Anybody know what the cap space looks like for our division next year? THANKS!

I think we're looking at $10.8M avail but only 41 signed. 25th in the league. Cutting Cortez and Suisham post June1 gives the Steelers a couple million. I'd give Pouncey a hard look too.

I think Timmons is the big hit, I'm not sure what the options are with him, but I think his cap hit is going to be top 3 or 4 on the team.

Papillon

Don't forget....McClendon is now a FA so the Steelers need a DT now too. Both Timmons and DeCastro are in their last year in 2016 too. And to throw more gas on the fire, we need to pay Antonio Brown.

I think I remember that Timmons has already volunteered to restructure,

what starters are becoming free agents

None of those FAs should be unsignable IMO. None of them should command big bucks.

And if one gets overpayed? It shouldn't be a reach to replace them.

Foster/Gay would probably be my first priority. Then Beachum and whoever.

McLendon, Foster, Gay, Beachum with Golden, Boykin, Blake, Spence, Will Allen, Hayward-Bay also FAs

I'd bring back McClendon, Gay, Foster, Golden, Boykin, and and maybe Spence.

So you think Boykin will want to come back? I think that ship sail a long long time ago.

Boykin will be flippin' the bird at the Steelers as he walks.....it's unfortunate he was held back only because the cost of a higher draft pick with his playing time.

Boykin wants a chance to play on the outside every down and will want the $$$ that goes with that. The Steelers view him as a slot only type of CB (or at least that's how they most often played him). He's not coming back even if they offered him the most money. And there's the issue of his being underutilized earlier.

I think McClendon, Gay, Decastro, and Golden return. Restructure Timdong. Boykin walks. They let Foster and Beechum go, and start a newbie at LG.

why would they let Foster go? He isn't a spring chicken why would he be out of their price range?

Foster and Gay and maybe Mclendon should be the three they prioritize.

I certainly wouldn't **** with this starting o line. Sign him

Foster is a decent player who is seldom injured. You have to like that. But he's also a free agent, and he might get offers for 4 million a year or more. At that price, and DeCastro earning pro bowl status, I for one would not want to spend 11+ million a year on a pair of starting guards.

Not too many. Foster, Beachum, Gay and Boykin for starters. Need to take care of AB as well. Heyward-Bey, Mike Adams (they can't be retarded enough to sign him). Sean Spence, McLendon.

That is one of the least worrisome FA list we've had in a while.

Between the two, I would sign Beachum, and play him at LG, as if we have an injury at OT he could fill in.

I believe Bell has one year left on his contract so they will be looking to sign him No. 1 this offseason.

Why would Beachum sign for OG money, when he's been a LT, he'll test the market if we try that.

Right now Steelers are almost $10M under the cap but have to pay the rookie pool.....Decastro is the #1 highest paid G in the NFL next season at $8M. Sign him for 5 years at $45M with a $15M bonus and you just freed yourself up to $13.5M of cap space. Release Cortez and Suisham post 1 Jun and the Steelers now have $20M of cap room, minus rookie pool of course. Timmons is willing to extend that could free up even more. You can get Brown, Gay, Boykins and Foster if you really want them.

play with the calculator...

Whoever said that is unplugged how free agency works. Beachum is a starting caliber left tackle in his prime. He'll go for 8-11 million a year, possibly more.
