NFL Head Coach Pink Slips 2025

Tua threw his team players and HC leadership under the bus in a post game media conference.

Dolphins will fire McDaniels really soon and Tua will be gone with that change too later on. Dumb comments to publicly make, any way you slice its a lose lose situation

I know a guy who's never had a losing season that made this very transition...

Losing in a super bowl doesnt buy you that much time at non steelers NFL Teams. Whiz had arizona in a super bowl in 2008 and got fired in 2012.
Rivera lost the 2015 season super bowl and was out in 2019
Quinn lost in 16 and was out in 2020.

Taylor fits those timeframes if they dont rebound this year

Yea, but that guy was never a “very good DC”

Just interviewed well, he had Rooney at components blah blah blah pedigree blah blah blah obviously blah blah blah and things of that nature and ended with the threat of “if you don’t hire me I’ll cut off your eyelids”

Rooney was scared and pulled the trigger

I think your man is NY is going to have a losing season.
Your man in Steelerland is another story. We shall see if he can not screw this up this season.

I thought so, too. But something tells me Tomlin & McDaniel would go together as good as water & oil. McD doesn't seem like the "yes" man type to me.

Seems the Patriots had a recent pattern with "good DCs, horribly bad HCs": Mangini, Crennel, Patricia. The Belicheck coaching tree has rot.

1. Rookies starting earlier than ever - check

2. Volunteers are kept and hostages jettisoned - check

3. Meaningful offensive plays added to the playbook and used during game day - check

I could go on but you get the point...

1) rookies have been starting early for awhile, especially the first rounders (the only rookie starting)

I’d hardly call what Kaleb Johnson is doing starting or even significant- his second highest pick.
Sawyer is seeing minor rotation play and mop up duty, definitely not starting- his third pick.
The other guys are pretty non-existent outside of Black who is seeing a little play.
Heck even his third rounder from last year barely sniffs the field.
Are you really asserting first rounders playing is some sort of “morphing”?

2) 1 singular hostage jettisoned, GP. And kudos to GP who is putting together a very solid season with a legitimate QB and offense. Think he’s top 5 in TDs and yardage…too bad Tomlin couldn’t ever develop an offense or relate/reach his most talented offensive player. I’m not gonna clap for him because he can’t coach talent and make it work…he’s allegedly a “motivator” and “player’s coach”….allegedly

3) that is 100% AS and AR as far as creative plays. The middle of the field even with an excellent QB in terms of reading, diagnosis and accuracy is still vastly underutilized…the constant to a Tomlin scheme.

So far I see a lot of the ball bouncing the right way and a lot of smoke and mirrors. This team could easily be a 2 win team right now…a very fortunate start. Super happy they are taking advantage of the breaks they are getting (and they’re getting a lot of them). Maybe this is the magic season where literally EVERYTHING breaks in their favor and Tomlin can break his pathetic streak.

While 4-1 is a great start, this season feels a lot like last year's good start and even a bit like that improbable 11-0 start that both led into the playoff ditch.

So, if "it's different this time", and this season would be at least the third hot start in the past few years, then what playoff parameters or measurements of success do you expect in order to judge, post season, that Tomlin and staff are actually doing a great job for Steeler Nation?

If they finish 10-7, or go .500 for the rest of the season, is that ok?
What about 12-5, which is 8-4 for the regular season.......that would seem a reasonable goal now.
It looks like the division should be in hand, bringing POs.....do they need to win at least a PO game or two?

It’s 3/4 full at least, right now…maybe more

This team looks like a bit of a “team of destiny”rather than the dumpster fire that was a distinct possibility as well, and that’s awesome

But, it’s a long season and not sure if fans should count on catching every break and bounce of the ball for an entire season AND improbable playoff run where the Jets, Browns etc won’t be lurking.

Tomlin has proven far more than capable to turn a quick start around and stack a whole pile of Ls. I’d just hardly attribute the very fortunate start we’re witnessing to some sort of growth/morphing of Tomlin when he’s proven for years to be regressing.

Do you honestly believe in your heart that come playoff time Mike won’t get his *** cheeks puckered so tight that he makes Marty seem like a riverboat gambler?

I’d love to see him make some actual growth strides, just haven’t personally witnessed it yet and he’s on a strict “I’ll believe it when I see it” level of trust at this point. Like many die hard fans he has a lot of proving it to do for me before I buy any more of his 💩
 
I maintain the view that the 4-1 start is obviously a positive situation. But I'm not convinced on their continued success as the season moves along. The Steelers have largely avoided the significant injury bug so far, which is good.

But, they've faced the following QBs so far... Justin Fields, Geno Smith, Drake Maye, Carson Wentz and Dillon Gabriel. I rate Maye as the class of that group, and he had probably his worst day as a pro with the Pats gifting us 5 turnovers.

We get a huge break again this week with no Burrow. Let's see how we do against Lamar twice, Love, Allen, Goff and even Daniel Jones in the coming weeks.

Those opponents with QBs who are better than the bunch we have faced so far will be the season's litmus test for me to gauge whether or not a 'squeak into the playoffs and get blown out' situation will be upon us again.

Yes. I expect a PO win (or more this year) and I believe it shall happen...

At the time, how much did that SB ticket cost you and do you feel you got the entertainment value of said ticket as opposed to the cost?

I've been to 2 Super Bowls and 1 Stanley Cup Game 7 (road game).

Game 7 was a better pure sporting event than the Super Bowl, but watching the Steelers win a championship was more exciting than the Pens winning one. A home AFC Championship game blows them both out of the water in terms of game atmosphere.
