Here's the nfl's response. Insulting.

Deserving does not equal stats. If it is a team award then give them a team award. This is a player of the year award. All the measurables favor Watt except for PFF geek numbers that aren't tracked anywhere else. I'm sure Garrett's 1 sack over the last 7 games won many a fantasy football league title, not that I partake in FF. It is clear that this was a career achievement award and not based on the best numbers.

These awards are as relevant as the Pro Bowl, and little to do with actual performance.

I have to disagree with you here. And judging by the amount of comments generated for or against a player I think they are quite relevant. These aren’t “ participation trophies “
They recognize excellence in the field of work. If you don’t think Cam winning man of the year isn’t relevant or TJ winning DPOY is relevant to them or their fans, along with all the other players or fans….well I guess You have your opinion.
Being voted to the All Pro Bowl by the players or fans would matter. Especially contract time….reflection when you have retired and of course resume for the HOF. I think they are quite relevant.
It’s the voting process that is broke.

T.J. Watt
LB - PIT
T.J. Watt
Myles Garrett
DE - CLE
Myles Garrett

TD 1 0
Safeties 0 0

If the stats don’t mean anything then don’t keep them. They apparently mean very little.
They would rather give credence to some bs made up stat from a bunch of geeks at PFF.
Then you have Parsons spouting off referring to TJ as a sore loser by not attending the awards. He forgets about his sore loser comments from last year. Moron!
TJ plain and simple got robbed because they wanted their guy to win the award.

Really? I know he was a good KO/punt returner...maybe one of the best but when I think of HOFers.....I never have ever thought of Hester as one. Now Hines Ward I would and do. Just my take.
Hester was the best returner of all time... occasionally special teams guys get in

So basically they decided to give Garrett the award years ago and just found a way to finally shoehorn him in... he was going to get it the year he clubbed Rudolph.. they like the idiot and made it happe

He is an immature, goofy player. He is good, but utterly undeserving. I cant wait till the Browns lose again next year...

Also anyone who leaves the top two candidates off a ballot completely should instantly lose their voting right... this is done to push their guy higher... or just vote for one and thats it

NFL Affirmative Action award, we see it every year in one category or another.

The “award” selection process should be simple.
1. Awards given each week due to performance.
2. Monthly award given based on weekly awards that month.
3. Conference Player of the year based on monthly awards that year.
4. League Player of the year based on Conference Player of the year award.
5. League MVP, must be selected from League Player of the year awardees.

This would make these selections actually relevant, and make the awards they already give, mean something.

The last 7 games of the season, Watt had 7.5 sacks, Garrett 1. Watt 13 QB Hits, Garrett 7. Watt TFL's 8, Garrett 6, Watt 2 Forced Fumbles, Garrett 0.
Yeah Garrett really helped that defense and team on their playoff push.

It’s worth repeating PFF data are not stats. They can’t be considered statistical numbers because PFF states its data is “proprietary“. This means the data isn’t obtained from documented sources (i.e. League/Team game day score keepers). Their data is based on what those geeks THINK is the correct assignment, decision or play result. Of which they do not get information from players/coaches/assistants or league officials. It’s all guessing based on an individual’s OPINION of the correct end result. That’s their “proprietary formula”. In other words a load of horseshit….

And here's the worst part of it all, on the sports show I'm listening to, they said 8 voters left Watt off their ballot completely, WTF??? How is that possible!
Exactly, I wasn't upset that Garrett won because like others here have pointed out, it's been promoted since week one. We probably all have an opinion as to why but we knew it was going to happen and mostly resigned to it. But when I read he was left off 8 ballots for either 1st, 2nd or 3rd best, the anger returned. If the 50 AP members who vote don't make their selections public and what was the logic/criteria for the selections they made, they shouldn't be allowed to be involved in the process ever again.

That’s what it is. How do you lead the candidates in every statistical category and lose?

I’ve stopped watching most games for quite sometime. Think I’m just about done with the league
Josh Allen had nearly 50 TDs and LJ is all they talk about all season and he can't hit the side of a barn consistently.

Allen is another who should have gotten it before Jackson.

and if Garrett is the leader in pass rush win rate or what the F*** it is, then how bad he must be at actually sacking the QB. He's supposedly winning all these pass rushes, but not getting the sacks????
Nerds in some room making judgements on how rushers are trying really hard and making excuses for why that was almost a pressure or a sack, so it counts in his favor. The people doing this likely never played football except on Madden

Parsons "Watch the film" LOL

I'm mean the process of selecting the individual for the award has become irrelevant. What is the mindset of those that vote to come to the conclusion that they did?
And it isn't just the Garrett/Watt competition, there were a number of head scratchers.
