What's taking so long??? Who manages the team website??? I'm certain last year this time - we had photos of the new kids showing off their new jerseys and trying on their gear...

We need something to talk about...

48 for Bud? That will change...Boz will be pissed!:)

I wish the NFL was more flexible with their numbers and what positions could wear what, like college football.

I remember LB Brad VanPelt wore #10, Ted Hendricks wore #83.

The zebras are too dumb to figure out if the team is lined up correctly with out the numbering guide, Cowher already proved they can't count to 11.

The NFL said giving lineman certain numbers makes it easier to officiate. I can see their point on screen plays and eligible receivers. I used to like 00, but the NFL outlawed it. #48 is a bad number. That guys is usually a back up or cut in camp. Bud might take #99 or or perhaps #57 if Garvin is cut. Don't buy #48 just yet! And speaking of numbers I wish the Steelers went back to block style!

#14 for Sammie Coates. Was that or was that not the infamous Limas Sweed's number? Please tell me I'm wrong. If it was they need to burn that damn jersey cause it couldn't catch. Hell, it might not even be able to catch fire.:rip2:

Yes it was...

I hate the #48 for Dupree...

All of the Steelers social media has "All numbers are subject to change" and I would full expect Bud's to change before the season. If you were looking at numbers only right now, you'd think he was camp fodder.

Surely you haven't forgotten N O'D, who shat up on that number.

Isn't 48 an illegal number for a LB, as in Dupree will have to be in the 50s or 90s once the regular season starts.

Neil may have thrown away a Super Bowl -- at least he got us there.

The irreparable damage done to the #16 via the most dangerous weapon in the U.S. Military -- Mark Malone (who could single handedly overthrown the Soviet Government) and #18 via the only man who could draw fans to a Pittsburgh Maulers game -- Cliff Stoudt --- that's far worse than O'Donnell's legacy

Thanks, didn't see that they had changed the rules back in March.

#48 definitely won't be his number as I only think he can wear it during pre-season.

Oh that fricking idiot I forgot about him. He was supposed to be the heir apparent to Bradshaw. I sill remember Malone whose trademark was over throwing, under throwing, short hopping guys then coming off the field and pointing at them. Man that used to irritate me to no end.

Tommy "The Gun" Maddox takes offense to these references...

Steelers' rookies arrived in Pittsburgh on Thursday for minicamp.

Doran Grant walked into the Steelers locker room on Thursday afternoon, took a look around, and immediately saw a familiar face. Grant, the cornerback the Steelers selected in the fourth round out of Ohio State, was greeted right off the bat by linebacker Ryan Shazier, his former teammate with the Buckeyes and a player he refers to as being like a brother.

“As soon as I walked into the locker room I saw him,” said Grant. “You get to come in and see some familiar faces and you know what they are going to give on the field, they know what you are going to give.

Grant, along with the majority of the Steelers rookies, arrived in Pittsburgh on Thursday and started taking care of details, from being fit for equipment, to having headshots taken, and any medical testing needed. Then on Friday it will be on to the field for three days of showing why the team drafted or signed them.

“It’s exciting to be here, to actually be in an NFL program,” said Grant. “It’s actually crazy. I am speechless right now.

“It’s here, it’s now, and I am ready to get going.”

Fellow rookie Gerod Holliman, a safety out of Louisville who was taken in the seventh round, felt the same way.

“It’s been really good so far,” said Holliman. “I am really excited to be here and I am just looking forward to getting out on the field and showing what I can do. I am just coming to showcase my talents and be a part of this organization.”

Holliman, who has been to Pittsburgh once before when Louisville played the University of Pittsburgh, said seeing Heinz Field as he came from the airport was a special thing.

“My goal has always been to play in the NFL,” said Holliman. “Being able to pass the field where I can potentially make my mark is very overwhelming. That is something I get joy from. I can’t wait to get out there.”

Fifth-round pick Jesse James is no stranger to seeing Heinz Field. The tight from Penn State is from Glassport, Pa., just outside of Pittsburgh. And it’s a thrill for him to be a member of his hometown team.

“It feels great to be back in Pittsburgh,” said James. “I am ready to work and get to work with these guys. I couldn’t be happier for the opportunity the Steelers gave me. I am excited to get out here and get to work this weekend.”

Really like the fact that a home town kid is doing well and gets to play for Pittsburgh, that might have been one of his childhood dreams. I hope he succeeds at a very high level.

It's going to be weird seeing linebackers in the 40s. Unfortunately for DuPree he couldn't get a 2 in his jersey due to Webster or Harrison.
