NFL.com's FF best 2nd year WR's

ssshhhhh

don't tell anyone.

Let them focus on Dri, our surprise secret surprise.

FANTASY.......not real life.
Big difference.
Now AB and Bell?
Both arguably the #1 players at their respective positions......depending on format.

The story was about 2nd year wr's, and yes, from a ff angle. Bryant put up huge numbers in roughly half a season last year as a #3 at best. Baring injury he will be a starter this year. FF or real life the fact that they don't even MENTION his name is more evidence of the media bias against the Steelers.

Allen Robinson is shooting up draft boards. It's a shame, i was hoping to grab him late. He's going to have a ton of receptions.

From a fantasy standpoint, you can't fault them for not listing Bryant above the others. Bryant is a 2nd or 3rd option on the steelers. He's a big play guy who will get you 20 points one week and 5 the next. If your league is points per reception, then you can't take Bryant too high. If you have to count on him to start each week, you might have issues.

Might just mean that they are really a bit of the dumb-***. If one is looking for a wide out to have a good year one will need to be found that has a very good QB. If he doesn't have the ball tossed his way he is not much.

FF is the original "daggar" of death to the NFL. I get the draw to it (FF), but one must admit it's downfall. Usually it's not just about your original draft (FF), but how fast you can react to free agents / waiver wire / etc. I don't participate, but, do see the atraction for many.

Huge numbers?
Perhaps in a TD only league.....maybe. He did have 8 TDs in 10 games.
But in performance/PPR leagues, he should probably should not be mentioned above the others and it's not disrespectful.
His other stats in those ten games? 26 receptions for 549 yards on 49 targets.
That breaks down to 2.6 receptions, 54.9 yards, on 4.9 targets per game........which is paltry for a potential breakout star.
Can he be and will he be huge for the team in real life? You better believe it. Perhaps he frees up AB or makes them pay for doubling AB. Win for us either way.
But he's still not going to be THE MAN, nor is he going to be THE MAN II : ElectricBugaloo.
As mentioned by tapeANaspirin2it, he's the third option behind AB and Bell.
We'll have Bell in the backfield, AB and Bryant on the outsides, Wheaton in the slot, and Heath and/or Spaeth lined up at TE.
Ben's going to have SO many options. He's going to spread it around. There will be games where Bryant just blows up and puts up Tecmo numbers. But he will also have games where he'll barely register on the stat sheet ( see last year's games against TEN, NO, ATL, and KC. And besides KC, those other D's suuuuuuuuuuuuck ).

So it's not media bias. It's based on facts, or stats if you will.
It's like Ben. He's a mediocre fantasy football QB. Take away his two 6 TD games, and his fantasy season as a whole is meh.
But he's indispensable for us, arguably a top five QB in the league, and very disrespected/underrated....in real life.

They're projecting breakouts. Players who will just crush their previous year's stats and basically catapult themselves into the conversation among the FANTASY elite at their position.
Bryant has a legit shot at double digit TDs, and an outside chance at 1K yards.
But he'll be very feast or famine, and not anywhere near consistent.....which is what fantasy is all about.

I rode ben's whole "meh" of a season to the best record in the league I'm in and a 2nd place finish in the playoffs.

Ben and Brown= championship for me.

Drafted Brown early and kind of got stuck with Ben. Worked out great.

Like everyone else I expect Mike Evans to have a huge year.

Yeah, but who was the rest of your team?
I highly doubt Ben was one of your first four picks......unless you strictly a homer fantasy player.

I rode Bell, Brown, and Luck to a Championship.

I drafted Ben as my backup QB, he took over in week 2. Why does it matter where i drafted him? Fact is he put good fantasy numbers most of the year. I also had AB and Bell plus Lacy. If i remember right my picks went like this:
1. Grahm TE saints
2. Lacy
3. Brown
4 . Bell
I drafted Ben in round 12 i think.

It was your term "rode", I guess, that I took issue with.
With the lineup you show above, I wouldn't use "rode" for Ben.
You had both Brown and Bell........who both put up Tecmo numbers.

It matters where you draft him because that'll illustrate where you and the other owners of the league feel about a players' studliness.
If it doesn't matter where you draft him, why not use your #1 pick on him?
Nobody is riding Ben to a championship.
Much like Ben in real life, he'll be a valued contributor and a solid starter, but he's not winning it for you all by himself and you're not strapping the rest of the team to him to pull along.

My choice of keepers are luck, Newton,Foster,Bryant, v. Jackson. So luck,Foster and bummer I'm stuck with Bryant ! Not like is keep va jay jay.

Replace Ben with any other QB available in my league (i drafted RG3 1st) and i do not even make the playoffs. He was drafted so late because our offense was a bit of a mystery going in last year. Would Bell continue to improve? Nobody knew for sure that he was going to become a FF stud. Would Brown have another stellar year? Many people were saying that we had no other weapons and the double team would take his threat away. Would our O-line protect Ben? Would Ben and Haley finally see eye to eye? Would Ben be able to stay healthy after so many hits over his first 10 years? You are looking at things with hindsight. No way was i going to take any steelers with my 1st two picks with so many questions marks about the team going into last season.

But enough about Ben and my FF team from last year . . . back to what this thread was started about:

Heres a list of possible FF year two breakout candidates, all positions. Note: this is NOT form the NFL-Tool network or E (everyone) S (sucks but) P (pats) N (network).

Yeah, it's from another site that knows beans about fantasy football.
I get it, though. They're cool for mentioning a Steeler, namely Bryant.

So now with what you saw last year, and all those questions answered, would you pick Ben in the first five rounds this year?

Depends on where i pick (last year i was #11 out of 12), who else is on the board etc, but yes i think he will be gone in the first 2 rounds in most leagues.

i had Ben, Brown and Bell last year. That's because last year, all were value picks. Antonio was ranked high, but not among the elites. Same with Bell and Ben.

Ben was actually my #2 QB. He was available late in most drafts, I did not start him either of his 6 TD games.

This year i'm seeing Ben ranked top 5 which means i probably won't get him anywhere. What's crazy is Wilson being ranked so high. It's as if people think they got Jimmy Graham so now Seattle is going to stop running and let Wilson thrown 40 times per game.

There are only 2 QBs this year. Luck and Rodgers. If you don't get either, then you better wait.

Scotty - Under NO circumstances should Ben be picked in the first five rounds, regardless of format/number of teams. I'd LOVE to play in your leagues that he's picked in the first or second.

Tape - You sound like a formidable fantasy baller. Your insight separates fantasy from real life from homer goggles.....which is needed when money and trophies are involved.
