are going no huddle blah blah. When the offense needs a spark or they are playing a team like the pats and wants to get the defense on their heels run this the entire game.

Haley really can’t script a game and Ben has always played great football when he gets to run the offense. If this is his last year let a championship rest on him not Haley.

We could score 70 and Ben could throw for 500 yards and 8 TDS but that wouldn’t be ******* good enough for some.

I do not give a damn about the the Patsies until the week of that game and I’ll be damned if I’ll throw in the towel like the one poster who has already conceded. That’s pure bullshit. We all know what this football team is capable of and if they open it up like last night, I can see us taking it to them.

He was pressured most of the night and made some great throws with people on him, lets try him again next week.

They can beat anyone if they know they are not a ground and pound team and need to use the no huddle, even on the road. That is what worked last night. If they don't do it next week in Green Bay, then I just can't see any reason to not fire Haley on the spot.

Was it black butter or butter butter? I thought I heard butter butter and then thought maybe they were saying Butler Butler. Not sure where these new terms came from but hearing dilly dilly was pretty damn funny.

Early on, the announcers noted that Tomlin planned to be careful with Bell. He has carried the rock a lot this season, and ran the ball 26 times just four days ago. Having him rack up another 25 carries last night would have been an unreasonable physical toll on the guy. Steelers therefore decided to throw the ball - a lot, and very effectively.

I think its butter butter

Rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Purely conjecture, but here's my theory. Tomlin stated in the pre-season that this year's goal was to beat the Cheatriots. What if all this ground n pound and holding Ben back was attempt to not provide NE of any tape of what our offense can really do and Ben just got fed up with holding back and unleashed it last night. If this is the case, he could have reached his limit of hearing he's done and all the retirement rumors and said **** the tape, we're playing football tonight.

It was a great win, but Ben being a leader correctly pointed out we left points on the table. Our red zone I think is ranked 31st in the league.

Having said that, this should be our offense. More passing, more no huddle, less running it twice and passing in on 3rd down.

Ben was in total command, showing good accuracy, zip on the ball and adjustments. That new camera angle also picked up his audio changes.

Brown and Ju-Ju were great, James reliable short. If Bryant can ever gain consistency...watch out. Bell all right running it, a bit better catching it this game.

So you're saying you believe that Ben went rogue .. all "Broken Arrow' and ****? SMH .. You do know that Tomlin and Ben stated earlier in the week that they expected to use more no huddle last night due to the short week, right? Not to mention that playing a game of "peek a boo" with the capabilities of the offense would risk losing more games than the lost and derailing the season. And ... never mind. smh

Either that or they thought that a vanilla game plan would get them past most teams with the amount of talent they have. As I said, purely conjecture on my part. Either way, I'm glad the shackles are off and hope they stay off.

The Steelers figured out they need to be a passing team to win!

finally

Well we can win with defense and 2-4 Field goals plus 2 TD's, but I agree they figured out of they want to score more than 28, they need to get the bigger plays from the passing game.

It is many things that contributed to early struggles.

A WR off a year decided to work on his muscles instead of his burst.
A RB held out all of training camp and came in rusty.
Ben was cradled in training camp. The problem this year with that approach is it took him longer to come back to form due to increased weight, plus loss of mobility, plus with thoughts of retirement (lack of focus).
Then you have a OC then isn't the brightest bulb on the shelf.
Then you had a rookie that is adjusting to the pro game, learning the ins and outs.

It is more that repetition and desire is working some of these kinks out, **** it is a wonder they won as much as they did.

That screams of a talented team with resolve.

Ben has always executed the no-huddle, hurry-up in his career very very well. Not sure why it took 10 weeks in to figure this **** out. As soon as they went out of it....3 and out. Ben is more a between the ears QB now, he cant beat you with his legs and dancing around the pocket anymore. We should run this hurry up offense every game from here on out and run LeV sporadically and when we need to burn clock after getting up 14+

Ben Roethlisberger's halftime pep talk rallied the Steelers offense

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense came out fast Thursday night, scoring on the team’s opening possession. Then things cooled off for the remainder of the first half and the Tennessee Titans were still in it despite a strong defensive performance.

So quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took it upon himself to rally the troops at halftime.

The tactic seemed to really work, especially for him. It’s remarkable how many times this season we’ve seen Big Ben start off a bit shaky and then everything just gets dialed in and he’s almost unstoppable.

But it worked for everyone. Even the offensive line took what he said to heart and did a much better job in the second half. Guard David DeCastro spoke after the game and said that Roethlisberger challenged everyone and it worked.

DeCastro on Roethlisberger's talk:
"He didn't call anyone out, he called all of us out. Linemen. Receivers. Himself. Running backs. Purely positive. It was a challenge. He challenged us. The guys responded."

The defense was getting trounced, but Ben kept the offense on the field and scoring mostly TDs. Ben won this game. The end.
