NFL ratings down. Everyone knows why except the media

Troll excuses. Taping signals is at the very least a very poor lapse in professional integrity and the foundational principal of the Massholes. Go back to your Cheatriots board and get in the middle of your weekly Bwady circle jerk session.

Those asshats have been doing a lot more than taping signals. That's the only crap they had to acknowledge because they got caught. Whatever makes them feel good about themselves I suppose.

I was also a 6ers fan when Barkley was king. Loved watching Jordan as well. It was a player driven league of hype, over a team driven league, so when Barkley moved to the Phoenix Suns, I became a Suns fan, then a Houston Rockets fan. When he retired, I left the NBA and haven't watched since the strike. Not a single game. Same thing with the Baseball strike in 94, though I still go to a game from time to time in baseball. It's a more social sport.

I love international Soccer play, I can't get into any league play, and I've tried.

The Irish have it right. 2 incredible sports (Gaelic Football and Hurling), and it's all amateur. These guys have day jobs. The level of play and intensity is unmatched to what we've been creating in this country with NBA players walking up and down the court listlessly for 70+ games. Baseball and their 180 who gives a **** schedule. NFL WRs taking plays (or games) off. At least Hockey is always competitive. You slow up or sandbag in that sport, and you'll get your bell rung!

football use to be a gladiator sport now its just player complaining practice is to hard. its done it will only decline from here

This is my biggest problem with the entire game. It's absolutely ridiculous now defensively and boring. I find myself just wanting to hear one loud pop from a hit...nothing.The arm tackling in groups trying to grab the football is sad to see.

I do not watch any games live, including the Steelers. Can't stand the commercials or the announcers. Start DVR, wait for about an hour, then start watching. The game is over around the same time and you don't need to sit through the commercials. I do think the DVR has hurt their live ratings, and as on poster commented, the red zone is killing them. Red zone has no commercials, no blow-hard announcers, and really good flow with the host.

Of those watching less, the number one reason was the stupid Kaepernick protests. It isn't any of the reasons the media likes to put forward like saturation and "cord cutting". Get on the field and play the game and entertain us and make your money. Keep the politics and preaching out of it. Remember the "No More" commercials, as if we're all beating our wives.

I think it goes deep on a variety of topics. The keen spectator, like mentioned several times...notices not only political correctness, but the NFL actually taking sides politically. Not just football, but ESPN across the board stifles and even fires its commentators for professing conservative values, while the league's moral compass is pointing straight south. The league persecutes and pushes a guy like Tebow out of the league and then glamorized drug abusers, female assaulters and criminals. Say what you will about Tebow, but he was not a losing QB. All this mechanics stuff...BS...he won, but the league couldn't have an outwardly religious person become a popular face of the league.

Then you have the Colin K. crap. Fine...his right...blah, blah, blah. I personally don't think it's your right to protest on the boss's dime, but I digress. You're (the NFL) going to bring this issue front and center? How many times did the league televise the national anthem before this? They could have killed this issue in a week, but instead they go out of their way to make sure the kneeing pricks on on my TV set. F.U. NFL!!!!

I'll watch the Steelers because they are in my blood, but I stopped subscribing to the Sunday ticket, buying NFL official merchandise and watching non-Steeler games years ago.

To much stoppage of a game that is not football anymore. To much attention of everything but game itself. Rules, rules and more rules that the officials cannot be consistent on.

Wow cope I was a huge Barkley fan also and also followed him. I'm still a Rockets fan til this day. Wow.

11% through 6 weeks is a pretty massive drop; so large it cannot be attributed to any one thing.

However, the political circus that has been Clinton vs Trump has definitely been a factor, as it pretty much has the country captivated right now, diluting interest in everything else, including the NFL. I'd be interested to see what the college football ratings currently are compared to a year ago

NFL executives seem confident that the ratings will go back up following the election

Today's games still blaring out the same message: The NFL is getting, or has become, unwatchable. Sloppy play, too many flags and commercials. They really have screwed this game up. Good thing I have NFL Ticket because it takes having every damn game being played just to find one that isn't in the middle of a flag or commercial. I seriously might stop following the sport on the level I have been. If they don't care one ******* bit about their product and how they are treating the fans, then I won't care one bit about the garbage product they are putting out.

Remember when Blockbuster was king of the world? It was fun visiting those joints at one time, shopping for a few movies with anticipation. But along the way, what happened? They began abusing their customers with insane late charges, etc. When they were approached by the fellas who created Netflix, they laughed them out of the meeting, telling them their idea was cracked and just move along. Well, who is laughing now? Blockbuster has gone the way of the horse buggy.

The NFL is trending that way now: so arrogant they think they can abuse their customers with no end in sight.

A quality matchup between 2 big market divisional rivals wasn't even enough to stop the down trend in ratings. When is the last time the MLB went head to head with the NFL in ratings and won? I think the NFL has a real issue here. I realize the Indians/Cubs matchup is a dream World Series for the MLB but still, it used to not matter what else was on TV, the NFL would dominate ratings regardless and now it's all about making excuses for the downward spiral.

I didn't watch one snap of a games yesterday.....The Steelers didn't play so I didn't watch. Simple. Heck I only checked out the scores of the game this morning.
