Next year's coach?

Maybe I missed something, but has anyone ever denied that fans wanted Cowher fired at various points throughout his tenure? As far as I know, everyone is well aware of that.
The difference is the prevalence of social media now and the lack of it until the end of his career.

Let's be clear. I'm not favorably comparing to Tomlin to Cowher. Cowher put up winners with a shoestring budget comparable to other teams. All I'm saying is people are waxing poetic about some things and that's a mythology. People were calling for his job. And a couple things don't go his way snd he never wins a Championship in Pittsburgh. And I don't think, I know from reading his book.......he'd absolutely agree.
They had a website(now offline of course) dedicated to it. Don't know if there is one for Tomlin.

For those that don't like links here is a screenshot of the announcement in January of 2007 that Cowher's tenure had come to an end, and wishing" Long live the new king!" to the new coach...LOL.

I think most admit that a ton of fans wanted him gone at least a few years
I was not 1 of them
I had 2 GSDs at the time. One was named Bill and his brother was named cowher. Fun to call them in my backyard as I live near baltimore

Exactly, no one ever denied that here, the points are 1. Those wanting Cowher gone wanted him gone because he couldn't win an AFCCG, he made 6 of them, fans want Tomlin gone because not only can't he win a playoff game, he gets embarrassed and is in the middle of a "historic" playoff slump where the Steelers have given up more points over the past 6 playoff games than any team in history. Cowher won at least 1 playoff game in 8 of his 15 seasons, Tomlin has only won a playoff game is 4 of his 19 seasons, that's a huge difference. 2. It was never this bad with fans wanting Cowher gone, no there wasn't social media most of his career, but the stadium was full every week and there were still billboards, and the fans never chanted fire Cowher and no one bought a billboard downtown asking for Cowher to be fired.

Sooooo, how do all the Marcus Freeman fanboys feel about him now? If the Steelers are eliminated in week 16, will he cancel the season finale?

They barely made the playoffs because Ben got hurt, they were sitting at 7-2 when Ben got hurt. So if you're saying we benefited from the Bengals QB injury, well teams benefited from Ben being hurt, we are a higher seed if Ben doesn't get hurt.
There was never chants at games for Cowher to be fired, or bill boards purchased by fans for Cowher to be fired. There definitely were fans wanting to move on from him, but that's because he would lose in AFCCG with Neil or Kordell, not because of not being able to win a playoff game. It was never this bad with fans wanting Cowher gone, like it is with Tomlin. Cowhers longest streak without a playoff win was 3 years, Tomlin is on what 8? he went 5 years (11, 12, 13, 14, 15) without winning a playoff game also. Cowher won at least 1 playoff game in 8 of his 15 years, Tomlin has won a playoff game in 4 of his 19 seasons.
The Martyball was the dumbest thing I've ever heard, well he was 110-1-1 when up by 10 points but it wasn't pretty, who cares they won.
So now we're complaining about almost losing a playoff game on the road to a team that beat us pretty easily a month or so before? Damn. Imagine Tomlin coaching that game, he wouldn't have changed anything from the *** whooping we took the previous game, oh wait we saw that first hand last year with Baltimore in the playoffs.

The biggest thing is that Cowher let his coordinators coach, he didn’t force them to implement his system. To wit, in 2001 with Kordell and Jerome at the height of his power, they bludgeoned teams with a more conservative offense. The very next year when Kordell flamed out early, Mularkey turned Maddox loose.

Two years in a row with two vastly different QB styles and he played to the strengths of both.

I can't stand Notre Dame but I highly doubt it was Freemans decision to not goto the bowl game. The Notre Dame AD was whining about the ACC pushing Miami over ND for the playoffs. I think it was either the ADs choice or even higher up that ND pulled out

I agree. They have a point to prove, and he wants on the field.

Between this and last year's debacle with Florida, they have am integrity issue, at least in perception.
